Peaceful and wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Carl for sharing your wonderful cottage. It was close to the aquarium and walking distance to Cannery Row. We were able to take advantage of the close proximity to shops and restaurants and enjoyed our evenings walking to Lover's Point and the trail. It was a very nice getaway for us. The cottage had a great sound system which we thoroughly enjoyed playing music and relaxing. Super convenient and loved the history of the cottage and the area. Carl was an amazing host!

Classic Pacific Grove!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this cottage was perfect! Everything we needed was there. The owner is very kind and willing to accommodate. This is a historic cottage that has a great blend of old and new. The front porch was my morning coffee routine! Lovers point is only a few steps convenient! While most people are having to deal with a commute to get to Lovers Point, I just rolled out of bed, grabbed my cup of joe, and enjoyed a sleepy eyed short stroll down to the waters edge while my family continued to sleep in! PG municipal golf course is one of my favorites and the bike path to the aquarium and Cannery Row is just across the street! If you are looking for a genuine PG experience and want to feel like a local for a week...this is a great choice! Aloha!

Location, location, location

The cottage truly is charming! Carl has done a lovely job in maintaining the Victorian beauty while updating the cottage with outstanding modern amenities. EVERYTHING is within walking distance... the quaint Pacific Grove Village with shops and restaurants, the glorious Lovers Point Park and even the Monterey Aquarium! On our mile long walk to and from the Aquarium we saw Harbor Seals, Otters and a California Gray Whale from the well maintained walking path. We had most of our meals in utilizing the well equipped kitchen... TJ's is only a mile or two away, so shopping was a breeze. Super easy drive to Carmel and Pebble Beach too! We especially enjoyed the spa bathroom with its relaxing tub! Felt very safe, parking was easy and we had a comfortable stay! Our thanks to Carl for sharing his sweet little slice of heaven with us! We appreciated being met at the property and personally shown all the amenities and how to use them. We will be back!

A quaint coastal cottage that was perfect for our stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the cottage during our visit to the area. From the outset, Carl met us and gave us a quick overview of the place which was very helpful! The location was fantastic, just across the road to the beach and coastal scenery, and a couple of blocks to downtown! It was a perfect home base as we explored the surrounding areas!

A Work In Progress

  • 3 of 5

We have stayed in Pacific Grove many times and it's a area of California not to be missed. You can walk to everything you need in town as well as Monterey and the coastal path is beautiful. So this is just a review of the cottage:

Clare was very welcoming, the flowers, wine, coffee and cream were a nice touch

Cottage is close to everything

Everything very clean

Nice front porch and front garden to enjoy the morning sunshine

Bikes (helmets are broken though)

2 Aquarium passes

Enjoyed the Breakfast nook in the sunny front window

Nice towels and linens

Kitchen is easy to work in but needs a knife set and doesn't have the coffee maker like in the photo

Has an outdoor area in the back with bar-b-que and patio set but no umbrella and chair cushions like the photo and it's kind of overgrown.

Bedrooms are good size but front bedroom is used for storage of vacuum, rolled up carpet, construction material etc.

Overall it's a nice cottage and all the work that has been completed is great but there are quite a few projects that need completing before it is a real gem.

Lovely town and cottage

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our week here. The location was perfect for hiking and seeing the whole area. We enjoyed our down time at the cottage as well. We took the bikes out almost every day and enjoyed being right near the Rec trail that goes along the ocean for miles. It was a wonderful week and Clare a wonderful host. Thanks so much!

About Carl or Clare

Welcome to the Farrington House Victorian Beach Cottage! I'm Carl. I've traveled a bit and love meeting guests because it makes having a vacation rental fun. I'm a Carmel based architect and often live in the cottage when it's not rented out. I love this neighborhood and location next to the beach. My neighbors and I frequently sit out on the front porch enjoying coffee or a glass of wine together. Currently, I am working on a project in Nepal, and my friends Clare and Richard (pictures above) will greet you when you arrive. We look forward to meeting you on your arrival in Pacific Grove!

Carl or Clare purchased this house in 2005

Why Carl or Clare chose Pacific Grove

In a word-location. This is a fantastic location in the historic 'retreats' neighborhood, originally a religious summer camp. It's a short walk to all that Pacific Grove has to offer such as the beach, the recreation trail, the world class Monterey Bay Aquarium and downtown restaurants. Downtown Monterey, Asilomar, and Pebble Beach are all a five minute bike ride away. PG has a small beach town ambiance. I like the strong sense of community that is characteristic of Pacific Grove. People are quite friendly here.

What makes this house unique

Great location!! Guests love the cottage’s wonderful location 3 doors to the beach at Lover”s Point, 10 minute walk to Monterey Bay Aquarium (Aquarium passes provided) along the recreation trail for walks and biking, and a couple of blocks to downtown’s shops, theater and restaurants. It is 5 minutes drive or bike ride to Pebble Beach, Asilomar Conference Center, Pacific Grove municipal golf course and downtown Monterey.

The spa and the whole house sound system with your music playing are especially popular with guests.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had such a wonderful stay in your charming cottage! Loved the amenities and especially the bath. My 6 year old daughter loved it and said it was better than a hotel with a hot tub!

The decor is so warm and inviting it's like staying at a good friend's house.
