The lodging was wonderful especially if you like quaint touches that maintain the integrity of the setting (old light switches, beautiful wood floors and windows, etc.). The setting was perfect. Just across the street from the beach with a few restaurants in close vicinity. However I did not give 5 stars because I was not the only one in my party (I would have given 5 stars). I have always wanted people to given realistic feedback so I could be more certain of the comfort of my entire party so I am attempting to do so. Karen and John were very accommodating and tried to look out for all our needs. However, a member of my party was elderly and needed entertainment in the room and cool temperatures. It was unseasonably hot and while my daughter and I were fine, my elderly husband was very uncomfortable (but probably my fault at just not finding a place with AC). He also needed tv and Netflix in the evening. Our first 3 nights had decent tv but all 4 of our nights had essentially no Netflix. So bring games, go out but don’t expect to be entertained in your room! The setting was 5 stars as were the owners. Just know what you’re party needs as to the specifics of the situation! We LOVED San Clemente!

We loved out stay at John and Karen's Hacienda. They were very hospitable and friendly. The location was amazing! Easy walking distance to T Street for surfing. Everything we needed was in close walking distance. We can't wait to come back!

A wonderful stay with my family. After a stressful medical emergency that lasted 6 mos. it was a much needed time away. We enjoyed the deck and took full advantage of the chimnea while enjoying our spectacular view of the ocean. Nice place to people watch too! We hope to revisit next year!

Great Property , Great Owners

  • 5 of 5

San Clemente Pier is a great little area in Southern California, and it convenient to both LA and San Diego for sight seeing.

My Son and I stayed here on our spring break. The location could not have been better. This is a great historic building that is very well taken care off. Karen provides all the amenities including good WiFi, wood for the fire place, a well stocked Kitchen, and a convenient laundry. The location has a great little courtyard and sun deck.

The unit itself was very nice. Comfortable beds, a nice living room with a fireplace and TV. The bathroom was a bit small being an older building, but was otherwise more than fine.

Nearby parking is free and easy in the evenings, overnight, and morning, and just a few dollars during the day. There are several restaurants within easy walking distance. We tried the crepe place, ice cream, and pizza and they were all very good. Of course, the Pier and the beach are the reason people come here and they did not disappoint.

Only word of warning, there is a train line that runs right down the beach in front of the building. Trains run frequently including overnight. They are not overly loud, but the pier crossing does have an electronic bell that goes off every time a train comes through.

On the plus side, a few trains do stop right here, and provide easy access to the Anaheim and LA area if you don't want to drive. My son and I were able to take the train to and from an Angels game.

Overall, I was very pleased with this location and would not hesitate to stay with John and Karen again.
