In addition, a spacious outdoor deck provides a great place to relax, enjoy a fine meal at the outdoor dining table, take in the ocean view or simply enjoy the ocean's breeze.

Why Joe chose La Selva Beach
We love this home because it is open and filled with sunshine. In addition, the beach is family friendly; it is never crowded and allows for walking miles in both directions and/or playing in the ocean. We also believe this is the best location along the coast because it provides easy access to both Santa Cruz City and the Monterey/Carmel area.

Great location above the beach that goes on forever. Good view from upstairs, saw many whale spouts and tails at the end of November. We got warm, sunny days and cold nights. House was well appointed with very comfortable Master Bed and Bath. Because of the single pane windows and sliders, the insulation did not hold up to the cold nights. This would not be a factor in the warmer seasons, but the furnace provided only erratic heat, cycling on and off every few minutes making it very loud for those of us sleeping downstairs. After one night like that we turned off the heat and pulled up the warm blankets. So we managed. All in all, this is a good, quiet and friendly place to stay that can accommodate a group well. I would return.

Great location - great house
Ocean views, plenty of room, quiet neighborhood, blocks away from the beach. I loved how many amenities there were (except toiletries) - blankets, boogie boards, fully stocked kitchen. The beach was super close and in walking distance (though downhill and then uphill). The views were spectacular and the patio was our favorite place to eat. Only complaint is that there is no fans - not over the range (no range hood), not in the bathrooms, so while cooking & showering you'll need to open windows.
A Wonderful Beach Experience
Joe was responsive and considerate; he made us feel welcome from the start. During our stay, I had a couple of questions, sent Joe an email and received an answer within a very short time. The upper level of the house was perfect - large, open, warm and sunny. The deck was lovely. There were toys and games available for my 7 year old granddaughter which we greatly appreciated. We spent all of our time on the upper level, as the bottom level is, understandably, rather dark and damp. The amenities were more than adequate, although the furniture and kitchen are a bit dated. It was very easy to walk to the beach.
Located on a quiet street. The kitchen was spacious and almost all the appliances you can use. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our coffee looking at the ocean. Would definitely rent again.
great beach house!
This home was perfect for our family trip (we were a group of 6, two grandparents, us, and our 2 teenagers). We loved the open floor plan and views from the kitchen and living room. We spent most of our days on the beach and loved how convenient it was to walk down to the beach. The house is well stocked with what you need in the kitchen, a barbecue, large deck with views, and has beach chairs and boogie boards for the beach. The beach itself is beautiful and not very crowded. One thing to note is that there are only 2 private bedrooms. There are three additional sleeping areas: two couches in the large living room, and a futon in a downstairs living area, but they aren't private. Overall we were very happy and would recommend to friends and return!
Other Activities: kayaking, Excellent location for a visit to Monterey Bay Aquarium one day and Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk the next. Home is conveniently located between Santa Cruz and Monterey/Carmel area.
