About The Owner

I found Orcas Island,WA. in 1990. I had never been to Washington State, let alone the San Juan Islands. I knew I had found home with in 15 minutes of driving off the ferry. This place feeds my artistic spirit and creative side.

I have worked toward my goal of buying property on Orcas Island and building my own place since then.

I started building in 2003. I was my own General Manager of this project. The professionals put in the parts that are controlled by building requirements to met code, like power, water, framing the house, etc.

After that is when the hands on part of the job was all mine. I put in all the slate flooring, wood trim, siding, painting, cupboards, sinks, tubs, slate shower hall, stone patio, etc. I could write a book with all that took place.

The house turned out lovely, if I do say so myself, and you can't beat the views.

I have not had one negative piece of feed-back about the house since I started renting it.

I want you to enjoy this piece of paradise as much as I do.

Thank you for your interest.

Why The Owner chose Orcas Island

This Island offered the clean air and lush green landscape that has always been important to my comfort in a place. I need tall trees, natural settings, wild animals and birds as part of my daily life. The ocean being near-by and viewable daily, around nearly every corner I turn or hill I drive over, is a blessing I don't take for-granted. The views of the awesome mountains were a plus, and now I can't think of life without them to gaze at.

The fact that there are no traffic jambs or stop lights have to be listed as a plus too.

What makes this house unique

The peace and serenity you feel sitting on the patio with the sight of the Cascade Mountains and the Georgia Strait right there. Flowers blooming all around and birds to watch as their songs fill the air. The quiet of living on a 3 acre piece of paradise, on a private road, with no through traffic or city noises. Not another house in sight.

If the weather is overcast or if it has snowed and all is covered, it still feels bright in the Great Room, due to the huge ski-lite over the peak of the roof. The heated slate floors with rich, bold colors feel warm to my bare feet in the winter, and cool when I take feet out of my hot shoes in the summer.

So many things like this are what makes my home special to me, and to you too if you want.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Donna, Thank you so much for such a wonderful place to stay. We loved using your well stocked kitchen

and travelling about this beautiful island. We even enjoyed your VHS collection.

Once again, thanks!

Amazing vacation rental!

  • 5 of 5

If I could give this home a six-star rating, I would! The setting, the home, the views, and the amenities are all incredible and clearly have the comfort and ease of the renter in mind. Want to make a fire? There's chopped wood, fire starters, lighters, anything you would need. Want to cook up a storm? Every type of cooking utensil, pan, mixing bowl and endless counter space available. Dog? Towels specifically for the dog and a large kennel to make your dog comfortable if you leave the house. Endless movies and music to choose from. Incredibly comfortable furniture that makes lounging and resting so easy. And, quiet. My family will definitely return.

Gorgeous retreat - loved every minute!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time in the Pacific Northwest and we couldn't have had a nicer introduction. We were lucky with the weather, I think - we had clear skies for our whole time on Orcas Island. The house was great for us with two en suite bedrooms, and we loved the great room and open kitchen. The house is nicely decorated (I loved the houseplants!) and Donna, the owner, has thought of everything guests could need. (She was also wonderful in working with us through the booking process, and making us feel welcome.) There are touches of luxury here and there, with an emphasis on comfort. The highlight for us was the patio. We spent a lot of time sitting out there, just admiring the view of the water and the mountains. And it was great any time of day: the sunrises were perfect, the evening glass of wine was perfect, and the stargazing was perfect. We made a few forays to town and Moran State Park, but for the most part we were simply happy just unwinding in a beautiful corner of the world. I would love to visit again, and would definitely want to stay here again.

Great quiet home on Orcas

  • 5 of 5

Loved our week at Delongview. Quiet, private, super comfortable home with a luxurious master bedroom and master bath. The bed was super comfortable, we slept so well every night.

Loved the great room with the open floor plan. Kitchen had everything we needed and more. The patio was a wonderful way to end each day and take in the nature and the quiet beauty of the island. Would be hard to find a nicer place to stay on Orcas, thank you for sharing your home.

You can't go wrong

  • 5 of 5

Every part of our stay here was great. The house was fantastic. The town was fun and the food unbelievably good. Hiking and whale watching were second to none. It may have been the time of the year but the bugs were pretty bad so the doors needed more than the walk through screens. But this was really minor compared to every thing else. You can't go wrong staying here.....just beautiful!

Beautiful home. Excellent location.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful views. All the comforts of home and everything needed for vacation fun. Homeowner obviously takes a lot of pride in creating a beautiful retreat. Property has easy access to Eastsound & Moran State Park. Ferry is a short drive away. Gorgeous sunrise views. Use homeowner provided directions to find the property. Google will take you on a wild goose chase when the property is actually easy to find. Driveway looks steep at first but in no time it becomes easy-peezy. Homeowner's response to questions was quick & efficient. I would absolutely stay here again!

Beautiful Sunrises

  • 4 of 5

While the northern sunrises come early, it's worth being awakened to see them from this house. The house was very nice too. Great option - for only a bit more than a hotel room you get much more.
