We are living in Chesapeake, VA. just one hour from the Outer Banks. I have always wanted to own a beach home. My husband was not as sold on the idea as me. Once we found the village of Duck we both fell in love. It's such a charming place with beauty not found in other parts of the Outer Banks. Now he's a believer in the joy a coastal home brings. We only rent 13 weeks a year to keep it in top condition. Once the season is over we start getting ready for the next year. I love decorating and enjoy making it perfect for our guests with lots of personal touches. It's a lot of work but when we call each guest to welcome them and they say how beautiful the home is, its all worth while.

Duck is considered the Jewel Of the Outer Banks by the travel channel. Our location is the best spot to be , right in the heart of Duck! Once you go, you will agree, the charming shops, gourmet restaurants, breathtaking sunsets, bike trails, walking paths, park with the new boardwalk, and friendly people make this a place to fall in love.
The added benefit of having a community center as part of the rental home package makes the whole family have more to do than just the beach. Enjoy tennis, racquetball, exercise room, gameroom, heated indoor pool, outdoor pool, kiddie pool and pool and gazbo at the ocean front. All of this is include in the rental price. You really don't have to spend any extra money on entertainment. Park the car and walk to the shops and restaurants. The home has games, movies and plenty of books to enjoy plus an outdoor Tiki Bar that all ages love.
We have had many visitors to our cottage during the past 7 years. We are very pleased to report our high approval rating. When you rent our home I personally call you to make sure the home is what you expected and you are happy. We feel our guests are very important and expect a clean and well decorated home. Since this is our second home and we only rent it during the summer we can afford to be particular about its condition. We realize the best compliment is a repeat and happy guest.
I stay at this rental every year. I just love how clean it is and how the owner has everything you could possibly need. Very comfy beds and they remodeled all of the bathrooms. They just got a brand new Electrolux Refrig/freezer that has 2 ice cube makers. You never run out of ice with that nice feature. Also just got a brand new wash machine. The owner calls you once you are checked in to make sure the rental has everything you need. If you need anything at all while you are there, she gives you her personal phone number to call her directly. They do have a high return rate every year so you do have to call early to book to get in for the week you want. It is well worth the price. Everything is close by, a gas station, coffee shops, eating places, the ocean beach and the sound side with all its little shops and boardwalk. The sunsets are gorgeous and are only a few blocks away to see. The view from the deck looking towards the ocean has a 180 degree view. Great for sitting out there with your morning coffee. I already have my week reserved for next year. :)
The home is very well maintained and accurately described. Bedrooms accommodate 3 families with ease. There are plenty of games and books for rainy days. Thankfully it is a short walk to either side of the island as well as the private beach. Getting in the car to travel is a challenge. Having experienced Cape Cod traffic, this was much more congested. An expected 5 hour drive from D.C. on Saturday morning took 10 hours. We were told after the fact that many people come a day early and stay in a hotel and leave the day before checkout. I found that idea very costly. So we left at 6 a.m. on Saturday. Traveling on the island is easier but expect it to be 'city traffic'. We recommend Corolla and taking in the Lost Colony performance as well as kayaking. etc. There was plenty for everyone to do. The grill is small so cooking for a crowd is a challenge. My one complaint was with the booking agency, Elan. Once I expressed interest in renting, I received phone calls before 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. asking if I had decided. One agent became very rude when I asked about an unclear charge on the contract. Granted we live in a different time zone but I would think a professional agency would be used to that. I was told someone else wanted the week we had chosen and that was the reason for the pressure. Nonetheless it left me with a negative impression of the agency and I will avoid them in the future. But if you can overcome that hurdle, it is a nice spot for a family gathering.
Within walking distance: Restaurants, church, art galleries, festivals, city park, playground, sound and beach access, boardwalk, bike paths, fitness center, three pools, tennis courts, raquet ball courts, and specialty shops. Parking lot available beside beach access. Use of Community Center while you wait to check in. Near by: golf, jet skiing, boating, horseback riding, spa, light houses, historical old village, and wild horses.
