About Dave and Eileen Schmidt
Thank you for considering our cottage as your lodging choice. With only one cottage and both my husband and I the only ones operating it we will make your stay personal and special. Dave and I opened Olympic View Cottage in 2000. We never thought it would take off like it has. It has been fun for us meeting all our guests from all over the world. We have had a lot of honeymoons celebrated at Olympic Cottage, several engagement proposals throughout the years and have had the couples come back for their anniversaries. From birthdays to military homecomings and so many other special occasions celebrated in the Cottage. It has been so fun to be able to share Olympic View Cottage with all our guests for all these memorable occasions. We really enjoy sharing our special paradise tucked away on this quiet hillside. My husband has lived here his whole life and we just can't get away. Beginning and ending each day with this breathtaking view and quiet location is truly a blessing that we will never take for granted. Many times I find myself looking at the view and catching myself saying out loud 'WOW- this is just so beautiful!” It is truly amazing. Everyday the view is ever-changing with the sunrise and sunsets, the cool Puget Sound breeze, the storms that roll by and the boat and ferry traffic all day long. It is just awesome. We hope we can share our little paradise with you as you read through what we have to offer. And if we don't have something in the cottage we will most likely have it in our house for you. So you don't have to go out and buy anything. You are the only guest in our cottage and we are here to make sure your vacation is perfect! We'd love to meet you this year and you’ll see why it is so hard for us to ever move away from this special hidden paradise. Our best to you always -

The cottage was amazing and the perfect getaway! Dave and Eileen were great to work with and gave us recommendations of places to try while in Seattle. Can’t wait to come back
Thank you Mandy. We are happy you enjoyed our private cottage and the weather was nice for you to enjoy the views and hot tub. We can't wait for you to visit again. We are open all year! Eileen and Dave
We found the cottage to be everything it promised. Very clean, comfy bed, linens, beautiful view and very relaxing. So nice to get to come to a quiet place with beautiful views! Highly recommend and so much nicer than a hotel!
Thank you so much for your kind review. We are happy you found Olympic View Cottage and it did not disappoint. We welcome you back anytime of the year. The Schmidt's
The Olympic Cottage was a perfect place for my husband and I to relax in beautiful surroundings and take daily outings to see Seattle. As both of us brought projects with us, we were able to work on those while enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
We are so happy you relaxed and were able to enjoy the peace and quiet and the beautiful Puget Sound views. Thank you so much for staying at Olympic View Cottage and we hope to have you back someday soon!

A Perfect Escape!
I can't say enough great things about this property!
It's perfectly located. Super close to the airport and shopping/bars/restaurants, yet simultaneously you feel nestled away in the trees - away from everything.
The view is incredible. When the cloud cover cleared and the mountains peeked through...wow! What a sight. You have a little of everything - mountains, water, trees. You can't ask for much more.
The cottage itself is just right for two people. A spacious and comfortable mattress with the most amazing sheets. I always miss my bed and sheets when we travel, but not this time! A small kitchen area with all the amenities you need to cook (or to reheat leftovers because you don't want to leave that view!) Oh, and the hot tub. There is nothing like dipping into a steaming hot jacuzzi while the cold Seattle rain mists on your face as you look out to the moonlit water. If I could have bottled that feeling up and brought it back to Texas with us, I would have!
We only saw the property owners Dave and Eileen once each, and they're super friendly, kind people. They're very respectful of your space and you'd never know you were so close to your "neighbors". We even met the family dog, who's a real cutie!
I could go on for days about how much we loved this place. This was only our second visit to the Seattle area and we're still getting our bearings with the geography, so I really didn't know what to expect coming in for this trip. However we made the right decision choosing this property. We've been home for days and are still talking about how much we miss it.
Thank you for helping to make our extended weekend Valentine's/Birthday escape so wonderful and memorable - and for reaffirming that the Seattle area is where we need to make our home. We can't wait to visit again soon!
Thank you so much for you vert thoughtful review. We are so happy you enjoyed our location, the cottage, hot tub, and our little piece of paradise that we very much enjoy sharing with guests like you who appreciate the beauty o the Pacific Northwest. We are happy to have you back anytime of the year. If you ever need any advice or want to talk about the area let us know. Always happy to help.

Beautiful and Comfortable
The cottage is cozy and perfect for a weekend love nest. The views are breathtaking. The hosts are so kind and have thought of everything! Highly recommend!!
Not a cottage or bed and breakfast. Studio apartment over the owners garage and laundry room.
No breakfast , not a cottage Misrepresentation in the name.
Studio Apartment is not an option on the HomeAway site that you booked on. We call it a Vacation Rental. It is completely separate from our home and does not have any adjoining structures. You can call it what you want. Other guests have referred to it as a "Tree House". Either way we DO NOT advertise on HomeAway as a Bed and Breakfast. We advertise as a "Vacation Rental" and right under that it states "Guests provide their own meals". This is clearly stated under the HomeAway site in the "Room & Details" section under Accommodations page. It tells guests what type of accommodation you are booking. On that same page under "additional Information" it says that we offer breakfast amenities in the cottage daily for an additional $35 per day. This is optional and you did not request this option prior to your stay, so therefore, no breakfast was served.
We do have a laundry room that is beneath the cottage that is for our guests use and has been appreciated by all our past guests.
I am sorry you did not let us know you were disappointed when you arrived, we would have gladly refunded your money. However, we are confused because you said it was very nice and you seemed to enjoy the hot tub and privacy. You even said this when you left.
We have been in business for 18 years and have had over thousands of guests and this is our 1st 1-star rating. Usually people rate us on cleanliness, location, view, and value. This is the first time we got rated because we call ourselves a Vacation Rental / Cottage instead of a studio apartment which you prefer. That option is not even available on the HomeAway site that you booked on.
Either way ... we thank you for your stay!
8 minutes to Sea Tac International airport. Commute in MUCH LESS TRAFFIC to: downtown Seattle, (15-20 minutes), Southcenter Mall (13 minutes), Bellevue (25-30 minutes). Great location for a day trip to ocean or Mt. Rainier (2 hours).
