A Great Disappointment, unfortunately.

  • 1 of 5

This property was much less expensive than the one we stayed in on PEI the week previously, so I was fairly sure it would not meet the same standards, but was willing to accept it on the basis of value for money. However, it was apparent immediately that we would need to find somewhere else. The furniture and fittings are old and tired, worn out and dated. That would not matter if they were clean, but the smell and dampness of the house indicated otherwise. Curtains were hanging off their rails, carpets were stained, and we washed all crockery and cutlery before using it during the time we were there (less than 24 hours).I understand that the fridge (which did not work) has now been replaced. Bed linen was old and did not fit properly - fitted sheets sprang off the unprotected mattress; drawers still had debris left behind by former occupants, and the (two) new pillows I had requested were not enough for the four of us! The beds and carpets should probably be replaced and the whole house re-decorated before next season to ensure a better quality of accommodation than presently. The owner has responded sympathetically to our concerns, I am happy to say, and we are hopeful of some redress, but I cannot recommend this house in its current condition.

Owner's Response: as a owner I should have realised when this guest requested what my pillow replacement policy was. This customer informed me she had been let down by other renters-I wonder why?. The house is not a show house and if your intentions are to spend your vacation in one then its not for you. My intentions are to provide a tidy, economic base which has all the essentials but only covers my costs ie property tax, electric, phone, internet etc Yes the fridge part of the fridge freezer had broken and if the lady had reported it then a new one would have been delivered. The following guest did report and a new one was installed.I made a payment of $110 to cover any food items they may have bought on first arrival which they accepted.

House with home with benefits on vacation

  • 5 of 5

The house is 15 min from Dartmouth and Halifax and a rental car is needed in order to get around as there is not too much activity in the location of the house.

The house is big and enough space for a group of 7 to 8 people.

The air conditioning is not functioning properly - so in hot days it is a bit uncomfortable.

Located in a peaceful and quite neighborhood the house provides the comfort of home.

It has all the required items once needs for cooking, laundry etc. This is what we found very comforting. Heating in the house works perfectly in every room of the house.

Recommended for everyone who wants to be in Dartmouth and wants the benefits of having your own home on vacation.

Comfortable, well equipped

  • 4 of 5

The house was very spacious and warm when needed. It had most things you would need away from home.

If I was to criticise anything it would be that the lounge furniture was somewhat dated and mismatched - but you're only sitting in it so it's not a major issue.

Très beau séjour

  • 4 of 5
