Cape style rental (1340 sq ft.) located on a private 1.1 acre lot. Six miles to Sugarloaf & ITS snowmobile access from the rental (leave from the house without having to tow trailers). Rental offers 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, loft w extra sleeping space. Open concept dining and living room. Stainless Steel appliances, stackable washer/dryer, HWBB heat, partial daylight basement w/ wood stove. Excellent entrance for guests with ski, snowmobile, or hunting gear. Watch the deer in the winter from the dining room window......beautiful! Game room with couch, fose ball table, dart board, etc., great place for the kids to hang out. The loft adds more space for sleeping or can be another area for the kids to play games, watch movies, play Wii, etc.

Cable TV in livingroom and loft. TVs available to DVD/VHS movies in most bedrooms, family room and loft.. Free Wireless Internet access.

Home is located 6 miles from the Sugarloaf Ski & Golf Resort, 7 min. to State of Maine ITS Trail System, and 5 minutes away from the beach and hiking trails. Summer and Fall amenities include outdoor fireplace for camp fires, picnic table, and gas grill. The area is not just for Winter, it is gorgeous in the Summer and Fall too!

About Marcia or Rick

Rick & Marcia were both born and raised in the State of Maine. They both have always enjoyed getting together w/ family & friends and would usually end up being the coordinators of long week-ends away. We would rent different family-friendly places for all of us to stay in either the Rangeley area or the carabasset/Stratton area. There is so much to do in the area any season of the year. Camping in the Summer, hiking & hunting in the Fall, snowmobiliing & skiing in the Winter. Rick would often times talk/think about how we would like to buy land in the area and design a rental property. This is the 2nd property he has designed himself trying to include the things we thought were important when renting a property.

Why Marcia or Rick chose Maine

The Carabasset area is the perfect place to get away any season of the year. We have spent approx. 17 years vacationing in this area Camping in the Summer, hunting/hiking in the Fall, and snowmobiling in the Winter before buying property. Our property gives you the feel of being away from it all yet it is close to so much. This area offers so much to do each season of the year, Winter activities, Fall foilage, Summer campfires, hiking, canoeing, kyaking, natural waterslides, and swimming at Flagstaff Lake. Since Rick & Marcia have rented various properties themselves they tried to keep important things in mind when designing this rental. There is a loft area for reading, a familyroom/gameroom so the kids have a place to hang out, storage area for ski, golf, or any type of gear. In addition,Washer & Dryer, outdoor fireplace, picnic tables and gas grill are all on site. Driveway always plowed, sanded and maintained during Winter season.

What makes this house unique

Our property will surely give you the feel of being away from it all yet it is conveniently close to Sugarloaf and Flaggstaff Lake. Great place for family vacations anytime of the year. State of ME ITS snowmobile trail system, local grocery stores and dining. Snowmobile trails can be accessed from the house without having to tow trailers. In addition, The Gravity Center and The Outdoor Center are both just down the road. Outdoor center offers ice skating, snow shoeing, and cross country skiing in the Winter and hiking, tennis, nature walks in the Summer and Fall. Enjoy swimming, kyaking, or canoeing at the beach 5 min. away.

Good times around the table w/ good people, good food, and good drinks. Used the grill 2 nights in a row, great to have the grill! Beds are comfortable. The kids Loved the gameroom downstairs and glad you have a tv downstairs too. The wood stove works good and is easier than ours at home.

Excellent Newer Property; Great Value;

This property is as advertised. It is an excellent value and in a good location: secluded lot and short drive to grocery store and Sugarloaf. It appears to be a newer property and was impeccably clean. It was well provisioned in the kitchen and extra supplies such as paper towels, garbage bags, laundry detergent, pantry food/spices, etc were left available for use by the owner. We did a last minute rental for a ski trip to Sugarloaf and the owner/manager was responsive to us evening/weekends via email or phone and provided us with custom driving directions from Montreal airport. There is food to feed the deer available and 4-6 deer regularly appear in the back yard. The basement is partially finished but outfitted with couch, table, area rug, dartboard, foosball machine and woodstove with supply of wood. Great place for storing ski gear or use as advertised.

The owners made booking this property easy. I received messages immediately and had all my questions answered.

The property is gorgeous! The house was immaculate and very organized. We loved feeding the herd of deer who came to eat multiple times a day.

Owner is unresponsive.

Don't want to give a bad rating; only want to give notice to other renters.

Booking for Feb vacation is challenging, so when I found this attractive property available with less than 4 weeks before the trip, I was excited. After a week of back and forth, with only vague information from the owner, we had to book somewhere else to be sure we'd have a place before everything was booked. She seems friendly, but wasn't responsive and changed the available dates twice.

-> 1/26 11:17pm I sent message asking if ok to rent for dates 2/18-2/25, family of 4 and dog

<- 1/27 10:16pm received response saying it's rented 2/15-2/19. So could possibly get 2/19 (late) -2/25, or available for 2/20-2/25.

-> 1/27 10:45pm I sent reply saying thank you, we're excited, we would like to get in late on 2/19 if we can. Please forward rental agreement.

-> 1/29 5:10pm I apologized if I misunderstood about 2/19; if 2/20 was only option, we're still interested. Look forward to hearing from you. Anxious to finalize plans.

<- 1/30 9:04pm Marcia said rental now available 2/21-2/25. Apologized for inconvenience and offered discount on one night's stay.

-> 1/30 10:08pm We accepted 2/21-2/25. We told her we booked a hotel for the earlier days we weren't able to get at her house. Provided our cell phone numbers. Asked if we should use Book Now tool - since that wouldn't account for the discount offered.

-> 1/31 5:47pm called owner, left voice mail asking for them to call us back so we could finalize plans. Never got a callback.

2/1 6:35pm Booked a different place.

2/2 8:11pm still haven't heard from owner...

Excellent, clean, amazingly equipped, very close to mountain, private

This was an amazing rental that I would be thrilled to stay in again. I have never stayed in such a well appointed rental home (foosball table in fun basement! crockpot! the list goes on). The living area was perfect and it really was literally 6 miles from the mountain. Waking up and seeing deer in the backyard was a treat. You can't see your neighbors, so it feels secluded (in a good way), yet you can still head to the mountain for a dinner or drink out if you feel like it. Extremely accessible, extremely well kept. We stayed for an extra day due to weather in Boston and I am so glad we did! It wound up being just two of us, but we had planned for 4 friends and their 2 children to come as well and the house would have easily accommodated. So glad to have found this spot. Marcia could not have been more helpful with our delayed departure and other extra details (I was having a late christmas package sent to the house). Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This rental property is 6 miles from Sugarloaf Ski and Golf resort. Great place to bring the family and get away for the week or just a week-end. Location is excellent for snowmobiling, skiing, snow shoeing or just relaxing. The area is equally beautiful in the Summer & Fall. Beach 5 minutes away for swimming, kayaking & canoeing (rentals are available). Hiking trails are also just minutes away.

Other Activities: snowmobiling, skiing, local ice-skating & snow-shoe trails trails. See the deer right out the front door...beautiful!
