I recommend this apartment
Shahla is very accommodating and helpful host. The apartment is cozy and larger than I expected. And also the neighborhood is calm and peaceful. Everything was even much better than the pictures especially I loved the renewed kitchen. It was perfect for us.
Lovely Home in Lovely Neighborhood
Our stay was magnificent! The property was neat and clean in a lovely and quiet neighborhood. Shahla was a magnificent hostess. The property is located close to shopping, transportation and restaurants. It is certainly one of our favorites. Looking forward to staying again.
Great place; cozy retreat
House and neighborhood we're great! Close to Subway and excellent host.
If you are looking for a great apartment in New York City look no further. Shahla and David were wonderful hosts. The apartment is beautiful and in an extremely safe area. The train station is close by 5 min walk and will take you straigth into the city. There are also lots of wonderful places close by explore. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay.
Great stay at the Celeste Guest House
We had a wonderful stay at the Celeste Guest House last week (Dec 10-16). The hosts are great as is the location. You get to "live" in an actual neighborhood that has good restaurants, nightlife and access to one of the most beautiful parks in the US. In addition, you are close to the subway so it is simple to get into Manhattan if you need to. However, the Celeste Guest House is located near many of the great spots in Brooklyn, so you could spend your entire trip in this area and have a great time. The apartment is much larger than your typical NYC hotel room--you get a kitchen, separate bedroom and nice bathroom for much less money than you would spend on comparable lodging in Manhattan. Give it a try!
Serene, comfortable, convenient, and unique!
My large extended family converged in Brooklyn from all over the country for my son's wedding. A number of us stayed at the Celeste House and we had a great time. Shahla was so gracious, warm, and welcoming, and very helpful! She even rushed out when she saw a bunch of us dressed for the wedding and waiting for a car, and took photos of us. The house is beautiful and interesting, with lots of little surprising features. Beds are all super-comfortable. VERY quiet. The neighborhood at first seemed a bit sketchy, but as it turns out it really is not; I didn't feel the slightest bit unsafe walking around, and found lots of interesting places to visit within walking distance. A HUGE tub in the 3rd floor bathroom soothed my pre-wedding jitters, and there are ample linens, pillows, extra blankets and air mattresses and hair dryers, irons, dishes and cookware, lots of magazines and tour guides and a FABULOUS (and funny!) book put together by your hosts about what to see (and avoid) in the neighborhood, including "the worst wine shop in the world". You will not find a better value in Brooklyn. Make sure you notice the skylight. While we were taken up with wedding activities and thus didn't partake of a lot of local dining or nightlife, there is plenty of it, obviously. I would definitely recommend this charming old house for a family (note: the owners live on the first floor so you would have to climb somewhat steep but safe steps to the 2nd floor or 3rd floor).Being able to fix breakfast and late-night snacks was a great plus and budget-saver. We rented both 2nd and 3rd floors so we had TWO kitchenettes (the one on the 3rd is larger, with a gas stove/oven). and 2 bathrooms.
Two city blocks to Park Slope's main commercial and restaurants venues, one block to NYC subway. A short commute to Manhattan (20Min.). Shirt walking distance to Carroll Gardens's smiths and Court streets. Other Activities: Shopping, restaurants, galleries, music halls and clubs, theaters, museums and several parks.
