About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths (Sleeps 6) 1 king, 1 queen, 2 twins, sleeper sofa

'Get Your Bathing Suit On' is a custom-built, Key West-style beach home that has RELAX written all over it! This first-tier home is less than 100 steps to the beautiful, white, sandy beach on the Gulf of Mexico. The gorgeous Gulf beach views can be appreciated from the living room, dining room, the loft, the porch, the deck and the kitchen of our home. With its 3 separate sleeping areas, with a total of four baths, screened porch and sundeck, our whimsically-decorated home can easily accommodate a family or small group... but is still small enough for couples on a romantic getaway!!

For your convenience we have a tandem Kayak, A Stand-Up Paddle board and a Tommy Bahama Beach Cart with Umbrella to easily tote all your things to the beach. We maintain a supply of beach chairs, beach umbrellas, a large cooler, kids fishing poles, rafts, small crab nets, crab bucket and a crab trap, boogie boards, wave boards,, shovels, pails, large outdoor grill, grilling utensils, tennis rackets and beach toys! If you decide to stay indoors for a while we also have a cupboard full of board games and puzzles to keep you entertained.

We have three to four beach cruisers. They seem to require pretty constant maintenance so we can never absolutely guarantee that every guests will have use of the bicycles. In general, at least two of the bicycles work but last year there was a 2 week period where all for bikes had one issue or another (flat tire, chain off, crashed front wheel, loose handle bars...) Our property manager will not maintain the bicycles so we do this ourselves but we do not live close enough to come weekly . We do stock extra tools and extra inner tubes , etc, but not everyone is knowledgeable in bike maintenance or wishes, on vacation to do bike repair. All this is to say that you will likely have bicycles to use but we don't guarantee it.

We also try to simplify what you need to pack by providing all your linens and bath towels, as well as a starter supply of paper towels, toilet paper, bath soap, and detergents. Please note that the linen service DOES NOT INCLUDE BEACH TOWELS so please bring those from home.

There is plenty do do but if you decide to just relax, you will have a fantastic time enjoying the sweeping Gulf views and spectacular sunsets from the living room, kitchen, dining room, loft, sun deck and screened porch and if you decide to stroll along our quiet and award winning beaches, you can find a variety of seashells to collect, watch the dolphins swimming by, see the mullet jumping in the bayou or catch the eagles and osprey scouting for prey. There is also an amazing star gazing view from the top deck. Our area is very undeveloped so the night sky is not obscured by light from street lamps or business lights.

Of course, swimming, sunbathing, fishing in the surf or crabbing in the bayou are always a lot of fun.

Our neighborhood is extremely quiet and friendly, with no thru traffic - a great place for families with children, or for anyone who just wants to get away from it all!

Money Bayou is just a short walk down the beach where you can catch blue crabs, throw your cast net or put in your kayak to explore the winding waterway. Scalloping in nearby St. Joe Bay is also a lot of fun during the summer scallop season. These sweet, tender delicacies are a favorite for dinner or can be frozen to be enjoyed later when you return home. In addition, nearby Indian Pass is famous for its delicious oysters!

FLOOR PLAN:

The GROUND LEVEL has a bedroom with a queen bed and a private 1/2 bath which is perfect for the mother-in-law or a guest couple. The garage is also on this level and contains the washer & dryer as well as a plentiful supply of beach chairs, rafts and beach toys for your convenience. There is also a hot/cold outdoor shower conveniently located on the ground-level deck.

The MAIN LEVEL has gleaming heart pine floors throughout. It contains the kitchen with breakfast bar, dining nook and living room that open to the screened porch with pub-height table and chairs that make it easy to dine 'al fresco' while enjoying the view. In addition, the inside dining area has a very comfortable window seat perfect for afternoon naps or reading a book from our collection. There is a full bath on this level. The Master Bedroom, with king bed, is also located on this level and also has a private full bath.

The LOFT, which serves as the third bedroom, has two twin beds with built-in drawers. The loft also has a 1/2 bath. It is perfect for kids/teenagers or friends. It also has a large open area that provides plenty of extra room for play.

The house has WiFi and all the bedrooms and the loft have their own TVs with DVD players. There is also a TV, DVD player and CD player in the living room.

We invite you to stay at 'Get Your Bathing Suit On'to relax and enjoy 'Old Florida.'

About Teresa Mustelier

Our family always wanted a house on the beach and this beach house is a dream come true. We love to swim and fish, Kayak and bike and to just sit on the porch and listen to the music of the birds, the wind and the waves. We are originally from Cuba but now live in the Northeast. We enjoy this house so much and we hope that you will too!!

Teresa Mustelier purchased this house in 2004

Why Teresa Mustelier chose Port St. Joe

Money Bayou and Money Beach are unique. This is the only place in the Cape San Blas area where you can enjoy all the wonders of the beach and the bayou within steps of each other. Our proximity to St. Vincent's Wildlife Refuge, the St. Joseph Peninsular Park and to the St. Joe Buffer Preserve make this about as an ideal beach, boating, fishing, cycling and exploring beach experience as you will find anywhere!

