This is my retirement home, but family demands required I temporarily move to Lake Arrowhead. It wouldn't be good to leave it empty so I decided to rent it to families to let them enjoy the same environment that my family enjoy. I am a professional and my career was in corporate tax with large corporations. However, I always had time to visit Yosemite or its surrounding to hike and backpack. My goal was always to move near Yosemite.
Suzann purchased this House in 2005
Why Suzann chose Madera County
Cascadel House is located in the most beautiful historic valley that has retained a secluded piece of the Sierra. Most Sierra foothills or historic area are overbuilt and very busy. We, in Cascadel Woods, have no commercial enterprises, traffic within the valley is only there for a purpose or is a resident. My first day after moving in, I walked across the bridge down to the cascades. Truly, I felt I was in a beautiful state park. Even the sounds of children playing brought me to that feeling.
What makes this House unique
Across the lane in front of my deck is a 40-acre open space area with a huge meadow, trails and an all-year creek. Across the meadow is a gravel/dirt road created well before 1880, but dedicated to the reigning county in that year. It is so peaceful to walk the community trails and the dirt road or hike the trail in the national forest that surround our valley. There is a two-volume trail guide just for horseback riders. Residents ride their mountain or dirt bikes up Autumn Road to explore the miles and miles of trails, Whiskey Falls, Shut-eye Peak and so on. As an avid hiker, there are unlimited places to explore. That makes me excited to begin my day. In the winter, skiing at Badger is about an hour away; skiing at China Peak is about 1.5 hours away. There is ice skating in Yosemite Valley and at Tenaya Lodge in Fish Camp. After a snow (which usually melts in a few weeks), residents make cross country ski trails and do some sledding. Cross country skiing, snow shoeing, and a snow park are available before entering the Yosemite south entrance as well. Imagine hiking through the snow in Mariposa Grove in the winter. The clear air and blue skies set off the big trees with striking definition. And then the wildlife. Healthy in their natural environment not being fed by humans. We have a bear, lots of deer, a mountain lion, squirrels, quail, raccoon, and many birds. Cascadelwoods.org logs the wildlife and the history of our special area. Please visit it. You will be impressed.

Lovely home with all the amenities. Beautiful location, the sound of the creek and singing of the birds early in the morning was definitely relaxing. The kids had an amazing time and were excited to see a deer at their window. Thank you Ms. Susann Foster for letting us rent your home. We will be returning.
Since I have owned the home, does have walked through the carport to graze in the empty lot next door. Every morning I could see there hoof prints. Just one of the elements of nature. So thank you for the lovely description of what I see and feel when I am in Cascadel. You conveyed the feeling exactly and I do hope you and your families return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The house was perfect for our group ranging in age from 16-70! We spent a couple days boating at Bass Lake. Suzann had wonderful suggestions for traveling with our dog and spots to visit. Would definitely rent this house again!
Peaceful surroundings that were enjoyed by all.
We greatly enjoyed our stay. The property was clean, well maintained, and proved to be in close proximity for us to visit Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Yosemite National Parks, as well as enjoy a couple of fun days at Bass Lake. We really liked the relaxing atmosphere of the property and its surrounding community as it provided a couple of much needed days of rest and relaxation. Or kids enjoyed exploring the local creek and waterfalls and seeing the area wildlife.
We're grateful to Suzann for her guidance regarding the local surroundings and parks access. She was very helpful and responded promptly to all of our questions. We really enjoyed the burgers at the Buckhorn Saloon and the pizza at the Pizza Factory.
If you're looking for a place reasonably close to several national parks, and yet not in a residential setting, then this is your spot. Happy vacations to all who choose to stay here; we would definitely return!
Thank you so much Gregg, you were a pleasure to work with. And, I also appreciate that you really took advantage of the areas that count in the Sierra. At the ones I think are important to get the flavor of the environment both natural and character. Hope you visit again. Suzann
The house was lovely. It had everything we needed for a family vacation with kids. We loved exploring the surrounding areas, including Bass Lake and Yosemite. A perfect property for us!
Big, Comfortable Home
10 of us had a very nice stay at this house. It was more than enough space for 10 people. We enjoyed hanging out on the balcony and grilling. There is a nice swim hole near by with a lot of waterfalls gushing this time of year. Every one of us enjoyed going there to hang out a couple of times. We rented a plantoon boat on Bass Lake one day and went to Yosemite another day. Suzann was easy to reach for any questions that we had. Her house is equipped with everything that we needed for a very pleasant stay. We will definitely come back to stay again in the future.
Memorable stay at the Cascadel House
The house is very beautiful and spacious, the living room was a great space for us to play board games at night. Everything we needed for our 3-night stay was provided at the house, we only had to bring foods to prepare/cook, cookwares and dining utensils were all provided. There's AC and extra blankets so no need to worry about having a bad night of sleep, beds were comfortable. We also got to enjoy the jacuzzi, after our hiking day, which was a blast.
Suzann was very nice and provided helpful info prior to our visit to Yosemite and accommodated our needs, we will definitely come back to stay for another Yosemite trip.
Hundreds of trails and roads for hiking, mountain biking, off-road vehicles or dirt bikes. These are all in the neighborhood . I and my family avidly participate in all of these activities. Also, fantastic pianist at the Wawona Hotel five nights a week. BBQ and squaredancing for entire family (any age) on Saturday nights.
