Jekyll Island comes closest to an 'Island' experience still being part of the continental US. Jekyll Island is a totally restful, family-friendly Island and vacation destination for those wanting to relax, enjoy nature and the ocean on an Island right here in the US (no ferry necessary). Only 35% of the Island is built on, as part of a Georgia state mandate for the Island, while 65% of the Island remains nature-like. Over 20+ miles of bike paths are available, with paths in a maritime forest, the National Historic District and simply riding bikes on the beach. Bike rentals are available. This is one of the rare islands in the US where pets are welcome, including on beaches.

4 Island golf courses are a short drive, less than 2 miles and only minutes away by car. All courses are unobtrusive by residential or commercial development. The challenges of Jekyll’s 63 holes on four courses are matched by the sheer beauty of the location, set in a coastal environment of warm breezes and sunshine. These courses offer spectacular scenery, not only a challenging game, but also a striking setting for play.

And Driftwood Beach, only 1 mile north, is recognized as one of America’s Most Romantic Beaches by Travelocity.

Jekyll Island's Historic District is home of the Jekyll Island Club. It became what Munsey’s Magazine called “the richest, most inaccessible club in the world'. Club members included John D. Rockefeller, J.P. Morgan, Joseph Pulitzer, William K. Vanderbilt, and Marshall Field, among others. In 1972, the Jekyll Island Club was designated as historic by being placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 240-acre site and 33 historic structures is now part of the National Historic Landmark program, one of the largest, ongoing restoration projects in the southeastern United States, receiving numerous awards and recognitions.

Rentals are coordinated by on-island agent Parker-Kaufman which is available for linen rentals and emergency services 24 hours. Your satisfaction and enjoyment of Jekyll is our goal.

About The Owner

Twenty+ years ago we stopped at Jekyll on our way home from a very tiring week at Disneyworld. It was love at first sight. Since then, Jekyll has become our home away from home and we have visited often, now acquiring the Seaview residence. Jekyll Island is a totally restful, family-friendly Island and vacation destination for those wanting to relax, enjoy nature and the ocean on an Island right here in the U.S. (no ferry necessary).

Having grown up in New Jersey and New York Long Island areas, we loved going to the beaches at the Jersey shore and Long Island. We never missed the crowds, however, that went with the beaches. Jekyll Island is different - with 35% of the island built on, and the remaining 65% protected for nature, the Island is never really crowded. We cannot remember a time there was ever traffic on the Island, even to this day. This is rare and we think Jekyll will continue to be one of the few Islands in the continental US that is never over-crowded, and relaxing with that genuine Southern hospitality. Whenever we cross the bridge onto Jekyll, we I can feel the blood pressure dropping 20 points and know that we are 'home'. We hope that you make Jekyll Seaview your home away from home, as we have.

The Owner purchased this house in 2011

Why The Owner chose Jekyll Island

Our property is only the 3rd house from the water and an easy walk to beach access. We bought the property because of its open floor plan, bright rooms, all on one level, ranch style, with easy access throughout the house. The flow of the house is great with easy access to the galley kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms. The Jekyll (Sun) Room, with its floor to ceiling windows, lets the light in anytime and has become the main gathering area in the house. The patio just outside the Jekyll Room is a great way to start the day with a cup of coffee or tea listening to the waves, or simply watching the stars at night. There is almost no light pollution on Jekyll Island, far enough away from the major shopping centers, only a 20-30 minute drive away.

When we purchased the property in 2011, we kept the policy as pet friendly year round as was previously. We have pets ourselves and know they are our extended family and appreciate when we can bring them with us. We know how important your pets are to you as our guest and welcome families with pets. We simply ask that guests help keep the house clean while pets are on the property and treat the house as their own. We are proud of the house as well maintained and clean for new guests when they arrive.

What makes this house unique

What made us fall in love with our home was its close proximity to the beach, its full porch and patio area, plenty of room for multiple cars, its bright and airy 'feel' throughout the house, and beach theme and signs throughout the house. We love the vaulted ceilings in the living room and Jekyll room, and there is plenty of seating and tables for smaller groups to 'get together' and co-mingle in areas like the living room, the dining area, the Jekyll room sitting area with TV, breakfast nook area, and Jekyll room dining area. The outdoor shower is also a nice touch when coming back from the beach and getting the sand off your toes. The house and the Island says ‘relax’ wherever you are.

We fell in love with Jekyll Island because of its laid back and relaxing demeanor, no traffic lights, and uncrowded nature of the Island. There are few places left in the U.S. you can call relaxing while being on vacation without much traffic, and Jekyll Island is one of those special places.

Beautiful Sunrise

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful relaxing home walking distance to the beach at which I was able to experience a beautiful sunrise to start each day. This home is very comfortable with a large open floor plan to spread out and relax. We gathered in the Jekyll room or outdoor patio to share our meals, our thoughts and enjoy each other's company. This home is fully furnished with all appliances and a fully equipped kitchen to give a feeling of home.

