Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

The Waialua Honu Hale is located on a scenic sandy beach, on a quiet cul-de-sac. A five minute drive into Haleiwa lets you enjoy restaurants, shopping, and adventures; not to mention this quaint town is the surfing capitol of the world.

The home is finished with wood and slate flooring throughout, a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops and stainless appliances.

Our Waialua home is located on the North Shore on the island of Oahu. This is the Hawaii you dream about, just 35 minutes from the Honolulu International Airport, 45 minutes from Pearl Harbor and 45 minutes to the beaches of Waikiki. The North Shore offers snorkeling, swimming, diving, fishing, windsurfing, kayaking and of course surfing. We recommend a trip to the Old Sugar Mill of Waialua and try the natural shave ice, Waimea Falls Botanical Garden, Polynesian Cultural Center, Sunset Beach or maybe a horseback ride in Pupukea.

We call this house the Honu (turtle) Hale (home) for when you walk along the beach in the early evening you often see many turtles within the coral and reefs eating their dinner.

Incredible House, Incredible View

  • 5 of 5

This listing was the first I clicked on, and in an instant I fell in love. I was so excited that our dates in December were available for booking. It was a blessing to stay here, and I know my husband and two boys and I will return to this amazing beachfront home on the beautiful North Shore Oahu. My favorite room in the house is the living room. The water is literally right in front of you. The waves crashing is such a lovely, soothing sound. You can hear it all around you in the house. When you go outside, it is pure heaven. We were constantly relaxing on the chaise lounge and chairs outside enjoying the view.

All the rooms in the house are clean and well-appointed. The decor is subtle, styling is perfectly simple with that Hawaiian touch and not overdone. The kitchen is well-stocked with all you need. The bed linens are lovely and incredibly comfortable.

The location is perfectly close to the North Shore offerings. It's easy to get in and out of the neighborhood to go exploring. It's an easy drive to Waikiki too.

My family and I loved this house. We definitely recommend this vacation home. It's so nice to have ample room to spread out and the freedom to cook your own food instead of being forced to eat at restaurants all the time as hotels require. What we liked best is that the house is so spacious and relaxing. You can't beat the location and view.

Mahalo for the amazing opportunity. Aloha.

Beach House Bliss

  • 5 of 5

My family of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at Joey's secluded North Shore home. Everything we needed was there, or close by, and you just can't top the proximity to the beach - right outside our door! No need to go elsewhere for snorkeling trips to see HUGE turtles. They are visible all the time from this beach, and you can get right in the midst of them when snorkeling. The property manager, JoAnn was very helpful, always available, and even brought us a delicious fresh catch of fish for one of our evening meals. Yum!!! If you're looking for a great family escape, and some real beachy vibes, this is the place!

Beautiful, peaceful house right on a quiet beach

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the turtle house! The space was tastefully furnished and had a beautiful orientation to the outdoors. It is in a quiet residential neighborhood, away from the highway, and right on the beach. A public access point to the beach is right next to the house, but the beach nonetheless felt quiet and very private. We got the feeling this was more authentic island living, as it seemed most of the people around were locals, and the town of Waialua is tiny and not at all touristy (if you want AMAZING Poke, go to the Waialua General Store, which is just a few minutes away by car.) We loved the house so much that we didn't leave much. The beds were comfortable and the place had everything we needed (including snorkel gear!) The water out front is great to swim in. The front yard that faces the ocean is spacious and has very comfortable chairs for lounging, with a wall of tropical "hedges" ensuring privacy from anyone who may be on the beach. The owner was friendly and responsive. The only (relatively small) downside was that there were a lot of house rules that seemed pretty draconian, so much that we were a bit nervous about messing something up, even though we are very clean and respectful people. I got the sense the owner may have had some bad experiences with prior renters, and I can understand her wanting to keep the house in good shape, so I just chalked it up to that and everything was fine in the end. I highly recommend this place!

Great house on the beach

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Waialua Honu Hale house. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The beach was great, we pretty much had it to ourselves. It was a great place to hang out and relax. We would really enjoy coming to visit again. The house was in really good shape, but the guest shower could be updated. Thanks Marnie

Oceanfront and private beach make this home a complete paradise

  • 5 of 5

Working with a responsive homeowner from the moment I sent my initial inquiry about the property, this was a great experience. Our family arrived to a darling well provisioned home and were thrilled with a continual ocean view and private beach.

The home is well located for all of the sites of North Shore, close to Haleiwa and markets, restaurants, beaches and shopping, but the lure of the pleasant outdoor dining area at the house made for many memorable dinners eating in under the stars.

We would highly recommend Waialua Honu Hale for a relaxing vacation to the North Shore of Oahu

worse than a hostel, but more expensive

  • 1 of 5

One mishap after another made our family reunion a nightmare. View was great and owner was trying to be helpful, but a vacation should be carefree, not full of troubles. The place had dirty tissues stuffed between sofa cushions and holes in walls at 2 places. Old, dirty, worn, uncomfortable sofas and mattresses and tears in bedding. Power was out to 1 bedroom(no air conditioning) and no power to the TV or stove. The grill was not usable. To top it off, rain was leaking in the master bedroom-no sleep that night. Owner did refund 1 nights stay, but you can't put a price on bad memories.

Owner's Response: I did more than just try. I was very responsive to the issues she made me aware of. Our cleaner did not see the tissues in the cushions. There are no holes in the wall. The guest only complained about the sofas after she left. Upon inspection, one of them had a broken support, which I immediately replaced with a new sofa set, and would have done so for that guest had she let me know right away. Power was working when our cleaner checked the house pre-arrival (the morning of) but there was a large storm that afternoon that caused damage which we didn’t know about. As soon as I was made aware of the tv not working (within half an hour of her arrival) I had a local handyman go there within an hour. He is not an electrician and therefore could not figure it out. She was adamant about the tv working so he got an extension cord to have it plugged into an outlet that was working. I called every electrician in the vicinity that evening. I called her the next day to let her know the earliest appointment was 6 days away but since the tv was working I hope that she would be okay with the extension cord. At that time she let me know the ac outlet and a lamp outlet in the master bedroom weren’t working and that the stove was not working. I had no idea and this was less than 24 hours of her arrival. My husband and I continued calling everyone we knew and was able to get an electrician there that evening after hours! (This rarely happens and I paid a premium price for it.) The electrician said the storm water had caused a ground short in an outside socket, which he replaced immediately, and power was restored to ALL the outlets. Stove was an easy fix, a reset of a breaker. The grill had a stuck handle, which was replaced that same evening and was usable. There were no tears in the bedding. To say that a leak, we can not find, kept them up all night is ridiculous. We refunded one night because they only had one night of inconvenience with no ac and no lamp in the master bedroom, which they didn’t even tell me about until the next day. She did not tell me of any other issues until after she checked out. If there were bad memories that ruined their family reunion, they were certainly not caused by one night of inconveniences. If you look at all our other reviews, including the guests right after them, you can see that our home is as wonderful as the 5 stars that it has received and continues to receive.
