Beautiful Cedar 4 bedroom home, with sweeping views of 3 glaciers, the homer spit and the Kachemak Bay. Homer is the vacation fishing capital of the world and provides you with access to the best halibut and salmon fishing available. This comfortably furnished spacious home is great for large families or a group of friends or fishermen who want to get the most Homer has to offer.
4 bedroom home with 2 baths and convertible loft with attachded 1 bedroom apartment with private entrance.
Family members will enjoy shopping at the Homer Spit and eat well at local restaurants. Wake up and enjoy cup of coffee on front porch watching the glaciers, moose and even bears.
A group of 8 friends stayed here for 5 days this past July. The house is large, and the views are spectacular, hence the two star rating. However, the house is in dire need of cleaning, the furniture is old and covered with pet hair, the towels are threadbare rags, and the bed linens did not appear to be washed as they all smelled. We had to wash everything, after driving for 10 hours just to be able to go to sleep. Stay in Seward, it's a much lovelier town, many more things to see (Kenai Fjord Tours is a must followed by dinner at Chinook's). Our entire group wished we had chosen Seward over Homer, don't make our mistake. The view of the Spit from this house is spectacular, aside from that not a lot of positive things to say about this location.
The house is huge, roomy, comfortable, and has a beautiful view of the spit. Everybody loved staying there.
I stayed in the apartment suite above the garage, which is quite roomy all by itself.
If you want a lot of space with rooms for everyone, you won't be disappointed staying here.
My husband and I live in Alaska and we wanted to treat our visiting relatives to the sights and activities in and around Kachemak Bay. We selected the Homer Lookout based on our need for a number of bedrooms and convenient location. The picture of the Spit from the house on this website does not do justice to the truly gorgeous view you have from several rooms. We found the accommodations spacious, clean, and had a great time cooking up a huge seafood dinner (fresh oysters from the co-op on the Spit are a "must do"). The only minor issue was that there were eight of us and only seven dining table chairs, but we just had the kids take turns sitting on a bar stool and it worked out fine.
We had 9 people and the house was spacious and convenient, sometimes we'd run out of hot water for showers but everything else was perfectly sufficient. The view down to the Spit and across to the glacier was superb especially at night. Our wishlist of small things which may be added to improve the property is a hair dryer, a first aid kit, and an oyster knife (we bought one down on the Spit but took it with us ... the KB oysters are fantastic). We never figured out if a fishing license is needed not just for razor clams but also for run-of-the-mill mussels, these little black guys are all over in low tide and taste fantastic too.
