POST- HURRICANE IRMA UPDATE regarding KAWAMA (as of 10 Feb. '18):

Our condo, being on the 3rd floor of the Tower building did not sustain any damage by water/rain or wind, unlike many other rental units at Kawama.

Currently there are 2 pools available for use, as well as the Lagoon/Lake. The Tower Oasis pool sustained damage and it is currently out of commission.

One of the two Tower elevators currently is being repaired.

The Yacht Club marina and boat ramp is closed pending repairs.

The beach and jetty areas are signed as "off limits" however people are still enjoying these amenities, especially for seeing the fabulous sunsets on a clear day!

Grounds clean-up is just about 100% done.

Why Dr. Marianne Elia chose Key Largo

Key Largo is close to both Miami and Ft. Lauderdale International Airports, and is a fantastic island from which to explore the Keys. Key Largo was our choice as we wanted an oceanfront location, without any noise from the Intercoastal Hwy (US#1). All amenities and attractions are so close, and the Keys atmosphere prevails. Location is the best of both worlds!

What makes this condo unique

Kawama is situated well off of US#1, and is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on one side, 'parkland' with John Pennekamp State Park just to the north and a bird sanctuary to the southwest. Very quiet and relaxing location, with beautiful professionally maintained grounds. Yet it is so conveniently located to the major shopping areas and restaurants in Key Largo.

Tastefully decorated with tropical accessories. New towels and amenities. New Waterpic shower head gives choice of showers. Second bathroom also features new granite topped vanity and matching medicine cabinet, and is also decorated in a tropical theme. New funky shower head with water that automatically changes color based on water temperature. This is a hit with the kids! Plenty of towels, including beach towels. Separate, private laundry room also is part of our condo unit.

  • Master Bedroom is beautiful & spacious, with new furnishings, bed linens, his and her closets and ensuite 5 pc. bathroom. Overlooks Marina and Atlantic Ocean. Second Bedroom is private and has separate external entrance. Adjoining 4 piece bathroom with new granite topped vanity and matching cabinetry/mirror. Suite can be made completely private by locking door into main living area of condo. 2nd bedroom has 1 Queen bed, 1 Double bed with a sink bunk bed above it. New Queen box spring and mattress set and new bed linens (so new they aren't shown in our newly posted video). New bamboo inlaid dresser, night table and matching table lamp. Whimsical wood and iron Parakeets and fish decorate the walls of this second bedroom, along with cute lifeguard post floor lamp. Plentiful storage with 2 dressers and 2 large closets. Abundant towels, including beach towels. Very tastefully decorated. Condo also has separate, private laundry room.

Relaxing Spring Break Getaway!

Great location and the condo grounds are beautiful! The kids loved the tennis courts and enjoyed activities in the area such as snorkeling, airboat rides, and our day trip to Key West! Any questions we had, Marianne responded within a few hours.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. Glad you enjoyed your stay! Yes, our condo is tucked well away from the busy US#1 highway which is the only one through The Keys. Our condo is tucked away on the Ocean Side, yet close enough to the main commercial area of Key Largo, which offers supermarkets, fresh produce stands, pharmacies, clothing and souvenir stores amongst more. Jacobs Park, very close (within about 1 mile) offers a skate boarding park, basketball courts, swimming pools with 3 different levels of diving boards etc. John Pennekamp State Marine Park is adjacent, with kayaking/canoeing though the Atlantic Ocean mangroves, boat tours, beach, fishing etc. Lots of great restaurants in close proximity as well, including Pilot's House with a glass floor bar, overlooking their marina, and The Fish Company, which supplies fresh caught seafood to a good part of the US. Lots of other local restaurants to explore. Check out our guest book which is in the condo for other suggestions. Of course, you can choose to prepare dinner at our condo in our fully equipped kitchen, and with an electric bbq on the balcony. Our condo is indeed well situated to explore all of The Keys, and their attractions. And the décor is upscale Keys! Just pack your bags and come. Our condo has everything you'll need. Very nice..

A lovely unit fully equipped with everything you need. Great location for easy access to state park and snorkel excursions. Our flights were changed last minute due to storms in Philadelphia. The owner very graciously allowed us to check in early, avoiding the need for a hotel room on the front end. Thank you!

