Bienvinedo and welcome to Villa Rosella, formerly Casa Birdie. The villa was designed with your complete comfort in mind. Within two minutes' walking distance, you will be dipping your toes in the sand at one of Cozumel's premier beaches: San Francisco. You will enjoy the rooftop patio which boasts a grass palapa with picnic table, lounges, and hammocks. While sipping your margarita, you can view the gorgeous Cozumel sunset, boats, or parasailors. Downstairs, the great-room consists of a large living-dining room area plus kitchen with bar seating to accommodate extra guests. The trundle-day bed rolls out to comfortably sleep two adults on twin-sized mattresses. A full-sized air bed and an extra mattress are also provided for any overflow. Upstairs, the two mini-suites consist of large bedrooms with private baths and private balconies. Downstairs, the bedroom also has a private bath. We are sure that you will fall in love with Villa Rosella.
Built in 2005, this elegant villa was designed with your complete comfort in mind. Offering an exceptional amount of privacy, the house has 3 mini suites with private baths and sitting areas. The two upstairs suites also boast private balconies overlooking the pool and with ocean views. All of our furniture was custom carved by a local artisan, and the house contains a unique collection of vintage Mexican feather paintings and other fine arts and local crafts. For socializing, the villa has a large great-room and fully stocked kitchen and dining area. The rooftop patio has a large grass palapa which covers a picnic table, chairs and lounges.
We took three teenagers to Casa Birdie, and all of us loved it! It was so nice to have a home to go to after daily adventures. The home itself is cute, spacious, comfortable, and with all needed amenities. We especially loved the rooftop patio!
It's a bit out of town, so a rental car is needed. Also, it's not terribly close to the beach, and we did have some trouble getting into some of the nearby beaches (they charge you to use their beaches). But, we would definitely stay there again, as it's a great home base!
We had trouble with the refrigerator, but it was promptly fixed. We felt very well taken care of! Thanks so much for sharing your home with us!
I stayed at Villa Rosella with a group of 10 girls for my sister's bachelorette party. Let me start off by saying Gail Fox provided exceptional customer service. Before I booked the property, she spent over an hour on the phone with me answering all of my travel questions/concerns about Cozumel. She was very responsive via email whenever I had more questions. After I booked the property and sent the deposit, I received a cute package from Gail with a guide book of Cozumel, maps of the island, detailed directions, a list of her suggested places to eat, and phone numbers for Tony and his wife - both US and Mexico numbers.
Once we arrived to Villa Rosella, we found the house was exactly as we expected based on the listing. With 10 girls in one house, we never felt it was overcrowded. It helped with all of the places to go like the rooftop terrace, the two balconies upstairs in each bedroom, the backyard pool/patio area, and the very open kitchen and living room. There was always somewhere to escape the crowd and find peace. I absolutely loved how big and spacious the bedrooms were. My favorite part of the bedrooms were the balconies with a private hammock on each. The house was kept very clean and well-maintained. We did cook breakfast in the morning, so we found the kitchen to be very fully equipped. It was so nice to have an abundance of beach and bath towels - that was one less thing we had to pack! It was also extremely nice to have not only WiFi, but also a house phone that we could call the US and Mexico for free. The house was very private and i felt very secure with the locks and bars on all of the windows and doors.
The location of the house was nice because we were away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. It was very quiet and private feeling. I also liked that there are a few beach clubs right next door - a very short walk from the house!
As for the property manager, Tony Rome - he was the BEST! When we picked up the key from his restaurant, we were given lots of toilet paper and paper towels. He called and checked on us at least once a day, if not more. The first day we had toilet issues downstairs and one of the hammocks fell down on the bedroom balcony. I called Tony that evening and he had someone come early the next morning to hang the hammock back up and unclog the toilet. He was so kind and very hospitable.
I would highly recommend this piece of paradise and i will certainly be back for another stay!
Thank you Gail and Tony!!!
We spent our Christmas vacation at Villa Rosella with our family. Great house...great location...out of the hustle and bustle of San Miguel where the cruise ships visit. The house is very well appointed...had so much fun in the pool. Gail was amazing to deal with...we had some special circumstances for booking and she accommodated us with each request! Tony Rome, Gail's property manager is a gem! He simply cannot do enough for you...always making sure things are OK and whenever anything was needed, he was available and made it happen. Anyone from Canada going, bring Tony some Tim Horton's coffee...it's his favorite! Great beaches in the area, couple minute walk, and the beach clubs did not charge us for the use of chairs etc, only for the food and drink we purchased...just let them know you are from next door and they are happy to accommodate. Even with our large group, we did not rent vehicles, we used the local taxi service. $340 peso round trip to town, so we paid the fares when we needed to go to town for shopping, meals out etc. Beautiful Island...glad we went...thanks Gail for sharing your Island Paradise with us! pla
We spent 5 nights at this gem, everything was perfect. We were 7 people and the house never felt crowded. The pool was so nice and we loved watching the stars and moon. The beach is very close. We had the dive boat pick us up at the pier every morning. We cleaned our gear in the sink in the backyard. We always felt very safe and the house is very secure.
Tony and Gail were amazing to deal with, Tony called every day to check up on us and see if we needed anything. We will definitely be staying here again..
From the moment you walk into this lavish home you are just stunned. Yes the home is large, the rooms huge the decor grand but its the little things that makes this retreat a vacationers dream. The soaps, the shampoos (in all 3 bathrooms) are just so well appointed. The artist of the maid with the towels or the simple folding of the toilet paper, I realize that sounds odd but when you have that much attention to small details then you know the large items aren't even an issue. The rooms were gloriously large and soon quiet. Quiet from outside and quiet from inside. I loved walking to the beach every morning, it's only a short walk. I loved the sound of the birds at Casa Birdie. At first you don't notice it but once you stop and relax in the pool, or the cabana or the rooftop you start to realize your in their habitat. There is nothing better then making coffee (thanks for having the filters there) and then going to the pool and just relaxing. I loved the rooftop in the early morning so I could see the lovely sunrise. I could go on and on. The only thing I should say that really matters is this will be my only consideration for Cozumel. Oh....there's a closet full of toys for the kids. Who does that! I was blown away with the huge closet of beach stuff. How thoughtful. From coolers, to pool noodles, to games. I hate to say it but the cost does not equal the value. I'd pay more easily, but glad its affordable! Gail and Tony were incredible to work with. I wish I had the gift of writing but this is a gem of a property.
We traveled to Cozumel with our two small children and friends Jan 27th to Feb 3. We had a fantastic time, the house was very comfortable with plenty of space. The roof top terrace and pool were great, a 2 min walk to beach and beach restaurants.
We planned on renting a car but didn't realize the cost of insurance (45 a day) on top of rental charge so we decided against it and just cabbed it everywhere, cabs were very easy to get as they hang out at beach club right next door.
The Mega grocery store has everything you need and surprisingly awesome prices.
We can't wait to go back again next year, thanks Gail and Tony for being wonderful hosts.
One of the things that makes Villa Rosella special is it's location. Being next to Paradise Beach and San Fransisco Beach means that all of the water sports, beach and diving activities are at your doorstep. There are several restaurants within walking distance. Yet you still have all of the tropical beauty of being located out of town. Taxis are always nearby at the beaches. For divers, all of the favorite dive sites are very close by. Parasailing, jet skis, and boats are all available at the beach sites. It;s perfect!! Dive boats will pick up divers a nearby San Francisco Beach Dock--a 3-4min. walk.
Other Activities: dive rinse sink and outdoor shower