This is my third time to Jekyll Island and I find the history, peacefulness and beauty of the Island to be a perfect getaway. Would recommend this home to families or a group of friends as there are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms - plenty of room for everyone! I look forward to a return trip to Jekyll Island and stay at this home. I also would recommend it to my friends and family!!!!

Nice, but...

  • 2 of 5

On the good side, the house is very spacious, except for the kitchen. The furnishings are nice but the bathrooms are dated and in need of cosmetic repair. The bad is that there is no beach "steps away". There is a stairs labelled "beach access" but that leads you directly into the water or onto rocks,. depending upon the tides. I'm told by a resident that the beach has all gone south years ago from the houses on the northern end. So getting to the beach requires a car trip. I don't recommend for small children or the disabled because there is a small step that's hard to see to between the front door and the rest of the house, and that step is not marked or flagged in any way except with a note on the entrance table. There's also a similar step up from the entrance to one of the bedrooms but that one is slightly marked with some flagging material. I'd probably stay elsewhere next time.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your response, we appreciate your input. Seaview Cottage is located in the northern half of Jekyll Island’s residential area, where most residences are. Nearly all residences on this side enjoy accessible hard packed sand beach approximately half the day. Jekyll has two high tides and two low tides each day. We have a tide clock in our Jekyll Room so guests know when there is a high and low tide. The access steps to the beach are maintained by the Jekyll Island Authority, and in our opinion, well maintained. Seaview Cottage also offers pool privileges at one of Jekyll Island’s local hotels featuring two good size pools and a hot tub, providing an alternate place to swim during high tide (limited beach access) periods. Seaview Cottage was originally a very simple 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with a small garage. The home has been greatly expanded to 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths. It now offers two master bedrooms as well as the addition of a large sun room. The remodeling required a slight 4 or 5 inch step up from the exterior ground level foyer entrance to the main living area and the garage conversion to a 2nd master bedroom and bath. There is a handrail in place at the step up to denote there is a small step and to assist in making the transition. The remodeling has made Seaview Cottage a wonderful property, offering spacious comfort in a pet friendly home which is rented frequently. Some updates to our bathrooms have already been made and we continue to improve on them. Reviews on both VRBO and in our Guest Book at the house are very high, and we experience guests coming back regularly as a result. We welcome a follow up conversation to help ensure your future stay on Jekyll Island, and possibly Seaview Cottage, is a memorable one.

A southern charmer for sure!

  • 5 of 5

Great location! Super spacious and sunny property. This house was so cute and well maintained on a peaceful, beach access street. We loved the inside island decor and the outside green, plush landscape. The patio areas were our favorite spots for morning coffee and chatter about the upcoming day's activities. We walked to the beach access area for some fun on the "stairway into the ocean" - so cool- gotta try it folks, hang on to the railings! Fun, accessible bike ride from the house to all over Jekyll Island. We really loved our trip to JI, and staying in this adorable house was a super big part of our great time. Considering that we arrived only hours after Hurricane Hermine, we could not have been happier with everything and are soooooo looking forward to coming back to visit and staying here again. Big rooms, high ceilings, great kitchen for cooking, plenty of bathrooms, televisions. A true home away from home in the middle of a historic sanctuary - Thank you kindly for such wonderful hospitality!

The washer and dryer are handy, too!! It is spacious and beautifully decorated! I am fond of the "seaside decor." There are numerous books and board games to enjoy! The is a TV in each bedroom so everyone can watch their favorite program. This is absolutely my favorite place to stay!! I highly recommend it!!!!

So Thankful We Did This

  • 5 of 5

Since my return home, when people ask about our vacation and the home we stayed in, my answer is simple. The house sleeps twelve (12) and we had no problems. Enough bathrooms, enough room that even when everyone was in the house, we were never on top of each other. The style of the home and the décor made it truly feel like home away from home. The Island is beautiful, and activities enough to keep you as busy as you want to be. A week of rest and relaxation was what we wanted and is what we got. Definitely rent this home, you will not be disappointed.

What a terrific place

  • 5 of 5

Our vacation last September in Jekyll Island is one that my family will never forget. The best part of the vacation was the house we rented. The place was just so warm and inviting; the best compliment I can pay the owners of this house is it felt like home. I have stayed in many hotels, and resorts. . . But nothing can compare to coming back from a day playing at the beach or riding bikes, or visiting the Shrimp and Grits Festival and relaxing in what can only be described as home.

This place had everything from great sleeping beds, comfortable, relaxing couches, washers, dryers, and a full kitchen. . . Plus a grill for those moments you just have to have a great hot dog and hamburgers. . . YUM!!!

We enjoyed it so much, we are coming back this July to revisit our vacation "home"!

If you are looking for a place to get away, relax and unwind. . .then this house is just what you need :)
