1st class for a relaxing break for a relatively fit couple
Although not suitable for anyone with mobility problems The Cider Tower is an ideal spot for most couples. A lovely bedroom with comfortable bed, a well-fitted kitchen and eating area plus a cosy lounge made for a memorable stay.
Very comfortable with all mod cons needed. Enjoyed stay,. owners very accommodating.
Review for cider tower
Lovely place , nice and clean and comfortable , nothing too much trouble for owners,
One memorable week in Cider Tower
I'm not gonna repeat all the great reviews Cider Tower has had here...I'm just saying that all the hype is totally deserved. Wonderful accommodation for anybody who appreciates something special....it's definitely not your typical chain hotel interior which makes it so much more memorable. We loved every minute of our week!
And Kirkcudbright was a very cosy little town with nice dining options and it's easily walkable from Cider Tower.
And location is perfect for visiting all the nice sightseeing that Dumfries and Galloway has to offer.
And thank you Patsy once again for the lovely cake 😄.
If you are looking for a peaceful holiday, Cider Tower is as close to perfection as you can get!
Thank you both so much for the lovely review and the gorgeous flowers!! They are still going strong and look lovely on the dining table. I am so glad that your first trip to Scotland was such a memorable one AND you had fab weather too. That doesn't always happen!!

Quirky cottage in the countryside
Well equipped and comfy. Within walking distance of Kirkcudbright and it's art galleries, shops and restaurants. Plenty of good walks in nearby woods and around the coast.
The Cider Tower is a little slice of heaven in Dumfries and Galloway. A wonderfully presented building with a stunning fourposter bed, bathroom, kitchen, livingroom and snug. It feels like your own little castle to protect you from life's stresses. It was all the more charming for it being lamb season, the field in front of us was full of darling little lambs and their mothers. We had the absolute best time, best of all we could even bring our dogs which is quite rare at such lovely places. Extremely helpful and friendly owners. We are already making plans to go back!
Wow! Thank you for such a lovely review. Kirkcudbright and the surrounding area is such a little known spot it really is a surprise for all our guests. made even better when the sun is shining and the lambs are looking gorgeous!
Come back soon - have a look at the Arts and Crafts Trail in August - you get to go up all the little alleyways and into gardens in the town. We love it!
Out and About
Galloway is known as “Scotland in miniature” and has something for everyone. The area is great for hill and coastal walking, fishing, golf and cycling. The ancient town of Kirkcudbright, a Royal Burgh since 1455, is historically very interesting and has a ruined castle, working harbour, museum and attractive High Street. There are also a number of independent shops and cafes. The town is known as “The Artist’s Town” having been home to EA Hornel, Jessie M King, EA Taylor and their friends in the last century. There are regular summer exhibitions and two permanent art galleries in the town. There is also a comprehensive programme of events throughout the spring and summer. (http://www.kirkcudbright.town/calendar/).
There are numerous gardens and places of interest within easy reach, including Threave and Logan Botanical Gardens.
You will find local information , maps and guides in The Tower to help you plan your stay. Or you may just want to sit outside on the patio with a glass of wine and admire the view!
