This charming and spacious first floor unit duplex is located just steps (89 to be exact) to the sands of Mission Bay in the exclusive South Mission Beach District of San Diego. San Diego is widely known as 'America's Finest City.' The property setting is unique - it's adjacent to Mission Bay Park, on a 2.5 mile-long peninsula, only two blocks wide. The ocean is a short block and a half to the west. Enjoy the serenity of the Bay or the roar of the Pacific in this special location, with its magnificent sunrises and sunsets.
The beach house has a gray exterior and cobalt blue awnings which gives it a charming 'nautical' appearance. It's located three houses in from the Bay, on a small street near the south end of Mission Boulevard, and very near the jetty. The private patio is a great place to relax. It is nicely landscaped, and has new patio furniture and barbecue.
For those who desire more activity, there are miles of boardwalk on both ocean side and bay side for walking, roller blading, and bicycling. Kayaks, beach bikes, sand chairs, sand toys, and boogie boards are available for your use at no charge.
Bring your laptop to check email, etc. We now have wi-fi high speed internet service.
The unit is immaculate, is decorated with attention to details, has newly-refinished hardwood floors in the living and dining areas and in the bedroom, and has a well-equipped kitchen. It's a perfect retreat for singles, couples, or small families. It is completely furnished for a very comfortable extended stay.
Bedding Information: one queen-size bed in bedroom; one full-size futon in living room.
Occupancy limited to four persons maximum. This unit is not a good fit for four unrelated adults due to sleeping space limitations and privacy considerations.

What a wonderful weekend!! The home was clean, cozy and perfect! we will be back!
This amazing little home was perfect for us! We will definitely be back! We were in walking distance of everything, so convenient! Bed was super comfortable and the owners were very nice and pleasant to deal with. We look forward to coming back!
AMAZING LOCATION!! Cozy, TONS of beach equipment...would love to go again!
Our stay here was absolutely magical!! *Sigh* Where to begin...
First of all, allow me to get the only ever-so-slightly negative part out of the way so I can rave about the good parts. My group and I were expecting 1 bedroom in the cottage as the description states, but it was actually a closed-off space without a separating door. So it went from the living room down a short hallway and straight into the room without a door. (Maybe it's still considered an official room because it's separated enough?) We had no problem with it because it was still separated enough from the living room, but don't be too disappointed if you expect an actual closed-off room with a door.
Now for the good stuff... This cottage was LOVELY! One of the best things about this stay was all the extras that came with it: beach cruisers, kayaks, boogie boards, beach towels, chairs, beach bags, pots, pans--everything we needed, and so much more, were included with the cottage. All these additional activities would have cost extra otherwise, but I truly feel that we made our trips to the beach and bay much more worthwhile by utilizing the bonus equipment.
I can't say enough about the location!! The cottage was so close to the bay that I could walk there with my eyes closed, and the beach was just a short walk away. It was also great that we were at the south end of Mission Beach, since it tends to be much less crowded than central and northern Mission Beach. The garage that came with the place was incredibly helpful, too. We kept the car parked in the garage, walked to the neighborhood market and some shops and restaurants, and rode the beach cruisers to shops around Belmont Park and Pacific Beach (highlight of my trip!!). Honestly, with the beach cruisers, the whole Mission Beach is at your doorstep.
Bev and Ken were wonderful to work with! Any questions you ask either before or after booking, they will be responsive, considerate, and so helpful. Kirsten upstairs was also lovely and so kind! The self check-in process was very simple and organized, as well as the check-out process. This is such a cozy beach cottage--we found ourselves excited to go back to it every night. We have already started planning our next trip to San Diego!! Definitely would love to stay here again!
Surf's Up! Fantastic 4 days at the Beach & Bay Escape
Bev & Ken/Jack & Kirsten are great to work with...very clear instructions for access and household "operations. All was as described, yet better, as you cannot put into words the beach ambiance and the activity enabling amenities (e.g. bikes, skim boards, body boards, kayaks, beach chairs, etc.) provided as part of the rental (The garage parking was a welcomed bonus). Having grown up nearby, I would very much encourage anyone visiting the area to stay here as the location is primo and the amenities mentioned above serve as a springboard to the beach culture/experience that, in my humble opinion, is the true essence of what is great about San Diego. The location provides VERY easy access to I-8 and I-5 and just minutes south/southeast to Sea World, Old Town, Downtown, Petco Park, the Zoo, the Airport; north to La Jolla, Del Mar, Carlsbad, etc.. That said, I recommend you catch all of those things on a separate trip...sit tight, hang around and enjoy the beach and bay experience for your stay...you will not be disappointed!
Thanks so much for your very thorough and positive review of our property. Your having grown up in the area makes your review even more relevant and appreciated. Knowing the South Mission Beach area so well gives you a more complete picture than a new visitor might be able to give. We work hard to stay current with maintenance, updating, and amenities to create an ambience of a relaxing yet invigorating beach experience. We enjoy having many return guests because of very positive reviews such as yours. We would love to have you back at any time in the future!
Great beach house
My family and I had a wonderful time at the beach house. They had everything you need. Washer and dryer for a small fee of 4 dollars a load. We used the bike and kayaks. The location is great. All the neighbors were so nice. It was quiet at night. We never had any problems. We hope to stay again soon.
Thanks so much for taking the time to review our beach house in San Diego. We appreciate your very positive comments. We are very pleased to know that you plan a return trip soon.
