About the property

2 bedrooms, 1 full bath, sleeps 4

The Kelly House is a perfectly renovated home in an amazing mountain art village, Jerome, Arizona, once a booming copper town of 15,000. Downstairs features a new wine tasting room and art space, " Vino Zona "(opening July 2018), while upstairs is a charming home complete with everything you will need for a weekend, a week or even a month. The lovely kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, stove, disposal, coffee maker, toaster oven, filtered water and more is complimented by beautiful cabinets, storage and stools by the tiled counter. The dining area has a chandelier and table that expands to seat 8. The large picture window looks out onto an incredible view of the Verde Valley. Satellite TV, phone service and internet connection are all provided.

The bath features a cultured marble tub and sink with lovely lighting. Two queen beds with vintage furniture are the perfect retreat. Washer and dryer in the foyer by the bedrooms is quite convenient. Located just 25 miles from Sedona, this location is perfect as a headquarters for great adventures.

Jerome - From Mining Boom Town to Art Destination: Once a roaring copper town, Jerome became a ghost town in the 1950's when the mines closed. There is much interesting history in this charming mile high gem. The entire town is on the National Historic Registry and The Kelly House is individually listed, as well. Because of this, the character of the town is unique and well protected. Today, the 400 residents welcome not only history buffs but art lovers to over 30 galleries and studios.

Galleries Galore: First Saturday Art Walk in Jerome was selected by The Arizona Republic as #1 weekend getaway. Stroll the streets and stop in galleries for live music, refreshments and fabulous art. The restaurants in Jerome are superb. You cannot get a bad meal here! The Jerome Historical Society presents Ghost Walk the second weekend of October. The Halloween Ball is one of the best costume parties in the USA and is put on by the Jerome Volunteer Fire Department. Sedona Film Festival is every February. Jerome's popular Historic Home Tour is on the third weekend in May.

Currently there is no grocery store or general store in Jerome so stop for supplies in nearby Cottonwood.

Absolutely Non-smoking. Generally, no pets, but a well behaved medium/small dog might be considered with references.

Surrounding Area - what to do: Hiking is probably the most spectacular activity with hundreds of trails from easy to difficult. Shopping and browsing the charming galleries, shops, bars and museums of Jerome as well as nearby Old Town Cottonwood is a day full of fun, punctuated by meals at tasty restaurants. Sedona is a beautiful 25 minute drive away, full of tourist activities, including the beautiful Tlaquepaque old Mexico style shopping complext. The Verde Canyon Railroad and Tuzigoot - incredible Indian ruins are just down the hill in Clarkdale. There are 8 local wineries, all an easy drive from Jerome.. If you love photography or painting, Jerome offers limitless opportunities for your artistic pursuits.

About Ginger Mackenzie

Ginger Mackenzie lovingly manages the Kelly House for owners RIchard and Susan Pitcairn of Sedona, who purchased and upgraded it in 2018, enjoying it as an occasional "home away" themselves. Ginger lives close by and also operates the charming wine tasting room and art space below: Vino Zona. She can offer you private wine tastings as well as being a friendly hostess happy to share with you her love and knowledge of Jerome.

This historic Jerome building was previously rennovated in 2004 by Donna and Ken Chesler, who operated both Kelly House and a popular gallery downstairs for 12 years, where Susan was a featured artist. (Gallery 527). Shortly after purchasing the building, the Pitcairns redecorated the apartment, adding lots of original artwork, new furnishings, a table on the porch and additional conveniences including a water filter, garbage disposal, ice maker and a variety of container plants to the side yard and back patio, with charm galore. If you stay here before, hosted by Donna, you will love it every bit as much!

Why Ginger Mackenzie chose Jerome

Jerome is a quintessential artsy mountain community: a quirky, creative and friendly "city ob a hill" full of fun, fine eateries, shops and lots to do. With incredible front porch views, the comforts of home and room for up to four guests, this property is one of the best vacation rentals in Jerome. It is truly a home away from home.

What makes this house unique

Off street parking and walk to everything location. Complete kitchen with refrigerator, stove, toaster oven, microwave, dishwasher, reverse osmosis filter, garbage disposal, hot water pot, coffee maker , blender, digital pressure cooker, garbage disposal and icemaker. Old World Charm

  • 5 of 5

The Kelly House is a perfect place for a summer get away. It is nicely decorated, very clean, has great amenities, and beautiful outdoor spaces. We spent so much of our time on the balcony relaxing, watching the summer storms come in, and taking photos. The town of Jerome is filled with kind locals who make sure your visit is memorable. Ginger MacKenzie does a great job of managing the property and making sure that guests are comfortable. Visit her wine tasting room on the lower level. She turned the space into a place you want to stay and linger. Cheers to Ginger and VinoZona. The Timms

About as good as it gets, pictures can't reflect how beautiful it really is

  • 5 of 5

This is about as good as a VRBO experience will get. I thought the pictures were great until I showed up and then realized both the home and the surrounding location was far more beautiful than the pictures could capture.

Jerome is an amazing town, plenty of food, wine, and fun to go around. Ginger Mackenzie, the property manager was an amazing host. Be sure to check out her wine-shop right under the Kelly House.

Have fun!
