A beautiful home nestled in the woods about 500 feet from Lake Michigan. A quiet setting perfect to relax and enjoy nature. This home is a wonderful retreat to read and enjoy quiet or hike and bike to absorb the beautiful surroundings. The access to the beach is three blocks to the south. The beach provides fun, excitement, sun, relaxation and endless walks with spectacular sunsets.
Downtown Saugatuck is minutes away with wonderful shops, excellent art galleries, and the best restaurants in western Michigan. The Art Institute of Chicago holds classes at Ox Bow and the Saugatuck Art Center has professional performances throughout the summer.
Fun and excitement can be had at the numerous beaches, or in downtown Saugatuck and Douglas or you can retreat to the tranquility of the Lakeshore Drive home.
The house was very clean.
The owners are very friendly, and clearly love their rental house. We enjoyed meeting them.
I would agree with the first review...furniture is dated, mattresses are old and uncomfortable.
The upstairs window a/c is noisy.
Not only was the highway noise loud, but lots of motorcycles pass by the house.
Beach access was the biggest disappointment. I thought from the description that the beach would be closer, not 1/2+ mile away.(not within walking distance for us!)
We spent most of our time on the screened in porch.
Downtown Saugatuck is great for shopping and dining. I would recommend a trip to Holland...a great little town with many shops and eateries.
It would be nice if linens and towels would have been included in the rental.
We stayed at the home a couple of weeks ago. Overall it is as represented. Has all the basics you need. Mike and Mary were gracious enough to provide linens since we were flying in. While the house is 500 ft from the lake and you can see it from the upstairs , you have to walk 1/2 mile down the road to access it.
The house needs updating, everything is straight out of the 70's.Small tv is hooked to roof antenna, poor reception and minimal channels. Expressway noise is very noticeable since it is under a mile away. Den is rather dark and could use better lighting for reading.
Given all of the above, we enjoyed our stay. Screened in porch was great. Didn't use either the fireplace or airconditioning as temp was 50-75. Beach was beautiful with minimal people.
Drive into town took less than five minutes. Saugatuck is beautiful with a lot to do.
The home is located about 500 ft. from Lake Michigan with access at Pier Cove Beach which is about 3 blocks to the south. Many restaurants, wineries, orchards and art galleries as well as ice cream, fudge and winery's. A great place for the family to enjoy the beaches, dune rides, bike rides or just relax and veg-out.
