Great villa in a great location with excellent facilities. Will definitely return.
Best view in Frigiliana
This villa possibly has the best views in Frigiliana, you just don’t tire looking at them. The villa is very quiet but it’s easy to walk into the village, the pool was a nice size and great for cooling off in and there is plenty of room on the terraces. Just a warning, because the view is so lovely some tourists decided to come on to the upper terrace to take photographs even though it was obviously private. The inside is well equipped and any minor problems that we did have were quickly sorted out by Suzanne. As everyone else has said the road to the villa is pretty scary so if you are going make sure you have a confidant driver with you, once you have done it a few times you do get used to it.
We have had a wonderful holiday at this villa. It is the perfect location at the top of a very pretty village, with lovely restaurants and a nice market on Thursdays.
The villa has a very nice pool and outside areas -- including a large terrace from which to view the stars at night. There are plentiful comfortable sunbeds.
The airconditioning is very welcome; be aware that it is in the hallways, so the bedroom doors must be left open at night in order to keep the rooms cool.
The kitchen in functional and well equipped; the outside BBQ was very nice indeed.
The owner left us some avocados which were extremely tasty!
Our only real criticism is the mattresses; many of us slept badly on them.
Good but could be improved
The villa is in a great location, lovely pool area, although we felt like we were sitting in a pub beer garden, the chairs, the parasols and all of the glasses in the villa were from a pub, either Heineken, carlsberg etc. Nice loungers though. Kitchen didn’t have a great supply of utensils, very dated things. Hardly any bowls, No handle on the freezer which was a bit of a pain. Just below the sitting room window is a drop off area for building supplies for the village although not too much noise. I’ve stayed in many villas and was quite surprised when there was absolutely nothing in at all. No cleaning products, condiments, not even a dish cloth, so be prepared to buy everything for your stay, which is a shame when you have to buy everything and you’re just there for a short time, we always leave the things we buy for the next guests and so on, but not here, we had to even buy a hairdryer as assumed there would be one, as there always is, but on checking it isn’t stated in the inventory. Plenty storage in the bedrooms but not enough coat hangers and the beds were terrible, rock hard mattresses and uncomfortable pillows, nobody got a decent sleep good job we were only there a week. If the owners invested in decent beds/pillows, we would go back as we could ignore the other things. I run my own holiday let and was overall a bit disappointed. Suzanne who met us was very nice and at hand if needed.
A very nice villa set at the top of of this beautiful white village
After reading previous reviews I was expecting a short but narrow access road - don’t be fooled. The journey from the village takes 15 minutes along narrow roads with steep inclines/declines. We followed Suzanne who said she would not drive along this road (her husband did the driving).
My main priority when booking this was a relaxing holiday but within easy walking distance of restaurants and bars. When we arrived it ticked all the boxes - it was ideal! I did notice that the adjacent villa had metal girders set upright.
We were awoken on Monday by the sound of shouting workmen and various size lorries. This continued throughout the two weeks we were there as they worked on the adjacent villa.
Many times we were prevented from accessing the village on foot because the road was blocked by a crane/cement mixer. Sometimes the ‘scary’ road was also blocked with lorries were delivering supplies to other villas being renovated! Anyone who did want to pass the ‘blockage’ was expected to climb over the lorries!
I called Suzanne asking her to come and see this but all I got was apologies and a denial of any knowledge that the work was planned. No visit from Suzanne. She did offer another villa further away from the village, and not within walking distance of the village. This was not what we had booked!
The holiday was a disaster: cement dust everywhere, pool was not cleaned (we had to complain about that also!) .Workmen urinated outside of the villa whilst lorry engines ran constantly!
On Saturday we were awoken by mules carrying debris from other properties being renovated in the village. The bags of debris were tipped into skips that lived outside of this villa. More noise, dust and more frustration!
I met the actual owner briefly on our day of departure, although he spoke no English, He said he had contacted the town hall and was told they could work 7 and 3 - I pointed out that it regularly started at 6:30 and sometimes til 8 at night! He also seemed surprised that we were not made aware if it prior to arriving as he had been made aware in May.
At any other time of the year this would have been a great place to relax but I can honestly say, in all of the many private rentals in Spain this is the worst by far! It seems obvious that the work had already started, if Suzanne had alerted us to this, we could have made the decision to either cancel or still come.
Please check with Suzanne what work is ongoing before booking this Villa.
I am so sorry that this building work took place in the 2 weeks that you stayed in the villa.
The journey from Nerja takes 15 minutes, but from the Frigiliana village which is where the villa is, the narrow road is 2 minutes.I personally am not an experience driver and not so great at reversing. But there are several places to pull in if another car is coming on the narrow road. This would not be a problem for an experience driver..Frigiliana is a very quaint Spanish village with lots of narrow roads.
I asked the owner of the villa to go and speak to the buliders as he is a local and was in the building trade and would be able to get more information than me.He first went to the town hall to ask if they had permisson to build this extra room on top of their property which they had.He also ask if they could work in the summer months, because in Nerja you cannot build in July /August,but that is not the case in Frigiliana village. He then went to the property where the building work was being done and spoke to the builders to ask them to be quiet in the morning ,which they agreed.
I answered all of the texts and phone calls from you both even when you had hung up on me.
I felt the only thing that I personal could do was to offer you alternative accommodation in a beautiful villa that is situatated 5 minutes up the road.
I still think there must have been a misunderstanding with the languge barrier as the owner didn’t know about the extensión of a extra room being built, and definitely not back in May.
I have been renting this holiday home for 3 years now and as you can see have only ever had postive comments,so I am so dissappointed to have my first negative review.
Once again my sincere apologies
I wish you all the best in your future holidays
If you want easy access to Frigiliana and a pool this is for you
We have just spent 2 weeks here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. we have stayed in Frigiliana 6 times now and this house is the best one we have stayed at. Easy access to all the restaurants and shops of the town and a swimming pool!
We were visited by the owner, who came a few time with avocados, cherimoyas and mangoes; all were delicious!
The house is well equipped and the air conditioning proved to be extremely efficient.
The road to the house is a steep drive so is best taken with care, also if your car has a small engine and is fully loaded it may struggle. ideally if you are planning on making a lot of trips out and about it may be better to leave the car at the bottom of the village and walk up.
All in all dreadful house, don't go leave it for us!!
