We are located on the gentle leeward west coast of Aruba at Mangel Halto, overlooking the Spanish Lagoon where the surf quietly surges upon the protective reef.
The villa is a few feet back from the shore and 50 meters to a sandy beach and a safe swimming area. It is a choice site for snorkeling, scuba diving and kayaking.
Offshore pelicans dive for fish, kayaks pass, fishing boats go through a passage in the reef, and in the distance freighters and cruise ships pass. Here children play, snorkelers gaze at fish, and scuba divers head out to the coral reef.
Windsong Villa is located 15 minutes from both Oranjestad and San Nicolaas. It is close to splendid restaurants and walking distance to grocery stores. Bus service is a 10 minute walk from the Villa. Car rental is available locally.
The kitchen, dining and living areas are large. Ceiling fans in these areas and almost constant breezes keep the area comfortable.
The fully equipped European kitchen includes stovetop, wall oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster oven, blender. The washer and dryer are in the laundry/utility room next to the kitchen.
The bathrooms are fully tiled with hot water in the showers.

We are Canadians residing in Central Ontario and Aruba. Our first visit to Aruba was a scuba diving holiday in January 2006. We fell in love with Aruba and its people then and in April 2006 purchased our home on Spaanslagoen Weg. Our villa and guest cottage were completely renovated, the pool installed and pavers and garden put in. We've enjoyed several months living at Windsong Villa. Many weeks we have enjoyed the comfort and quietness of the guest cottage when the Villa has been rented to others. We love staying in the cottage.
We have done many shore dives at Mangel Halto in front of our house and at the Hole in the Wall dive site close by. Snorkeling and swimming are great too and just out the door!
Michael is a PADI certified Open Water Scuba Diving Instructor, # 211856. While in Aruba learn to dive with Mike Brown. Lessons can begin in the pool or in the sea across the road. You can even start the knowledge development portion by email. The rates are reasonable and competitive. If you are already a Scuba Diver and want to upgrade your qualifications to Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, or Dive master. Then ask Mike. Children can learn to become Bubble makers in the pool. An 8 year old or older can become a Junior Open Water Diver. There are a lot of options for the whole family, including swim lessons for adults and learning to safely and effectively snorkel. Contact Mike Brown.

Over the last two years we have been resident in Windsong Villa for more than 8 months. When we are not there, guests rent the villa however they tend to forget to write a review. Please check the reviews for Windsong Guest cottage at vrbo.com/224448 to see what our cottage guests say about Windsong and the area.
The home is spacious and has a beautiful setting with the ocean in your front yard and a pool in the back. The snorkeling across the street from the cottage is the best location on the island and the private beach just a short walking distance from the cottage was very beautiful. While we enjoyed our stay, we did have a few issues that were an inconvenience:
1. The dishwasher does not work. I had to hand wash dishes in cold water all week (no hot water in kitchen sink), which is not what I enjoy doing on vacation.
2. The shower heads in both bathrooms are broken, so you have to hold the handle during your shower for the water to hit you directly. Otherwise, it just hangs and the water goes everywhere.
3. The only TV which is in the main living area did not work because the modem was broken. The cable guy came to repair it but did not have a new modem, so no cable TV all week.
4. We only rented the villa not realizing that the outside cottage could be rented to complete strangers. This was not mentioned on the VRBO website. If I was aware of this possibility I would have included the cottage in our reservation so that we would have had the privacy that I expected when renting a private home. Although the couple who rented the cottage was very nice, it is a very small area in the back pool area and sharing this space with strangers was awkward.
The manager, Mr. Williams, was very friendly and helpful.
The villa is beautiful! Well kept and clean. The view out the front door is simply amazing! Right across the street is a beautiful beach! It's quiet and never crowded. The locals that come down to sit along the beach are very respectful of your privacy. Juan was simply amazing when we had questions or needed something looked in to here at the villa. I would recommend that you get a car when staying here, as you are quite a ways away from other beaches and excursions. Probably one of the most relaxing vacations I've had! A couple glitches with a couple of the appliances, but nothing that ruined our experience! A beautiful villa that I would definitely come to again!
Beautiful Villa. Enjoyed the outdoor BBQ/dining area and pool. Beach right across the road. Nearby restaurants were beyond my expectations.
The cottage was perfect for my family and I would definitely recommend this place. The owners were more than eager to answer questions and provided useful information and suggestions on things to do on the Island. Would definitely return!
It was a trip of a lifetime for our family of five (kids aged 10-16). We enjoyed being away from the resort area and with-in a short drive to such beautiful beaches. The accommodations were great. We found it to be very spacious, clean and comfortable; and the pool area was a big hit with the kids. We especially enjoyed barbequing and eating in the outdoor dining area. The owners were warm and welcoming, and gave us all the information we needed to make the most out of our stay. We hadn't expected the snorkeling and scuba diving, directly in front of the villa, to be so excellent. We also took advantage of their in-house PADI scuba diving instruction; first-rate! We wholeheartedly recommend you choose this oceanfront villa as your home base when travelling to Aruba.
I have had the privilege to stay at this property several times and am always overwhelmed at its beauty. The villa is so comfortable and accessible to the sea just outside the front door. I have enjoyed snorkeling in front of the villa and have seen many beautiful fish and coral there. Some days I chose to just swim in the ocean, walking on the clear sandy bottom.
Eating out on Aruba was very enjoyable, especially dining at some restaurants on the sandy beaches in the evening, watching the large sun sink into the ocean.
I will return.
enjoyed the villa
Spaanslagoen Weg goes along the shore. It is a lovely and interesting walk in either direction. The neighbourhood is safe and friendly to walk through. The beach is very close where you can soak in the sun or find shade under a palm umbrella.
The main area for shopping is in Oranjestad, however there are many stores throughout the island providing whatever one might need. Two grocery stores are nearby. A bar restaurant frequented by locals and visitors provides good food and a friendly welcome. It is right at Mangel Halto steps from Windsong.
There are many places we love to visit on the island. Among them are Arikok Park. Here you can enjoy a scenic drive to beautiful wild beaches (No swimming there!). Don't miss the visitors centre. Several trails are of great interest. It is best to go on them earlier in the morning to avoid the hottest part of the day. The Archeological Museum in Oranjestad is an excellent place to learn the history of the island.
