A really enjoyable 5 night break at Waterside Cottage. One of the best holiday cottages that we’ve stayed in. Very comfortable, very clean and somewhere easy to relax in. It’s a great base for exploring the area and there is easy access to York via the bus that only takes about 30 minutes. Saves all that hassle of parking in a city. All in all first rate and Pauline and Andrew, the hosts, were friendly, warm yet unobtrusive.
Well located for many local attractions, but the A64, which is just yards away, impacts massively - particularly upstairs in the bedroom. Featureless and cheerless internally - the inclusion of the word 'cottage' in its name is misleading. The focal point of the main room is an electric wall-mounted heating unit - some pictures on walls would have helped. Any privacy is gone when the adjacent shepherd's hut is occupied.
The minimalist clean lines are a key feature of the cottages modern design and are clearly evident from viewing the published photographs. Care was taken not to create a clutter ridden chintzy dust emporium of old. But, everyone has their own preferences.
Very cosy, clean, and in the morning looks over a perfect sunrise
It was very easy to book, I asked for more information on retrieving the key which was given really well as the owners were very nice. It was only 15 minutes away from a shopping complex which was amazing and very handy! Will definitely plan on staying there again!
Pleasant, comfortable cottage with easy access to major road and so to York and the surrounding area. Hosts welcoming and helpful.
Perfectly located base to explore Yorkshire within a deceptively spacious and well finished property
Following good communication from the owners regarding directions and key pickup we were pleasantly surprised by the size and location of the property. The conversion into a modern finish is done to a high standard and had everything required in the kitchen but the view overlooking the pond and the horses paddock is perfect for enjoying with a glass of wine, if the weather allows. Although you are close to the A64 its hardly noticeable inside and this allows for ideal travel distances to the Yorkshire Moors, Castle Howard, York City centre and much more. There are a few restaurants and pubs serving food within a ten minute drive and we would certainly recommend the Stone Trough Inn.
We'll hopefully be back again to continue exploring the surrounding areas and enjoy setting.
Property was very clean and modern.
Bed was comfortable.
Well placed for travel into York and close to good road links.
Whitby well worth a visit especially on a summers day.
Locally the White Swan pub was fantastic food and very welcoming.
Would certainly come back.