What makes this house unique

The Bayou for cast netting and crabbing, the surf for swimming and surf fishing, the bike path (a mile away) for cycling, the Raw Bar for great food and camaraderie, the Buffer Preserve, the state park and the Wildlife Refuge for nature exploration (you can see sea horses swimming in the bay at the state park!!!). The closest restaurant is about a mile away. It is the Indian Pass Raw Bar and is famous for its oysters and other seafood (as well as for its VERY casual atmosphere.. it is a DEFINITE local culture experience you should try!) There are a few other restaurants that are fairly nearby, however, if you want even MORE shopping and restaurants-besides those that are nearby- there are a number to choose from in Port St. Joe (9 miles west) and Apalachicola (19 miles east), Mexico Beach (20 miles west) and Panama City (48 miles west).

Guestbook comments from the owner

Greatly enjoyed the house. The free passes to golfing and deep sea fishing were a treat andthe fishing and crabbing off the beach and bayou were superb. We caught our limit of red snapper on the FishNExpress and whiting and red fish on the beach. Thanks for a great vacation.

Beautiful second row view of the ocean..

  • 5 of 5

Its a nice house, but there are three spiral staircases that are pretty hard to maneuver. The beds are fabulously comfortable, and the furnishings are great-- very comfortable! The kitchen is wonderfully stocked ( except for salt & pepper..if you want any seasonings you have to bring them or buy them.)However, they do leave a lot of clean towels and a first roll of toilet paper in each bathroom...

You have a good second row view from the house, and the beach was nice....hardly any people there!

The bikes were there , but we didnt use them. There was one crab trap. And no throw net for fishing, the Kayak is a two person, and theres no where to actuallly try it out , unless you tie it to your vehicle and take it somewhere. There are also a lot of houses that have been built since the pictures on VRBO were made. Including two that were being built the week we were there.

Overall, we had a great time... the stars at night were glorious--we could see the milky way! The beach is nice, lots of shells...

I would reccommend staying here!

Everything you need for a fun, activity filled or relaxing vacation.

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been more pleased with our stay. The teenagers paddle boarded, crabbed, fished, kayaked and road bikes and we lounged on the porch reading books, listening to the surf and watched the sunsets.

Indian Pass and Money Bayou are 8-10 miles from Port St Joe. We loved being away from shops and amusement parks (though we did go into Panama City for a Movie one night). The Indian Pass Raw Bar is a 'blast from the past'. When we visited there was a guitarist outside and the weather was perfect for sitting on the rocking chairs and listening. Do not leave Florida without getting an order of Baked Oysters or crab legs at the Raw Bar, you will be sorry if you do.

We were not here during scalloping seasons but a friend told us that the best time to come is in early July. We have already reserved to return next July so that the kids and we can take advantage of the scalloping. Our teenagers caught about 8 blue crabs in the house crab trap and we had a crab boil!!

We had a really fun filled and relaxing vacation!

Nice getaway

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed for four nights. The house is super cute and comfy. The view to the ocean is beautiful. The neighborhood is pretty quiet. We really enjoyed ourselves. A few miles down the road to cape San blas Rd the beach there has the beautiful clear emerald water. Absolutely gorgeous!

Stargazing heaven

  • 5 of 5

We loved this property. Great spaces & the undeveloped area around the neighborhood was a plus for this family. Plenty to do in the area if you are interested in outdoor activities & not amusement parks. Teresa was very responsive & helpful. We want this area to stay "undiscovered"!

Fantastic location!

  • 5 of 5

The location is perfect, almost a private beach, and it was in the middle of high season. If you don't want the crowds of Destin and Panama City, this is the place for you. Property was very clean, well-equipped (especially the beach toys and chairs). Teresa was a dream to work with, even after one of our very large teenage boys wrecked one of her bicycles. The spiral stairs could be a challenge if you have small children or are elderly, but we all had plenty of room and quiet. Best restaurant in the area is Killer Seafood in Mexico Beach, worth the trip but go for lunch and go when it first opens. We cooked most of our meals with seafood from the St. Joe Piggly Wiggly. Highlight of the trip was our crabbing expedition to the nearby creek that runs into the ocean. We had a blast and cooked our "catch" (seven crabs; about two dozen got away!). There isn't much entertainment in this area (read: none) but that's why we love it. We hate the go-karts, putt putts, souvenir shops and chaos of most beach towns. The boys complained that there were no girls around, but again, that's why we love this area. (They wouldn't talk to the girls anyway.)

Perfect Get Away

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place for some much needed R and R. We totally enjoyed our stay. The house is located in a part of the "Forgotten Coast" that is still "old Florida Coast". Not much of that remains. Here you can get away from it all, kick back, unwind, take in the sun, see the natural beauty of the Florida Panhandle and and enjoy the beach. The house has character, charm and well thought out amenities that make for a care free vacation. Thanks to the owners for their thoughtfulness.
