Come visit for a romantic weekend getaway or stay with the kids for a week or two! Spacious private studio cottage is located just 12 houses from the beach at Pleasure Point, famous for a world class surf break and miles of beautiful beach in either direction. Pleasure Point Beaches were the set for much of the movie Chasing Mavericks.

The cottage is 500 Square feet and has all of the amenities you need for a fun filled trip to Santa Cruz. Two new cruiser bikes with locks for you to peddle around town and take in the sights are provided. The private yard has its own BBQ and hot tub for relaxing in the bamboo garden after along day of play.

A decorators hint of the Hawaiian Islands will relax anyone at this wonderful studio/cottage it will be just the escape you are looking for!

The studio has a queen bed and a comfortable double futon to allow for up to 4 guests to sleep in style. There is also a third bed, a twin foam sleeper. A skylight and a small fireplace adds to the romantic ambiance of the private cottage.

Most of all be sure to take advantage of the beach and surrounding beauty of the Santa Cruz Coast.

Homeowner Bryan Garrison has 2 children and is an avid surfer, paddle boarder and all around waterman. The whole family loves the outdoors are all very active. The family loves to travel, but has such a deep love for the people and the warmth of Santa Cruz, there is no place he would rather be. Most evenings you can find him down on the beach as his lab Jake dives for rocks in the ocean, the kids covered with sand...their faces bright with smiles.

Our family loves spending time in Santa Cruz. We are a surfing, ocean exploring family and over the years here, we find we are surrounded by a community unlike any other we have found. Kids playing in the streets until dark, walking on the beach as the sun sets, saying hello to neighbors at every turn. Our home is just a block from the beach and some of the best surf spots in Santa Cruz. There are markets and cafes within walking distance and the quaint town of Capitola is just a short bike ride away. The Spring and Fall are our finest seasons, with warm clear days and no summer fog. There is so much to do in Santa Cruz, one just need to be pointed in the right direction!

What makes this studio unique

The Bamboo Garden Studio has all of the amenities of home, just a bit closer to the beach! We have a fabulous hot tub for 4 surrounded by a bamboo garden. Outdoor seating and a gas BBQ grill for warm evening cooking fresh fish from the farmers market. On chilly nights there is a small corner fireplace that quickly turns the studio into a cozy getaway. We have furnished the space in clean, elegant island decor that is soothing and always immaculate. 2 new cruiser bikes are at your disposal for exploring the coast by bicycle, and boogie boards, sand toys and towels are on site already so you don't have to pack extra gear. Since the studio is nestled behind our family home, we are always near by in case you have a question about local restaurants or the best dog friendly beaches. We offer surf lessons as well as Honeymoon packages, fresh grocery delivery and many more extras upon request.

perfect for what we wanted

This place was perfect for our two night stay. Our main focus was walking distance to the beach and this was definitely it! It's not fancy, but totally comfortable, clean and had what we needed; a bed and kitchenette. The TV wasn't in working order - not really the TV itself but probably the cable box. But since we weren't there to watch tv we were ok with it. we had a car but chose to take a LYFT into Santa Cruz one evening, only a $12 ride. I'd recommend it for people just wanting a simple beach weekend.

Centrally located and the ocean is close by too

The bamboo studio is quaint, comfortable, and within walking distance of the beach or many restaurants. We especially enjoyed twalking through the neighborhood to take in the unique ocean flora and colorful character of the homes. It is also not far from Santa Cruz harbor and the wharf in capitola.

Nice large room for a family of 4

This was an unexpectedly large room for our family of four to stay in. It comfortably slept all of us in the bed, futon and fold out chair (perfect for our 7-year old). The kitchenette was everything we needed and everything was clean. The location is a block from the bluffs where you can watch surfers or walk/bike around.

It's about 15 minutes from the Boardwalk, which isn't too far, but the traffic can make it a bit more of a drive than we thought it would be. If you stay here and like coffee/pastries, be sure to check out "Cat & Cloud" up the street. Best coffee/pastries ever (seriously).

It's about LOCATION

We already knew this location would be beautiful. We booked another VRBO in Pleasure Pt last May for attending our daughter's college graduation. If you want to stay in Pleasure Pt. just be forewarned, most places in this area are not plush but you will pay premium rental for the closeness to the ocean. Scenery gets 5-STARS.

Pleasure Pt Hidden Gem is basically a garage in the back of the Main house. It is a studio apartment where the electrical might possibly be bootleg. As with this property and the prior VRBO we rented in Santa Cruz, you cannot use your blow dryer in the bathroom because it will blow a fuse. That's an annoyance when you are trying to get ready.

This property is located in the back of the Main house, down a dark dimly lit walkway. Not recommended for Seniors. We think neighbors must have complained to the owners about lighting because in the House Rules and signs posted we were instructed to "Turn off" the walkway lights so as to not disturb neighbors. Our problem was we arrived 4 hours past our anticipated time. A rare and unusual major storm made our 5 hour drive 9. It was dark and the few lights we had were LED and very dim.

Parking is an issue because it's an issue in all beach areas--no exception here. We were told to park in the front of the Main house and to leave room for another car. Very small space and once parked, our rented SUV blocked the 1st small gate we needed to enter to get to the 2nd gate to the walkway to the garage apt. Unloading in the dark and the rain was a challenge.

The apartment has limited ventilation. The smell of a locker room was present. I bought Lysol but the BO smell did not go away. It was on the carpet, the bed and the pillows. Could be mold? We noticed a very bad patch job on the ceiling that appeared to be more than one patch job.

We did not have hot water for 24 hours because the storm had turned the electric water heater off. We understand, but if this was a hotel, maintenance would be avail 24/7. We had to wait until the owner came home. (see prior reviews, this has been an issue).

Bottom line-we can only recommend this for young surfers or ppl who are going for the beach. Note to Others: do yourself a favor and rent in a hotel. For the charges, we could have stayed in a 5-star hotel and had room service.

The hot tub was great but we worried about cleanliness.

Toilet handle broke on the first use-it was a cheap plastic thing. We were told it was "just repaired"

Owner's Response: Very sorry you had a difficult experience. The studio has been painted since your stay. The toilet fixture has also been replaced. I'm glad you found the location to be acceptable. We do book to surfers quite often. The hot tub is cleaned between each stay, as well as the studio top to bottom. I agree new carpet would be nice, but the existing carpet does get shampooed regularly. There is not mold present in the studio. I belive that during the rainy season many spaces get very humid. I also agree the electric water heater is frustrating yet there is an easily accessed breaker box to remedy that issue. Again very sorry you were not thrilled with your stay. I think it is helpful to recommend to younger surfer types. We have also had older professionals types stay and enjoy so I'm sure it's a matter of individual experience. I will pass your comments to the owner and see if he will make further improvements to hopefully make it an enjoyable space for a wider range of guests. Thank you.

There was no central heat and the source from the fireplace was noisy and inadequate. I liked the location and it was usually very quiet. It was a close walk to the beach. The negative about the location was that it was a long haul to carry stuff to the back of the building. As a senior, I probably would not rent a place where there was a long walk to the entrance in the back of the building but I did enjoy my stay.
