Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

The 'Rickshaw Boys' Cottage is a comfortable 2-Bedroom, 1-Bathroom cottage located between Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore area, on beautiful Bronson Lake. Located on a maintained gravel road the cottage provides a peaceful yet remote location. The cottage is centrally located and easily accessible to parks, resturants and local attractions.

Bronson Lake is part of the Platte River system and is classified as a 'No-Wake' lake, making it a peaceful setting abounding with a wide variety of birds and fine fishing for bass, bluegill, and pike. A rowboat, canoe, 2 kayaks and life jackets are provided for a relaxing time on the water. There is no sandy beach due to the soft marl lake bottom and approximately 60 stairs take you from the cottage down to the lake.

A large deck faces the lake with comfortable patio chairs and gas BBQ grill. The kitchen is fully furnished with utensils, cookware, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, electric stove, and refrigerator. The knotty pine interior has an open concept in the kitchen, dining, and living area featuring floor to ceiling windows facing the lake.

You can relax in the quiet surroundings of the cottage or take advantage of numerous activities offered in the heart of northwest lower Michigan. Golf courses for every level of player, Lake Michigan and inland lake beaches, the nostalgic Cherry Bowl drive-in theater, a host of fabulous restaurants and wineries, hiking and biking trails, along with many other activities are just a short drive away.

My new husband an I stayed here for our honeymoon. It was perfect! I love all of the windows in the living room. We sat on the deck or at the kitcken table drinking coffee each morning after making breakfast to enjoy the beautiful view of the trees and lake. The lication is very quiet and peaceful. Although there are neighbors, it was so quiet that it felt like we were the only ones there. Very romantic and cozzy sitting by the firepit at night. We had the lake all to ourselves except for 2 ducks who live on the lake. The ducks greeted us on the dock each morning as we fished. We miss this place already! The owner is very helpful and responds to inquiries quickly. I would definately stay here again! Thanks for everything Randy.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice comments. I'm glad the cottage suited your honeymoon stay. Sounds like you enjoyed the cottage and location as much as we do. It was a pleasure having you as a guest, and I hope you have an opportunity to stay again in the future.

Great place to stay! Very clean and well equipped. Even the water pressure in the shower was a treat. Quiet and peaceful. Close to all the wonders of "up north". Owner very pleasant to work with. Just don't follow Onstars directions to get to the cabin!! But if you do, Randy will be a great help!

Beautiful, Quiet, Peaceful, and Serene

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cabin and our stay. We brought our 18 month old for the week, and really was just perfect. My husband took advantage of the kayaks and the peaceful lake, we read on the deck while the baby napped, and we spent our evenings grilling and enjoying the peace and quiet. This cabin is just close enough to everything - Sleeping Bear, Traverse City, all of the cute towns and lighthouses, but just far enough away to feel secluded and in nature. It's got all of the amenities needed (a washer and dryer would have been nice, but otherwise, this place has it all). We drove 13 hours for this cabin, and it was well worth it! Highly recommend this home for anyone who wants to be "one with nature" while still enjoying all the comforts of home.

This cottage is very comfortable and well equipped - much better than a hotel or resort!

I wish I could share in this review the wonderful sounds of nature here - the birds, the loons, the frogs, and the coyotes.

I think people of all ages would enjoy this cottage. The steps down to the lake can be quite difficult for someone with disabilities or ill health. But there are beaches nearby that are accessible.

So come on up north and enjoy this little slice of heaven.
