About Karl or Rachel Forer

My wife, Rachel, and I first visited Kauai in the early eighties and just got hooked. We bought our first vacation rental property in 2001 at Sandpiper Village in Princeville and spent about 5-1/2 months renovating it. We dreamed that one day we might be able to make Kauai our permanent home, and we were fortunate to actually make this happen in January of 2006. We bought our second vacation rental property at Puamana in August of 2010, as our second vacation rental property. and after a renovation period, placed it on line as a 3 bedroom 2 bath townhouse vacation rental. It was at that time my daughter, Regan, came on board to assist with property management.

Regan and I keep busy managing both properties, when we're all not dancing, playing softball, Pickleball, or at the beach. One of the advantages of living here on Kauai and offering vacation properties for rent is that any issues with units that may arise are addressed immediately and decisively through direct communication between the guests and me, the owner. There is no go-between management company in the loop to delay any action that may be required. It's a win-win for everyone.

Great Honeymoon Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented Karl and Rachel's studio for our ten day honeymoon getaway to Kauai and could not be happier. In addition to being in a great location (the North Shore ended up being our favorite part of the island; see below), the studio is quiet, clean, comfortable, and just the right size for a couple. Karl and Rachel were great to work with as we struggled to nail down our exact dates and kept changing things on them. We had the opportunity to meet Karl and Rachel when they were restocking the property and got to tour their 2-bedroom rental as well, which is also very nice and what we plan to rent when we come back with the kids. We spent quite a bit of time talking to them and they were kind enough to share their favorite places with us, as well as a lot of the island's history. The property description and photos provided here and on their main web site are thorough and accurate.

The area is fantastic and exactly what you'd expect from a Hawaiian getaway. Princeville and the town just west of it, Hanalei, are cute, quiet little towns with great food and shops, and the best beaches on the island are just a few minutes away. If you decide to stock the studio's full-size refrigerator, there is a supermarket with decent pricing in Princeville (for which Karl and Rachel provide a discount club card).

We were very pleased with the property and look forward to returning ASAP!

Owner's Response: We were pleased with the chance meeting of Angie and JW at the condo and found them both to be very friendly, enthusiastic and out-going. Their new found love affair for the north shore and Kauai in genreal was quite apparent as we talked about places on the island they've already visited and those yet to be seen including several secluded word-of-mouth beaches. We look forward to their return visit is the not-to-distant future. Karl & Rachel

Beautiful area with a budget stay

  • 3 of 5

The area and grounds were great! The condo was clean but dated. Great for a lower budget stay which we wanted because we were not in the room but to sleep. Strong suggestion would be to supply more than one towel/wash cloth for a week stay since there is not a near by laundromat to wash them!!

Great stay in a nice appartment

  • 4 of 5

Sandpiper village is a beautiful complex! It's surrounded by wonderful plants and a lovely golf course! The appartment is nice and though it is only one room plus bathroom it is perfect for 2 thanks to the balcony/ terrace ( had not been cleaned when we arrived) where we spent most of the time when not visiting the spectacular island! Best things to do: Waimea Canyon ( even when the weather is rainy in Princeville it might be fine there) and a flight over the island in one of those little planes - book airventures, they did a great job!!!!!!

Clean, Good size, Confortable, Good Location.

  • 5 of 5

I am from Brazil, living in San Diego, CA for 5 years and I love to travel. I have been to Oahu and Maui and this was my first time in Magical Kauai.

I always stay in hotels and this time Ive decided to take a chance and try HomeAway . Was a last time trip and I had only two days to find a place...So I saw the Studio online and I liked it. I was a bit worried about it, maybe it wouldnt be the way it was been described but for my surprise it was even better.

I went to Kauai by myself but I had friends staying there, so basically I need the place only to sleep and take showers. I didnt use the 'Kitchen' at all, but the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, the shower worked ok, and they also had shampoo, conditioner and Soap available (It was good because I forgot my shampoo, hehe). They also had towels, a tiny hair dryer... It was all i needed actually!

The communication with Karl was good, he is a nice guy. I had one little problem with the key locker but he solved in a really good way, so I was happy about it!

Ahh..One day I went to dinner and got back after 10PM and was hard to find park, so be careful about parking!

I will be back and I recommend this place!

Much Mahalo.
