About the Property
4 Br/ 3 Ba, sleeps up to 10, all amenities
The wilderness and magic of Kerry’s landscape begins right outside your door - Fernleigh House is situated on a very private one-acre site with uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. Swimming, fishing, golf, hiking, horseback riding and more are just minutes away.
House is spacious and comfortable, and ideal for families with children.
Nearby Beaches- a Sampling: Just a five minute stroll from your door is quiet, protected Dooks beach. Nestled at the mouth of the Caragh River, this half-mile long soft sandy beach is ideal for families with smaller children, thanks to the water (calm and a little warmer than other beaches) and the topography (sand shelves gently, ideal for paddling). Located past the village of Glenbeigh, Rossbeigh beach is a two-mile swath of sand angling out into Dingle bay. This smooth, soft fine-sanded beach attracts sun-lovers, dog walkers, fishermen, horse riders, ornithologists, late-night revelers, kite surfers, surf kayakers and more. Kells Bay/Kells Beach, 12 miles away towards Cahirsiveen, Kells bay is another quiet getaway along the Ring of Kerry. Sheltered from the elements and fed by warm seas that originate in the Gulf of Mexico, Kells is a tropical oasis well worth visiting with palm trees (Yes, palm trees!) down to the waters edge. A dozen other sheltered coves and beaches await you - just follow your instincts!
Food, Shopping and Events: The Ring of Kerry provides the backbone for an incredible selection of restaurants, shops and bars. Every town features it's own unique blend and tempo but you can rest assured that wherever you go you will have access to incredibly fresh seafood; great gifts; and nightly entertainment by local musicians and performers. For more information check out the local newspapers such as Kerry's Eye or The Kerryman.
In addition to the everyday offerings, most towns have at least one major festival or event each year. For example, Killarney offers horse racing; Irish dancing and music; car rallying; Killorglin is home to Puck Fair (early August); Glenbeigh for horse racing on the beach; Dingle for Irish dancing and music, Currach racing (ocean boat races in traditional muscle-powered open vessels!); Tralee for the Rose of Tralee festival; horse racing; greyhound racing; and Listowel for horse racing; music 'Fleadh'; and writers week
Whatever you're into, Kerry offers it in abundance!
Golf: Ireland is famous for it’s golf – in fact, it was recently voted best International Golf Destination by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IGATO). Kerry sports more than it’s share of world-class courses, and the best are located within 20 minutes of Fernleigh House.
