Kihei Maui Private Beachfront House Sleeps 6; One of Two Adjacent Homes Perfect!

Bedrooms 2
Space 950 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 5 nights

About the property

This 1960's Hawaiian House/Cottage 2 bedroom/2 BA (Slps 4-6) Beachfront Property

Private home, approximately 75 yards across spacious lawn with palm trees to a low dune and sandy beach.

The house is adjacent to a 4-bedroom house also available for rent (see HomeAway Listing No. 281823 or VRBO Listing No. 73607).

Quiet residential area, with a hand-cut lava-rock wall ensuring privacy, but only a short walk to shopping and restaurants.

The home is built on one level and made of redwood, with beamed ceilings and large windows. A large lanai faces toward the beach.

The yard contains lemon and banana trees and other tropical plants. The large lawn area between the house and the beach (shared with the adjacent house) is State land. The property is, however, maintained meticulously maintained by property owner. The beautiful property has over 40+ of palm trees and a huge Banyan Tree that is over a hundred +years old. Kids love to climb this one also is great for photos.

Just a short walk across the lawn area and you are on a peaceful beach, on a shallow lagoon with a fringing reef, where locals fish and gather seaweed in the tidepools. Beyond the lagoon is the open water, facing west to beautiful sunsets. Whales can sometimes be seen and heard beyond the reef during the whale season.

We recommend you rent from a licensed and permitted property. You do stand the chance of loosing your reservation and fees paid, if property is not properly permitted.

To the northwest the West Maui mountains dominate. The area is also used for surfing, windsurfing, kayaking or paddle-boarding. Also great small waves (depending on the weather) for bodysurfing.

What makes this house unique

We find it is very difficult to find a legally permitted beachfront home in Kihei Town.

The home is located in a nice, quiet, residential neighborhood. You can walk for approximately 6 miles, on a sandy beach. This makes it so nice to runners and children to have so much room to roam around on. Our home has by a handmade Lava Rock Wall, to add to your privacy. Property has over 40 palm trees adorn the property, making the property very shaded for sitting on beach chairs reading a book or watching the family play.

We have listened carefully to our guests over the years, and taken their suggestions seriously. We are happy to hear your suggestions to make our home more appealing to our treasured guests. We really do care about your vacation and your suggestions to improve our property. Thank you for considering our home for your vacation.

Note: We do not allow weddings and/or wedding receptions on our property.

This is a wonderful family or friends home. Unique home and property. One of the homes, that hasn't been torn down for new buildings. The home and property has been totaled updated. Although, all of the original structure remains in tact. If you are looking for a true Hawaiian experience, this is the home and property for you and your family.

Tranquil tropical treat

  • 4 of 5

The setting is so peaceful and beautiful. Very quiet, except for a weekend when a Harley motorcycle group were going up and down the street a lot. Many choices of restaurants, groceries, etc. within walking distance, yet when you get back, the house feels a world away. The beach is beautiful and quite secluded, but not really a beach for swimming. Paddle board surfing, yes! The house is comfortable and fairly well equipped. We were glad for AC in the bedrooms. Would definitely consider coming back.

Amazing beachfront home in paradise

  • 5 of 5

I don't even know where to start. This little piece of paradise has everything. A beautiful beach, sandy that leads into a level layer of rock(bring your water shoes and you'll be fine), they also have some there. Huge yard with lots of trees providing ample shade. Perfect space to play with kids when you aren't out visiting the other amazing swimming spots at nearby beaches. Or visiting South Maui Fish Company(amazing everything), the pineapple slaw is the best. Paia Fish Market is also a delicious stop for great fish and chips, fish tacos, the list goes on.

The house was perfect with loads of space for hanging out. The murphy bed in the living room can be left open without causing any disruption to the space. Rooms are great and the bathrooms are perfect, don't be looking for a soak in a bath unless you are less than 5 years old. Perfect little tub in one of the showers for a little one.

Brian was on site for most of our trip and he was so friendly and helpful if we needed anything. I also got to sneak a peak at the house next door as it was unoccupied and it is also amazing if you are looking to a larger house.

Peaceful, amazing ocean views

  • 4 of 5

Traditional old style Hawaii cottage in a prime location on Maui. Stunning ocean views and direct access to beach (good for morning and evening walks). Flock of wild/feral chickens are charming, however the rooster crows very early in the morning! Outdoor dining on the lanai is so relaxing. Large lawn with Banyan tree is wonderful for kids and teens. Bathrooms and kitchen are small, but serviceable. Owner is highly responsive and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

Better than the photos portrayed. Lovely, quiet, tranquil.

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully maintained property, very clean accommodations. Very quiet beachfront neighborhood. Beach is not the sugar sand type but we enjoyed it. Huge sea turtles popped up on beach regularly to say hello and we could see whales often from our porch. Lovely location for a restful place to reset. Thank you Brian and Mitzi.

The beach is on a shallow lagoon with a fringing reef, where locals fish and gather seaweed in the tide pools. Depending on time of the year and the weather. Beyond the lagoon is the open water, facing west to beautiful sunsets. Whales can sometimes be seen and heard beyond the reef during the whale season. To the northwest the West Maui Mountains dominate. Our beach is very private with very few tourists. As it is located in local neighborhood. You are able to walk, within 4 minutes to many local shops, grocery stores, restaurants, McDonalds, Taco Bell, (and more), churches, drug stores, Kaiser, many rental companies for snorkeling, biggie board rental, surf boards, paddle boards and more. Safeway is located 3 blocks from the house and a local market, (great for fresh caught fish and local foods) There is a local Kihei Aquatic Center just 3 blocks away, that has free swimming in their 4 swimming pools. Our grandchildren love the High Dive Boards! There is also a wonderful toddler pool with big mushroom waterfall, the toddlers love it! Many fresh fruit and local fruit stands are near by. The last 5 years, the large sea turtles have come to lay their eggs at the end of the lawn area. If you come at a time when the turtles are hatching, you with see an opportunity of a life time. Watch the newly hatched babies make their way to the ocean at night. It is a sight to behold. Ocean waves can be heard and whales slapping their tails in the ocean, from the house. Especially, at night. we would suggest bringing binoculars. The Whale Foundation is located just blocks from the house. Many charter boats for Ocean fishing trips, whale watching boats, tour boats, snorkeling boats, all located close to the house. No need to drive around the island for catch a good tour. There is a large community park just a couple of blocks away with many activities, great for children. Skating park, volleyball, picnic areas with BBQ'S, skateboard park, children playground. Great family fun for all located on Kamaole Beach. One of 3 Kamaole Beachs. Locals note them as the Best Beaches on Maui. Many local golf courses are near by, including the beautiful Wailea Golf Courses. You might get luck and watch a Professional to the public.

As you drive to the house from the airport, you might find it helpful to stop by Costco, Target, Walmart and more, to get your groceries and personal needs.

Kihei Town area is a very small, local town. Easy to get around, has really anything you could want during your visit. House is conveniently located for your convenience. Our guests love being able to walk to local shops and restaurants. Please let us know if you have any questions about your stay. We are more than happy to help you.
