About Clara D.

My husband and I grew up in different parts of the world, but share the same views about what we like. We enjoy outdoor activities in the mountains including hiking, biking and skiing; and also have a passion for dancing, music and art. I enjoy talking to our guests and helping them with the travel arrangements, every time a different adventure! Que bonita es esta vida!

Why Clara D. chose Canyon Country & Northeast

We believe this is an ideal location, close to town without the hassle of noise and traffic, located on top of a hilly neighborhood nestled in pine forest. It is also is centered between Sedona and the Grand Canyon. We can plan day trips or enjoy what Flagstaff has to offer. We love our neighborhood, which with find picturesque and very unique. National Forest access point are within 1 mile.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Clara was an amazing host, part of our group arrived prior to us and had no difficulties with obtain the keys she had left for us. All of us were happy to find the driveway clear of snow since Flagstaff had received plenty of snow the weekend prior to our stay. It was also pleasant that Clara left us many manuals showing how to use certain features of the house. She also was easy to reach by text if we had any questions. The kitchen is stocked with essentials such as dinner ware along with some basic cooking supplies (we also left some too). The bathrooms also came stocked with soap and plenty of towels. While we unfortunately didn't have enough time to use the hot tub or stove we did play many games of pool. The property is everything we could've asked to make our trip memorable!

Great place for families!!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin for a four day weekend with our two kids- ages 1 and 3. Packing was simple because a full size crib, booster seats, play mat, and lots of toys and children's movies were already included in the cabin! The kids LOVED playing with the new toys and having a fenced play space in the backyard. My husband and I loved the hot tub after the kids went to bed! It was so relaxing and quite an experience to sit in a 102 degree hot tub when it's 29 degrees outside and snowing!!

The owner was very accommodating easy to work with and she's really done a nice job and making you feel right at home in the cabin. It's terrific to have all the comforts of home - including cable and internet, which a lot of places don't have.

We traveled in February of 2010 and had quite a snowstorm come through! We loved seeing the large snowflakes fall and seeing all the trees covered in white! The kids had never seen so much snow, so it was very exciting for them. We were able to do lots of sledding and build a large snowman in the backyard with the provided snowman making kit.

We will keep this place at the top of our list for future northern Arizona stays and would love to come back with the grandparents now that we know there is plenty of space for a large family and tons of amenities!

Thanks!

Tamie & family

Owner's Response: Tamie, Thank you so much for your review, sometimes we get calls at soon as they arrive telling us how they love it or emails but a review means a lot to us because we are able to show it to the world and I like to keep reading the reviews because it gives us a gratification for our work. Thank you so much! It truly makes me happy to read how special your vacation went! Clara

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying here! The kitchen was well-stocked, the jacuzzi was a cut above, the grill worked easily and there was plenty of hot water. We enjoyed using the built-in water filter each day to fill our water bottles. Thanks for a great visit!

Great location but you can find cleaner accommodations

  • 1 of 5

Was a little surprised to see adjacent housing as close as it was. but still in a fabulous location.

Few cobwebs could be seen in the peaks of the living room and windows could use a good wipe down. Mattress were a bit on the hard side so if you want fluffy cushion top avoid the chalet. BUT, my biggest complaint was the black dirt and debris that came out of the jets on the whirlpool bathtub in the upstairs bathroom. Because tub time happens right before you head to bed, we cleaned, disinfected and re-clean numerous times because my pregnant daughter was SO looking forward to a relaxing experience. Clara was very supportive when we called her the next morning and offered to have someone come out to investigate. We should have taken her up on the offer because the next night the black dirt and debris were back, but at this point its again bed time and leaving the next day. Hopefully by now the cleaning crew is doing a better job and maintenance has most likely replaced old pipes.

By the way... We found the missing mouth retainer which was probably a hot topic in someones household that used these accommodations before us.

Owner's Response: I am very sorry you felt this way about the cabin, I am actually trying to understand how you can judge the cleanliness of a whole cabin by unused jet plumbing on a bath tub and cobwebs on a 40 foot high ceiling. All the work by my cleaning crew is diminished by the title of your review. This does not warrant a 1-star review especially when I offered to send someone over to fix the tub. Thank you for bringing to our attention that there are debris from the plumbing when the upstairs tub is filled and jets turned on. Our cleaner would not notice this as she does not fill the tub when she cleans it. We have decided to replace the tub for a regular one. Most of our guests do not use the jetted tub as they prefer the luxury Jacuzzi located on the deck which is professionally maintained weekly and has a variety of jet and massage options. About some cobwebs in the 40 foot peaks in the great room, that is something that cant be removed for every cleaning. I would like to remind you the cabin neighborhood is surrounded by national forest where nature does prevail. Besides complete house cleanings after each stay we provide our guests with professional Jacuzzi maintenance, monthly gardening service and snow removal. I respond immediately to any questions or issues. About the mattress in the Master bedroom, there is a control remote to adjust the hardness of the mattress in the night stand. Our guests are treated very highly which is evident by 127 reviews with a 5-star average. I actually feel hurt that someone could stay at our cabin and be so unappreciative of what was given to her.

A lovely, peaceful home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

After my family of six (2 Adults & 4 Kids aged 16, 14, 14 & 11) travelled for 33 hours from our home in South Australia, we were grateful to arrive at this beautiful family home. We felt right at home from the moment we stepped in the front door. It was very clean, comfortable beds, and had everything you could possibly need. The owner was very helpful with all of our questions and a pleasure to deal with. Our eldest son made use of the Wi-Fi to do his homework in the evenings & we could not have come on the trip without it. We made great memories visiting National Parks & Monuments, in close driving distance from the house, such as Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, Wupatki, Sunset Crater Volcano, Walnut Canyon, Tuzigoot, Montezuma Castle & Well. We also visited Buffalo Park & Elden Pueblo, & went hiking at Fay Canyon, Fatman’s Loop, Rocky Ridge Trail, Arizona Snowbowl & Oak Creek Canyon. There was a lot more we could have done all in close driving distance from the house but we only had 10 days and had run out of time. We would most certainly go back again and recommend this home to others.Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.