We strive to make every experience staying at our condo enjoyable and I am indeed available for any question you may have. Yes, at 1322 sf all on one level with layout and windows fanning out to the ocean our condo offers great views and memories to be had. We've equipped our condo with high end tropical furniture and have a full kitchen with breakfast bar, as well as a separate dinning table, and expansive living room, not to mention 2 bedrooms, each with their separate bathrooms. All essentials are available, including private laundry room! Tennis racquets, beach toys etc. are also available. Quiet, secure location on Atlantic Ocean but close to the Key Largo commercial district which provides all the amenities of home and great restaurants! John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is adjacent to Kawama. Our condo is a great base to explore The Keys!

Spacious Unit but Erma still Evident

The unit is very spacious, well laid out, and well equipped. The balcony has partial view of marina and ocean but you look directly out at other Villa’s patio’s and balconies. The area around the condo is still not in good shape, still working on damage from Erma. Overall, we had a great time and found many great restaurants nearby.

Our condo has one of the best marina and ocean views of all Tower condos as it is on the corner of the front side, and not overlooking the tennis courts or back parking lot or back roadway as other condos do. Indeed, most Kawama condos have no ocean views at all. The only condos (excluding the villas) that have ocean views are the Tower condos that are on the "front" side of the building. The balcony photo on our website was taken from our condo's balcony. There there are some villas to the right of our condo. Most people will choose to look straight or to the left when sitting out on the balcony. Indeed the condo is spacious, well laid-out, well equipped and close to all great restaurants and shops. It is a great location to explore The Keys as it is in a quiet location, tucked well away from US#1 highway. Post-Irma clean up/fix ups are continuing and from what I'm told, are progressing well. Note that our condo was not damaged by Irma.

The floor to ceiling mirror in the living area brings even more ocean views inside the condo. Kawama is a fully gated community with 24x7 security. Our condo is well stocked with all the amenities of home. Just pack your bags and enjoy a peaceful, relaxing location from which you can explore The Keys!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. Glad you enjoyed your stay! The distance to the ocean, not including the marina right in front of us, is 100m or less. You can't get very much closer to the ocean! And the ocean views are spectacular! We recommend you go to the end of the esplanade for great sunsets and sunrises! Our furniture is only 5 years old and in good condition, very good quality and in good shape, in a up-scale tropical theme (not like others), as shown in the photos. Our condo at 1322 sf is large, all on one floor and in an open-concept design flaring out to the ocean in a v-like design. Separate spacious second living quarters are included, with separate external entrance, bedroom and bathroom with hallway separating it from the main living area. Separate full laundry room also! Tennis racquets and pool toys are also in the condo, available for your use.

Kawama Yacht Club is located in Key Largo, the northern-most & largest island of the Florida Keys. Only a scenic 1 hour drive south of Miami. This beautiful 30+ acre gated resort has 24 hr security & is set on an unspoiled peninsula jetting into the Atlantic Ocean between a bird sanctuary to the south & John Pennekamp Marine Coral Reef State Park to the north.

The on-site Molasses Reef Marina caters to individuals wishing to bring their own watercraft, with complimentary boat launch & storage facilities for renters. Slip rentals are available. Enjoy spectacular sunsets from our 400' esplanade!!

Key Largo is known as the scuba diving & snorkeling capital of continental North America! Enjoy watersports, casino or sunset cruises & a variety of fishing charters nearby. Or relax in 1 of 2 in-ground heated pools. Visit the 100' swimming lagoon with 3 swimming platforms, small beach & which is stocked with tropical fish. Play tennis. Kids will love the playground.

Fish from the Kawama jetty!!! Great fishing is available all around the Florida Keys!!!

Golf: Semi-private golf is available in Homestead, about a 30 minute drive north of Key Largo. I understand that golf club rentals are available.

An additional fee of $20/person per night will be added if more than 4 persons are in your party. A Kawama Gate Form will be provided upon booking to identify persons in your party, as well as car(s) and any boat. Note that if you plan on bringing a boat into Kawama you must provide proof to the Kawama Security Gate of a minimum $300K liability insurance on your boat/trailer.

$100 post-stay cleaning fee will be added. If your checkout date is on a statutory holiday, the post-stay cleaning fee will be $150.

Absolutely no pets allowed.

Any rental fees paid > 60 days prior to your planned arrival date are refundable at 50%. Any rental fees paid < 60 days prior to your planned arrival date are not refundable. Having said this, in the event that you need to cancel your booking I will attempt to rent out the dates reserved for you, and refund you accordingly based on rental fees obtained (may be lower than what you paid due to a "Sell-Off" scenario. I will do my best to re-book dates in this circumstance.

  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
