Mt. Hood, Government Camp Condo w/large living space&Hot Pool...Amazing Family/Friend Place to experience!!!

You will want to come back every year, like most of our visitors;-) Thunderhead Lodge ~ 3 Bedroom Condo ~ Unit #102

Government Camp, Oregon

Our Family Fun Condo is a spacious 1500 square feet, well appointed, 3 bedroom, 2 bath unit. The main living space is a great place for friends and families to hang out with each other, watch movies, eat a fun family dinner (large antique table seats -12 adults), or play games. Snowshoe, cross country ski, mountain bike, or hike right out our back door. You can ski all the way down from timberline lodge (a little over 3 miles) straight to our back door. We are 3 - 20 minutes from all the local downhill, Mt. Hood and on the west end of Government Camp Road, walking distance to Mt. Hood brew pub.

The Thunderhead is a Historic Lodge that used to house the one and only Tram, (in 1950) carrying folks up to the Timberline Lodge. This 11 unit Condo was converted in 1980, and has the only geothermal pool up in Government Camp (heated year around). Our unit is on the first of 3 floors and looks out over the pool with a gas barbecue on the back deck available for your use anytime.

The 3 bedrooms have 2 rooms with a Queen Bed,& a really great Bunk room w/built in beds (sleeps 5comfortably) and it’s own Laundry Room. Downstairs in the common area is a Recreation Room with ping-pong, pool table, TV, and foosball. A great place for older and younger kids to get away from the parents, and for parents to have some quiet time.

Call or email if you would like to reserve a time and we’ll check our schedule. Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you.

Pool heated close to 100 degrees year round. The Pool can be viewed from our living room windows. Open the window and tell the kids they need to come in for dinner... This pool is the only pool in town that is heated like a hot tub. It is truly wonderful!!!!

Great Location and Felt Like Home

  • 5 of 5

I really enjoyed staying at the Thunderhead Lodge. The home is comfortable with all the necessary amenties. The pool is amazing and the location is walking distance to town. There are trails close by to explore and a short drive to Timberline Lodge. I will definitely stay here again.

Early Family Christmas

  • 5 of 5

We chose the Thunderhead Lodge for our early family Christmas and it was perfect for us. Originally there was going to be 3 family units, My Husband and I, Our Daughter and her family and our Son and his family. Unfortunately our Son and family got caught in a traffic jam trying to get to the Denver Airport and missed their flight. We were sad they did not make it but we made the most of the trip anyway. We all enjoyed the pool, it was so nice to look out the window and watch the kids playing. Also it was nice being so close to Timberline Lodge, we spent a day up there playing in the snow. (wish there would have been more) Debbie was very easy to work with and was very accommodating to us with our very late arrival and request for late departure. The home was well stocked, warm and comfortable. TV reception could have been a bit better. And the game room downstairs was a nice bonus! We would defiantly stay here again.

Amazing family getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is an incredible condo. It far exceeded our expectations. We were two families: a party of 8 total. The condo is so roomy, we never seemed to be in each other's way. it is very tastefully decorated; reflecting both the personality of the condo and the feel of a mountain resort. The owners have put together a perfect combination of rustic Oregon and upscale charm to create a comfortable, welcoming, and relaxed feel.

We did all our own cooking. The kitchen was very well appointed. We had everything we needed to do the cooking we wanted to do and even did some fresh baking!

My teen ager and young adult boys loved the rec room with pool and ping pong. Our girls had fun in the bunks with their own TV. Everyone enjoyed the pool, even in the rain! It was so warm we felt like we were in a giant's hot tub!

Thank you to Debbie for being so accommodating during the reservation process!

This place is truly a treasure.

Perfect Government Camp condo

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 5 stayed here in July 2013. The condo itself is spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed cooking our own meals rather than having to go out for meals. The pool was great to have and is very comfortable. If I owed a condo in Govy, then I'd like it to be just like this one.

The location of the condo building in Govy is ideal for us as it is not right in the middle of town and is not right on the highway. So it is much more quiet than others. It is a couple of hundred yards west of the center of Govy, so it is an easy 5 minute walk (or less) or 1 minute drive.

Great Family Area

  • 5 of 5

I rented this condo over the Christmas Holiday for me and my brother's family. There were three adults and two boys (7 and 9). The family area in the condo was spacious, so much so that we all commented on it upon our arrival. The location was great - away from the chaos that exists in the middle of Government Camp. The pool was also quite a treat in the middle of all the snow, and it was never crowded. We had it to ourselves most of the time. Will definately use again if schedules align, and working with Debbie was great.
