A cool oasis in the tropics
It was great to be able to come home hot and sandy from the busy beach to the tranquil jungle like setting and slip into the pool.
Good location. Quiet. Needs abit of updating. The pool was good.
I would definitely recommend to others. Lots of birds, monkeys, even a sloth. Nice pool. Convenient location. Hope we can go back sometime.
It was a pleasure having you at Villa Chaman 6. We are so happy you enjoyed our little paradise and certainly hope you can come again. We too always enjoy watching the wildlife in the jungle next to the villa. Thank you again and Pura Vida :)
Everything we needed, with a few suggestions.
We came down with a group of 6 of us. Two girls stayed in the bottom and 4 of us on the top. When we arrived it smelled quite musty but once we got AC on and the air flowing it was okay. The location of the property is great, it overlooks the pool and it was secure. We saw so much wildlife just sitting at the pool. In one afternoon alone we saw, a Sloth and her baby, Squirrel monkeys, Howler Monkeys, A huge iguana, Tucans, Mccaws, and in the night a raccoon. Bev and Larry were super fast at responding when we needed them. They have a lady Pia who deals with everything when you are there but word to the wise... she speaks zero english so I would type what I needed in my phone translator and have her read it. So the negatives... The place really really needs a new fridge and stove. The fridge door kept coming open, you had to close it a specific way, but we did not realize that for the first bit and a lot of our food kept spoiling fast. When we cooked the dinners in, it took a while as the stove is pretty old. The kitchen was stocked fairly good, but just no garbage bags, or ziploc type bags so be sure to get those things. The beds... oh the beds need replacing or even a good topper on all of them. By day 2 my husbands back was so crooked he had to take the cushions off the couch in living room so he could prop his legs up. Even one little movement the bed sqeeks like crazy so if you are a turner like me it is quite annoying. The two beds in the other bed also need the same thing. The ladies in there had to put extra pads on them, as it was too uncomfortable, and the one woke up with throbbing hips most mornings. Mattress toppers would be an inexpensive fix for this if mattresses are too expensive but when you are staying for an extended period you def want a comfy bed to sleep in. Extra blankets and pillows would be nice too, we almost had to go in to the Maxi Pali to buy pillows but I just ended up sucking it up for the 2 weeks. Aside from those points, the place was a great stay. We have stayed at the Chaman before and we like it.. Next time I think I would like to try and be closer to the beach though, it is a bit of a jaunt to get there, but I preferred the pool most days because the tides were high and the waves were big while we were there so it was not as relaxing as the pool. The pool is great, water is nice, not too cold and so much wildlife to be seen.
We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at our villa. We agree the location is great and just steps to the pool where you can relax and enjoy the soothing sound of the waterfall or gaze into the jungle to see the beautiful wildlife.
We are sorry to hear you had an issue with the refrigerator. and stove. Had our manager Edgardo or his mother Pia been notified of the problem they would have taken care of it. They try their best to make sure everything is in good working order or replaced but they have to told of problems to take care of them.
The mattresses were just replaced two years ago and we try to replace with firmness everyone likes but we do realize everyone has a different idea of what is right for them. We supply a quilt but if that isn’t enough , we suggest raising the temperature of the A/ C so it isn’t so cold.
We are happy your over all experience at Chaman was good. Thank you again.
Overall, a positive experience.
Pros: A fair price, well kept landscaping of the grounds, pool and it's accessibility, top of the hill location between Quepos and Manuel Antonio Park, much easier bus access/use than expected (but our rental car made several extended drives possible), feeling of safety and security, numerous wildlife sightings from patio, owner response to minor issues (internet and cable not working), proximity to good restaurants (the one just west of the gate was a very nice surprise), unmarked trail to quiet hidden beach (a bit more west of the gate - ask a local for directions),
Cons: a few too many worn out/not repaired things than we're used to, street traffic can be a bit loud at times (motorcycles and trucks) and loud water pressure pump just outside living area wall
They are right! It is paradise.
We stayed in the lower unit for 3 weeks. It is close to the pool and close to a bus stop Having a washer and a dryer is a real plus for an extended stay. I'm a big guy and I was worried about the bed. I found it very comfortable. The kitchen is exceptionally well stocked. There was nothing we wanted that we didn't find. The patio just outside the door was a favorite place for morning coffee and to experience all the wildlife. And there was a lot of it. Even an ant eater just off the patio. Pia and Eddie are great. In fact, everyone we met in the complex was very friendly. Great place to stay, secure, quite convenient to everything Manuel Antonio has to offer. I highly recommend it.
Thank you for the wonderful review. We are glad you enjoyed Villa Chaman 6 and Costa Rica as much as we enjoy it. Thank you again, we hope you will visit again.
