A magnificent position but some things to be aware of.
In most respects this is a fabulous villa with an incredible position. The views fromm the terraces are outstanding. However, there are a few things to be aware of when booking. There is no aircon. Except for the first night which was very warm this was not a problem for us as daytime temperatures were no more than high 20s. In a really hot spell (and we noted that the following week temperatures were mid 30s) it could get quite uncomfortable.
The kitchen was adequate but the absence of any laundry facilities might be an issue for a longer stay or with children. The bathrooms and showers were good; it's a pity that the two main double beds are very hard, with poor quality mattresses - really quite uncomfortable.
Although it appears from the pictures that you are getting the whole of a detached villa, actually it's semidetached, and there is a smaller section which seemed to be rented to couples. Noise penetrates easily to the ground floor double bedroom.
In some ways the position of the villa is both it's strength and weakness. There is one restaurant in walking distance but otherwise you need to use your car, even to go to the nearest shop. Anyone going to this coast must be aware that the driving is - shall we say - exciting (and parking in the summer difficult and expensive). There are buses but they are not very frequent (a timetable in the villa would have been very useful).
Altogether a great deal to like about this spot - but a number of factors to be aware of when you book.
Our hosts were very gracious and accommodating we arrived at 2am and they graciously waited to let us in to the villa and were always there to answer any questions and provide what we needed.
The views from the villa are amazing just be aware that you need a car to get around and the roads are very windy and narrow
Overall the villa worked out great for us as it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle to a serene setting, very clean and spacious only negative was mattresses and pillows could be a bit softer !
It worked out great for 2 couples!
A must for you to do is to eat at melchio Caterina and Chefs gourmet restaurant ( our hosts ) it was by far the best dining experience we had , we ate there twice and both times were fabulous!
Furore is one of the most evocative of the Amalfi Coast countries, corner of paradise nestled between mountains and sea, the main attraction of this country is its powerful and ostentatious beauty. Since 1997 it has become part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Furore offers its guests the beauty of unspoiled reality because it is far from the chaos and smog of the big city, suitable for those who want to spend a holiday of relaxation and tranquility.
Who is ahead in Furore can not but admire the beauty of its fjord, one of the most picturesque in Italy, has always been a natural harbor where you developed the most ancient forms of industrial activities such as paper mills and mills. The Fjord of Furore, deep cleft in the rock, at the mouth of a steep valley to the sea, where it picked up in the past a tiny village of fishermen. Bypassed by the main road through a suspension bridge 30 meters high, the first Sunday of July it hosts a stage of the Marmeeting, the World Championship Diving from great heights, over the years this event has been able to assert itself by attracting countless visitors.
Singular is the "en plein air" art gallery consisting of "author's walls", murals and sculptures that make Furore a "painted village" in fact covering the whole stretch of road that crosses the town, you can admire the murals that have been frescoed on the walls of houses and / or terraces, as appropriate; to date there are about fifty, and from year to year they are added. Another attraction is The Balcony Furitana special and unique event which combines the charming village of Furore art, culture, gastronomy and shows solidarity. Headquarters of all events is the Church of Santa Maria seat of an ancient brotherhood among the most important and prestigious of Furore, the Church also includes the pre-Napoleonic cemetery and the Immaculate Oratory. Furitana's Balcony is a journey to discover unknown cultural and artistic treasures, has the main objective of promoting these beauties, offering tourist paths and high quality food and wine.
