About Fatijah Clark
My husband and I live in California, which we love - but I am English - grew up in London - and was missing my friends and family. We were fortunate enough to buy this Edwardian townhouse. We visit whenever we can and when we can't be there, we love that other people are able to enjoy London.
Fatijah Clark purchased this Townhome in 2008
Why Fatijah Clark chose Maida Vale
We looked for over a year at more than 50 residences to find the perfect home base. We wanted it to be easily accessible from Heathrow, to be near a good tube line and bus route so we could easily navigate all of London, to have its own separate entrance and a spacious interior, and preferably to be a period property in a charming neighborhood (if possible with a good deli and general store across the street). Voila! This is it!
What makes this Townhome unique
The townhouse was built in the Edwardian era - late 1800's or early 1900's - and we have decorated it with prints and memorabilia from this era. Our friendly neighborhood is a quiet oasis in busy London. It is also near two tube stops on an excellent tube line so all of London is easily accessible - trains run every 2 to 3 minutes and go straight to Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square etc.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Maida Vale is a well-equipped flat in a safe, relaxing location. There are many conveneinces very close by: tube, Paddington Park, good restaurants, mini-market. It was easy to get everywhere in the city quickly. It was our first trip to London as a family and bery easy to get our bearings. The flat was plenty of room for a family of 5. The kitchen had everything for cooking. We had breakfast and some other meals in. I would definitely recommend it!
Flat was lovely in a great neighborhood. Fatijah was very accommodating from check-in to helpful tips on London. Her guidebook is amazing and so well done! We thoroughly enjoyed our time.
Easy visit to London
This is a spacious authentic London townhome located a short walk from the Maida Vale tube station. The pictures accurately characterize the home's comfortable and elegant furnishings. The unit is behind the flower shop shown in the picture, on the second and third floors. With outside views onto both streets the home has an abundance of windows. The neighborhood is upscale, clean and quiet. There are 3 small eateries and 2 stores within a few steps of the home. Each morning we dined on fresh bread, croissants, and lattes. Our goal for this London visit was to spend time enjoying the sights and the pulse of London. This comfortable home made it all possible and exceeded our expectations.
Just can't say how much we enjoyed saying here. The owner sent us a book with all of the relevant information about the townhouse and the neighborhood (market, restaurants, etc). It was just like we expected and close enough the tube that we could be downtown in 20 minutes. Loved it!
Cozy, Comfortable, Convenient, Felt Safe - Great Location!
My three children (ages 14, 18, and 21) and I recently stayed at this lovely town home in London. What makes this home special is the interaction with the owner, Fatijah, prior to arrival, its location, and "authentic" charm. Once we booked, Fatijah sent a lovely guide book to us at our home which contained information about the home's details as well as a guide to London and details about how to get to the house, where to eat, what to see and do, etc. When I did have questions before and during our stay, she responded quickly and was very helpful.
In terms of location, the home is a short walk (5 min) from the Maida Vale tube station. We "topped off" the Oyster cards provided and used the tube extensively. We also ate out at the local Japanese restaurant, Murasaki, and pizza/pasta restaurant, Le Cochonnet, which were literally right around the corner. There is a small market, home made take out food place, and small cafe across the street. It was nice to have these conveniences in a quaint, residential neighborhood.
The home itself is charming, especially the original wooden floors. It has all of the amenities of a home away from home (internet, kitchen appliances, washer/dryer). Many guests have left tourist brochures and books so there is wonderful reading materials in the living room area. We appreciated and used the British Museum guides. The one caveat I have for others who may read this is that if you have mobility issues you may find the home difficult to navigate as it is a town home with a vertical orientation. There are steps to consider: exterior steps up to the home, a staircase from the entry level to the first floor (living/dining/TV alcove/kitchen), and then another staircase to the second floor bedrooms/main bathroom area.
We had a lovely trip, felt safe both in the home and around the neighborhood at all hours, and would recommend it to others!
Well kept home in a lovely neighborhood where kids can unwind after a day of sightseeing. We enjoyed the local restaurants and found the home comfy. Fitting four kids (plus mom and dad) into the home was tight, however; especially if your children are older, I would not bring more than 3 to this location. The owner is also pleasant and responsive.
We provide a street map of London that is yours to keep. The townhouse has a library of guidebooks and brochures on historical sights, museums, parks, restaurants, walks, pubs, and day trips that are not to be missed. We'll advise you on getting around by bus or tube, how to top up your travel card, a few lesser known sights of London, and a few of our favorite hole-in -the-wall restaurants. We also provide information on walks that we love and day trips to historic places an hour's train ride from London.
We love London and hope you will too.
