About Laura Semple

We call our home 'Nana's Place'. It is owned by our family (my parents and my two brothers). My great grandmother was called 'Nana'. When she passed away in 1982 we inherited her home in Newton, MA. We sold that home and purchased our home in Orleans. Hence the name, 'Nana's Place'. We live in MA and try to get to 'Nana's Place' in the off season as often as possible. It is a great gathering place for my parents to be with their children and grand children. There is plenty of space in the house for everyone and the yard is spectacular. My dad loves to work in the yard, and it shows! There are beautiful flowers (hydrangeas, impatiens, geraniums, sea grass, etc) everywhere. There is lots of 'grassy' area in the front yard and back yard for the kids to play ball, tag, etc. while the parents BBQ and relax on the outside patio overlooking the yard. It really is a relaxing home and yard. A great escape to the busy lives we have at home. And Orleans has so much to offer for everyone in our family (beach, bike paths, miniature golf, shopping, great restaurants, Cape Cod Baseball League and more).

Laura Semple purchased this house in 1984

Why Laura Semple chose Cape Cod

Every year we try to reinvest in our home. Some of the recent improvements we have made are: central air, new HD flat screen tv in the family room, room darkening easy lift Hunter Douglas shades (keeps rooms dark in the morning and afternoon for napping kids), new mattresses, updated outside shower to include a changing area, new kitchen table that comfortably seats 8, new furniture, and much more.

What makes this house unique

We provide beach chairs, beach umbrella, beach toys, beach towels, inside toys (for rainy days) and yard toys (Frisbee, croqut, wiffle ball, etc).

One of the bedrooms has a full size crib. We also have a portable high chair and Graco portable crib for the yard or beach.

'Nana's Place' also has water views of Pochet Inlet which can be seen from the dining area and the upstairs bedrooms so you don't forget that you are on Cape Cod.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for opening your gracious home to us. This was our 5th year at Nana's Place. We have so many memories of playing in your yard, using the BBQ on the patio and walking the beach.

Fabulous, family friendly, get away

  • 5 of 5

Nana's Place is a beautiful oasis in a stunning part of Orleans. The layout of the rooms provided privacy and quiet for everyone from grandkids to grandparents. The furnishings, especially the beds, were very comfortable. The backyard was an inviting spot to curl up with a book or have a family BBQ. The owner was easy to work with and offered great suggestions for area attractions.

Great house. Great location. LOVED the central air

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at your home. Thanks for supplying all the beach amenities (umbrella, chairs, toys, towels). After a day at the beach we loved the large outside shower and then cooking on the grill on the patio. Nice quiet neighborhood for walking and bike riding. The central air was nice on those hot nights! Everything was well clean and well maintained. We found ourselves cooking in more than we usually do on vacation because the kitchen was so large.

Awesome house. We will be back.

  • 5 of 5

What a great house! Our family had such a relaxing vacation we didn't want to leave. The central air sure came in handy during those hot nights. The kitchen was large enough for preparing and cooking large family dinners. Everything was clean and well maintained. The young kids loved playing in the yard. The adults loved the patio. Thanks for supplying all the beach stuff, it was nice not having to bring all that! I think we did everything there is to do in Orleans (the beach, mini golf, candy store, ice cream store, bike trail, Cape Cod Baseball game, sunset at Rock Harbor and more!) We will be back again. So glad that you open your beautiful home for others (like us) to enjoy. I would highly recommend it to others.

Great for a large family

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at Nana's Place twice. The home is roomy and perfect for 8 adults or 4 adults and 4 children. There is even a crib. The availability of beach towels, chairs and umbrellas is perfect for our family. The outdoor patio and grill is probably our favorite spot for eating and star gazing. The home comes with all kitchen conveniences and many board games. We highly recommend.

Serene setting in East Orleans near Nauset Beach

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six had a memorable, relaxing, peaceful stay for three weeks at Nana's. The room configuration was perfect for our four teens to enjoy their two big rooms upstairs, the kitchen and dining room are sunny and spacious, the furniture comfortable (although a bit challenging for 6 to watch a movie at the same time), and the outdoor area with grill perfect for nearly any time of day. (I would add a screen porch if I could so those pesky flies would not interfere with eating) The area is quiet and residential. We rode our bikes every day to Nauset, to Sundae School, or downtown to get on the bike trail or go to the gym. (There is traffic, but older kids should be able to maneuver safely).

We loved the large yard, the trees, the sense of space and calm that the setting offers. Everything is well cared for and we appreciated the use of the beach chairs and toys. We hope to return soon! Thanks from all the Brown Family
