The Saugatuck/Douglas area is a resort community on Lake Michigan full of art galleries, restaurants, boutiques, and antique stores.
This 1860's boarding house in downtown Douglas has been completely restored making four condominium units, each with its own unique charm, including hardwood floors, tile bathroom, granite countertops, all new appliances, washer/dryer and central air. The condos are located minutes from the Douglas beach.

Cute, affordable rentals available about 2 blocks from downtown Douglas. We rented a 1-bedroom/1-bath unit for 2 nights this past weekend. Very clean and well-stocked with basics. Updated kitchen, bathrooms, new washer and dryer, AC. Delightfully decorated in a beach theme with bright colors. An in-ground pool (heated!) and large hot tub are available for use. Our unit (#4) even had a large screened-in porch. Great for sitting outside in the evening without worrying about mosquitos.
Would absolutely rent again if we're headed to the Douglas/Saugatuck area
This was a great place to stay walking distance to downtown Douglas. The condo has great amenities, and the pool and hot tub are great. We enjoyed the morning stroll down by the lake and grabbing coffee in town and returning to sit on the deck and relax.
The space is nice with updated amenities.
I read and reread the guidelines given when you rent the property as well as some of the reviews before arriving. I was expecting it to be a bit cleaner when I arrived since it states that you're supposed to leave it as clean as it was when you got there. I had read the other reviews that it might not be, when I arrived for the most part things looked clean. There was a "bathroom bag" with someones toothbrush sitting out on the counter when we arrived. I'm guessing someone left it. Unfortunately, the sheets that were there on the bed did not look clean and there was drool stains on some of the pillow cases. We did end up cleaning the sheets & one of the comforters before they were even used. Fortunately, since I was aware of having to clean the sheets before you left, I brought & had some others bring extra sheets, pillows and blankets of our own. There were 11 guests and furniture needed to be rearranged for everyone to fit, but it's not a big inconvenience.
Douglas is a cute little town if you want to eat for dinner make sure you get there early or get reservations if possible! Same in Saugatuck, restaurants fill up fast.
In the end the stay was nice a little getaway, although there was a tornado warning and some of the guest were worried but no one knew where to go (apparently someone said there was an actual funnel cloud near by).
this was by far the cleanest rental i have had the good fortune to stay in, i was worried when i saw some of the other reviews, but really, everything was perfect. thank you
My girlfriend and two other couples stayed in this wonderful 2nd floor unit. It is very roomy and colorful. I was especially impressed by how clean everything was. The bedrooms were made up very well, and the kitchen and living room area were in especially pristine condition. We loved hanging out around the pool and eating from the balcony with the beautiful view. It is a great place for large groups. I will definitely be back again probably with more people.
after a summer of bachelorette parties, we arrived to a clean condo, great attitudes and hilarious stories about bad bridal behavior. more fun than we could have hoped for. i had worried after i read some of the reviews, but i heard about the bridal parties rude slovenly behavior all over town.
The house/cond itself is very nice (but the walls are like paper), if a little neglected. our place was full of cobwebs and dead bugs - which is not a big deal, I just thought someone would check the place before guest came. Also the bar at the side of the pool is weird - unfinished, unused, dirty...
What was uncool was to have a notice in the place saying that they expect all linen and towels to be washed and beds made when you check out - and that is at 10 am. I find it strange to pay for a place to stay on your vacation and be expected to do all the laundry and make up all the beds. And if you have to check out at 10, then you have to wake up super early to get that done.
