About the property

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 9-13)

Towering Pines Lodge is a beautifully decorated, log construction lodge located smack dab in the middle of the beautiful Black Hills, on Deer Mountain just a few miles from Lead, South Dakota on a one-acre lot. It is just one hour west of Rapid City, 15 minutes from Historic Deadwood where casino gambling is available 24 hrs a day, 20 miles from Sturgis and 30 minutes to Spearfish via beautiful Spearfish Canyon.

Constructed in July 2001, and remodeled in 2008, this cabin has just about everything you can think of to make you feel right at home. Whether you are sitting in the hot tub on the front deck and star gazing or just taking in the beauty and wildlife from the second-floor rear balcony, you will be sure to enjoy the fresh mountain air and blue skies. Not the outdoor type? You can relax in front of the fireplace on a chilly night with that special someone.

On the main level is the heart of the cabin - the kitchen and great room. The kitchen is completely furnished with a work island that seats three and a dining room table that sits ten. The great room features a gas-log fireplace, a couch that converts to a queen-size bed, and three additional chairs. The main level also has two bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, dresser, and chair/chairs; and a full bath with double sinks.

The upper level has the master suite and loft. The master has a king-size bed, love seat, dresser, and through the French doors - a private balcony. The loft has a queen size sofa sleeper, a loveseat, and a chair. Entry to the adjoining bath can be made from either the loft or bedroom and features a shower/jetted tub combination.

In the lower level, you will find a private apartment that has a bunk (double bed on bottom and single bed on top), efficiency kitchen, full bath, and the laundry facilities.

There will never be a dull moment because the list of things to do and see has something for everyone. Winter, spring, summer, or fall you'll be sure to enjoy your stay. Ski Deer Mountain or Terry Peak. Ride the groomed snowmobile trails nearby. Bike the Mickelson Trial. Visit Mount Rushmore National Monument. Drive through majestic Spearfish Canyon. Hunt deer and wild turkey. The beautiful Black Hills has it all!

4WD recommended in the winter.

We have made every attempt to furnish everything except your personal items. There are grocery stores in Lead and Spearfish for your convenience in purchasing food items.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is our 2nd year back to Towering Pines for good reason. We love it! The room set up at the cabin is perfect for a large group. We were never tripping over each other. The kitchen had all the utensils and tools for cooking. We had plenty of towels (and there were 2 kids, one teen and 7 adults!). The owners were quick to help with a minor issue that arose. All around, it is a fabulous place to stay. We will be going back again soon!

Christmas in the Hills.

We loved this place! We spent a 4 generation Christmas holiday here. We had everything we needed and did not feel crowded or cramped. Nicely appointed, owners were more than accommodating! Easy winter access. We highly recommend it.

Perfect place for multigenerational family vacation

  • 5 of 5

The house was roomy and comfortable. The kids enjoyed their independence downstairs and grandparents could escape to the sitting room upstairs while the parents occupied the main floor. Would definitely recommend this place to others. Thank you!

Perfect Vacation house

  • 5 of 5

We had 8 people, ranging in ages between 9 and 67. Everyone had a place to sleep, very comfortably. The kitchen was our gathering place and with the tv there, we were all able to be in the same space and enjoy our time together. Centrally located, it is the perfect location for all the tourist attractions in the area. We all loved it, and would highly recommend this rental!
