About John Relyea

Designing and building is a passion of mine. When I came across this property with a sweeping view of the Glen/Jackson Bridge I just had to purchase it. At the time I had no idea what I was going to build on this lot. After two months of pen to paper I came up with this home I call “Bridgeview”. I look forward to sharing this home with you. I know you will love this place as much as I do.

So much room, clean!

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I, my grown son, his wife and son, traveled from Alaska and visited our other son, wife and grandson in Portland. This location made it so suitable for travel to sites such as Multnomah Falls, Haystack Rock and Astoria. The availability of BBQ, oven and microwave, cooking pans, pots and dishes saved us a mint in dining costs with so many people. As a family, we are still speaking to each other after a week together due to the number of bedrooms and living areas to get away and get together. The short walk to the fish hatchery made for an incredible experience with our grandson. You must be aware of the 205 interstate bridge above the home has some noise but the real surprise was the loud rumble and vibration caused by the frequent BN & SF trains passing out front. Great for kids! We enjoyed almost daily visits from the deer and humming birds came right up to the balcony to feed. Yes, I would certainly endorse anyone with a large family staying here.

Very inviting, clean, and nice!

  • 4 of 5

Just far enough away from the city, and yet close enough to access all of the restaurants, attractions, and activities. It is about a 20 minute drive to downtown Portland. Very spacious and clean. John was very accommodating and responsive to our needs. We enjoyed our time at this home. Private with lots of parking. There is a view of the Columbia river from the living room, and the bedrooms are on the back of the home with plenty of privacy. The entrance to the freeway system is just about 5 minutes from the home. Walking and jogging paths are close by.

Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

Stayed with my family at this property while visiting my sister. The house was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. My kids enjoyed both the large TV and the library of movies. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Perfect Location, Gorgeous Home, Delightful in all Aspects!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Bridgeview House for 6 nights, 7 days. Everything was exactly as described. The home is awesome, beautiful and well furnished with delightful amenities! The large screen television and sound system was great for watching the Dallas/Miami playoffs! My 17 year old Grandson graduated on Wednesday so on Tuesday evening we had BBQ king salmon, chips & dips, cake and tons of fun with him, the families, and a few of his closest friends. It was perfect - the sound system was great. On Saturday afternoon my second oldest Grandson had his 14th birthday and a party that featured ice cream sundaes and banana splits. Once again a successful fun time for all!

The house is well located near grocery stores and the awesome Cinetopia, award winning contemporary dining and wine tasting. Cinetopia also offers first run super HD movies in living room-style seating. Amazing restaurants for every preference are within 15-20 minutes away. Freeways are close and easy to access so the local malls were just a few minutes away by vehicle. We had an amazing afternoon lunching and touring McMenamin's Edgefield historical site converted to a fabulous winery, brewery, theaters, gardens, shops, & golf. The finale to a fabulous week was attending Living Hope Church on NE Andresen.

Although the owner was called out of town for the week, John made arrangements with his friend to attend to our every need. The house was perfect - beds were comfortable with ample linens, quality cookware, and elegant dinnerware (although we used paper plates & plastic cups for the kids!) Air conditioning worked perfectly during the warm days and in the evening the fireplace was comfortable & lovely. Our experience was one we will carry in our hearts and photo books for a lifetime! Many thanks, John!

Car: recommended

Our property has a walking or bike path that takes you to a natural trail and the local fish hatchery. Behind the hatchery is another set of trails that lead to a creek and ponds where you observe the local wild life here. You can also ride your bike across the Glen/Jackson bridge and ride the local train called MAX to down town Portland. Quickly reach the Columbia River Gorge for World Class Windsurfing.
