About Coley O'Brien

We purchased this home in the spring of 2015 from a family who had been doing vacation rentals for several years and has taught us the ropes. Our family lives nearby in Dexter, Michigan. We own a local restaurant, the Dexter A&W Drive-In, and also have several long term rental properties in the area. We are thrilled to have this home on beautiful North Lake and share it with vacationers.

Charming Place

  • 5 of 5

The location is perfect. The house has room for all with a "just the right size dining table" so everyone can be together. Our children and grandchildren, ages 16-9, visited for a few days and absolutely loved it. They could walk right out the door, kayak, paddleboard, swim or fish whenever they wanted. There was no packing up the car to get to these activities. It was wonderful that the kayaks and a paddleboard were furnished with the house! The outdoor patio is wonderful and the swans that visited us daily added to the experience. The owner is very responsive to any needs and easy to work with. We loved it-one of the best family vacations we have had.

Just the right size for family of four plus two adult family members

  • 4 of 5

House was very clean, kitchen items more than adequate, beautiful view, loved the kayaks, paddle board & corn hole, enjoyed both the outdoor & indoor dining areas. Wifi worked great.

It would be helpful to mention that coffee maker was a Keurig & to possibly provide Keurig cups for the 1st morning.

Clean house on a quiet lake with lots of amenities.

  • 5 of 5

We rented the property for two weeks, and were very pleased with it throughout our stay. The house is clean and comfortable, and it was clear that the owners had invested a lot of time in preparing everything for our arrival. North Lake is quiet and beautiful, and the floor-to-ceiling windows in the upstairs bedrooms made it that much more enjoyable. The included use of kayaks, paddle boards, and life jackets was a very nice additional benefit. We also really appreciated how supportive the owners were during our stay. They weren't at all intrusive, but they went out of their way to make sure that we were satisfied.

Great Lake House and Friendly Owners

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week at this Lake Cottage. This was our first time booking on-line and we were a little nervous. Everything was as advertised. The home was very nice and well appointed. We fished kayaked and paddle boarded, all day and barbecued and played Euchre in the evening. The owners were available and pleasant and really wanted to be sure we enjoyed our vacation. It was a special week.

Perfect holiday great location

  • 5 of 5

Three adults (family) stayed at the house. The whole process of booking and getting access to the property went smoothly. We found it to be just as described with the most beautiful view over the lake. We used the two bedrooms overlooking the lake - there was also another double bedroom and bunks for children which we did not use. The house was well heated, given the extremely cold temperatures (almost reached 0 deg F), and the WiFi internet connection was extremely good - both very important. Also plenty of hot water. There are 2 nice bathrooms and plenty of towels. Cooking facilities were adequate and a big refrigerator. We also used the washer and dryer. Everything worked. There is also a TV room and sofa upstairs and a sitting area and eating area downstairs. Our friends who came to visit thought it was an excellent find! It really was. The owner is a wonderful man who brought round a hairdryer which I had forgotten to bring. It is unusual to have absolutely no complaints... but I don't have any! The little town of Chelsea is nearby which has a great restaurant (The Common Grill), lovely little shops, nice coffee place (ZouZous) and a wonderful public library. Also the supermarket in Chelsea is quite big and is open until late. Ann Arbor is only 30 minutes drive and also a lovely university town - enjoyed the shopping and university grounds. Detroit is 1 hour drive with the Henry Ford museum. So, the perfect getaway in beautiful surroundings with access to great places nearby. Would love to come and stay for a summer vacation so that we can also make use of the terrace and the lake. Definitely recommended!

***Great Location, Spectacular Lake Views***

  • 5 of 5

I'll always cherish memories of having coffee on the deck, watching Mamma and Papa Swan visit the shoreline with their new babies (cygnets). The cabin sits up high, with large windows, giving you great views of the lake. The location is ideal for nature lovers, trail adventurers with the 18 mile Potowatomi trail (among many other trails) just across the street. The owners could not have been more accommodating. I look forward to visiting again.
