About Henrietta Kelly
David and Henrietta have been living at Hardacre House for 3 years. They were married 4 years ago and have decided to move full time to "The Garden of England". They running courses for foreign adults and younger students who want to improve their English in the main house and offer 2 self catering cottages which are adjacent to the main house. David has lived in Kent and London most of his life and loves gardening, playing tennis, walking and biking. Henrietta has lived in France and Chile and also loves an active outdoor life much the same as David! They both love travelling and have visited Egypt, Morocco, Tanzania, India and many lovely places in Europe including France, Italy and Spain. We both speak French and Henrietta speaks Spanish too. They very much enjoy the theatre and there is a great one in Canterbury called "The Marlowe Theatre". When they have time and at the end of the day they enjoy having a good read but usually fall asleep with the book. They both enjoy good food but most of all using their local products. They are eager to have a good kitchen garden which they are both working on. They would love to share their beautiful garden which is in a very tranquil spot and an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are beautiful walks along many footpaths around the village and they are close to the sea side with a good choice of different types of beaches. They are also very close to Canterbury with its stunning cathedral and walled city and many other interesting historical sites including two "Cinques Port" towns of Sandwich and Dover, and Richborough Castle. There are the various golf courses in and around Sandwich, with Margate and Ramsgate also close at hand. They would very much enjoy to welcome you to their home and share some of the secrets of Hidden Kent which they can reveal to our guests when they come and visit.
Henrietta Kelly purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Henrietta Kelly chose Preston
These cottages are independent and have their own private gardens.
What makes this Cottage unique
There are also bikes here if you would like to borrow them. Very flat and great biking country! In the spring time beautiful walks in the blue bell woods and also very close to the beaches.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Peaceful, relaxing, just what we hoped for.
Family Holiday base for Fishing
The property had ample parking for our three cars
an ideal location as a base for our holiday in a village location with pub and shop. Having two shower/w.c. rooms were very handy to get up and out in the morning.
Enjoyed our stay
Nice place very quaint location. Enjoyed our stay. Central to attractions of Kent and the coast.
Lovely converted barn building. Perfect for a small family getaway.

Homely. cosy cottage - very close to the excellent village shop. Well placed to get to Canterbury, Sandwich, Herne Bay etc. Would definitely recommend it.
Hope to see you again one day.
Lovely Cottage in a Lovely Location
We stayed in Twyne Cottage for a week in September. It is a lovely property that is well taken care of and has everything you could need. Henrietta and David are lovely hosts, they are helpful without being intrusive. We throughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return next time we are in the area. Thank you Henrietta and David for a great stay.
We hope to see you again sometime. Many thanks
Broadstairs, Margate, Westgate on Sea and Ramsgate are all less than 30 minutes by car, as are Whitstable, Deal and St Margaret's Bay. Botany Bay, near Broadstairs, is a Blue Flag beach.
Access to the A2/M2 is 15 minutes away. A railway station at Adisham, 5 miles away, connects to London, Canterbury and Dover. The Channel Tunnel and the Dover ferry port are only 30 minutes away by car. There is a regular bus service from Preston to Canterbury/Margate and bike hire is available, but your own transport is desirable to make the best of the area.
Hardacre House is approximately 9 miles from the ancient cathedral city of Canterbury and 5 miles from the charming medieval town of Sandwich, set in a tranquil backwater of East Kent. Good beaches are no more than 30 minutes away, as are the delightful seaside towns of Broadstairs and Deal. Margate (with the new Turner Contemporary art gallery) and Ramsgate are similarly close, as is fashionable Whitstable with its renowned seafood and speciality restaurants. Preston has a pub, a village shop, a butcher’s serving local produce, a prestigious garden centre and a riding stable offering equine pastimes and lessons for young and old alike. The 13th Century church of St Mildred’s is within walking distance. The picturesque and historic village of Wingham, two miles away, has a supermarket, newsagent, post office, banks, a bakery, a farm shop, petrol station and several pubs/restaurants. There is a chemist 3 miles away in Ash, which also has tennis courts and there are playing fields next door to Hardacre House. Canterbury has a wide selection of restaurants, cafés and pubs. There are many activities in the area. The national wildlife and nature reserve of the lower Stour valley and wetlands provides excellent walking and birdwatching, and Wingham Wildlife Park is close. There are several cycle routes and we are situated directly on National Cycle Route 1 (which connects Dover with the Shetland Islands!). Canterbury has extensive sports facilities, a golf course and Leisure Centre while Sandwich has the world-famous St George’s Golf Club, regular host to the Open. Howletts Zoo and Wildlife Park is 5 miles away at Bekesbourne. The National Fruit Collection is at Brogdale, near Faversham. Nearby Goodnestone Park, with its connection to Jane Austen, has well-known ornamental gardens. Sissinghurst and Great Dixter gardens; Dover, Walmer, Hever and Leeds castles are all within reach.
