Clean with all the amenities needed.

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for a week July 2018. Owner answered all questions I had timely. Property was clean, plenty of dishes and silverware. our family of 6 fit comfortably the entire week and still had room when 2 others joined us for a few days.located right on the lake. We used the gas grill for breakfast and dinner each day. would recommend property and would return. Thanks for making our vacation so enjoyable.

Excellent location!!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second year staying at this cottage and we absolutely love it. The location is perfect in the protected bay, the water temp is perfect and also great for tubing here! Close to all shopping and fun activities. Kids have a blast on the sandy beach, with 3 bedrooms and plenty of couches, we have lots of space to spread out with our 4 children.

We stayed in the house this past August. The house itself was nice and right on the beach, which is exactly what we were looking for. We wanted to kids to play in the water, swim, and grown up relax near them on the beach. Unfortunately, kids got the "duck itch" right the next day after spending a few hours in the water. They were miserable for the next few days, itching and scratching....I was communicating with the owner and discovered that she knew about this problem in the lake, however did not warn us.

If you are renting a house and would like to enjoy the water, this is not a house or lake.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately, August 2016 was a bad month for "swimmers' itch". Evidently the record drought and therefore low water levels contributed to the problem. This was the case in the entire lakes area, not just Sebago Lake. That said, we provide "camp clues" for our renters in which we recommend that swimmers rinse off after being in the water. We have since done extensive research and have found that we can treat the beach area with an EPA approved chemical that should alievate the problem, which is caused by a snail in the sand. Swimmers away from the shore do not seem to be affected. We are very proud of our cottage and try to provide the best possible experience for our guests.

Quiet house with incredible views of Sebago Basin

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week long vacation at this wonderful house. Its down a quiet private road and there are views of the Sebago Basin from almost every room! The basin water was warmer, calmer and even more peaceful than being on the big lake. The house has 2 sets of stairs to walk into sandy shallow water to easily enjoy the lake which was perfect for the kids (age 1, 2.5 and 5). We rented a boat for one day and were able to use the boat mooring to enjoy the lake to its fullest. The house was very clean and stocked with plenty of linens and kitchen utensils. We enjoyed a big family dinner on the dining room table on the lower level that allowed us to watch the sun start to set over our meal. It was nice to fall asleep to the lapping of the water on the shore, or hear the loons crying overnight. Sebago Lake State Park was around 20 min or so from the house and was beautiful to experience for a few hours. Seacoast Aventure Park was perfect for the kids (go-karts, mini golf), literally only 5 minutes down the road. We also highly recommend trying 'Bomb Diggity Cafe' for delicious breakfasts, lunches or pastries - we went here at least 3 times during our trip!

The owner was responsive and very easy to work with. We hope to rent this house again in the future.

Beautiful place but unreasonable cleaning expectations

  • 2 of 5

This is a beautiful property on a a secluded section of the lake. It is very comfortable and spacious with lots of amenities. Gorgeous lake views. They leave an incredibly detailed list of cleaning duties and ask for a large cleaning deposit. We got up early the last day of our rental (we were required to leave by 10am) and our whole family of five adults spent three hours of our vacation cleaning, following every detail to the letter, including vacuuming as required by the list - and the owners still refused to return $50 of our cleaning deposit. We had perfectly normal usage during our stay - no parties, no unusual usage and we are not messy people, there were no children in our party and for half the week only 2 people were staying in the house. As a frequent user of VRBO, I felt that other renters should be aware of this policy - we've rented often and never had this problem before. It put a very bad taste in our mouths and because of it we would not consider renting this property again.

Owner's Response: We require a $500 security deposit and indicate that if basic cleaning is not done, a cleaning fee will be withheld. We also provide a checklist so there is no question of what needs to be done. In the 15 years that we have been renting we have only withheld a cleaning fee 3 times and do not believe that our expectations are unreasonable, especially because we have many repeat renters.

Sebago Rental

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at this property. There were 6 (4 adults-2 teenagers) and 2 dogs Plenty of room, and plenty of sunshine. The lake was great. Right out the patio doors and you are in the water. The basin was much calmer than the main lake which made it fun for tubing and leisurely rides on the boat.

The house was kept very clean and had all the ammenities you'd need. The house was plenty big for a couple of guests to stop by. The area was very convienent to go shopping, about a 5 minute ride at best. I'd definitely recommend this rental and hope to rent again next year.
