Odd combination of nice and terrible

  • 1 of 5

This is really two houses- one that is pictured and another that is not shown, but is attached at the main entrance to the home. The "other house" is under renovations and there are tools and debris about.Young children would represent a safety issue if they wandered into this area of the home. The owner did not respond to emails prior to our trip and did not provide instructions beyond a standard email. When we arrived, the house had no running water and we had to figure out how to get it turned on, then we had to figure out the hot water heater if we wanted warm showers. Water pressue is very low. Kitchen is minimally appointed which is an issue when cooking for a family of 6. Bed in the master bedroom upstairs squeaks and groans with every turn. There are no screens on many of the windows so there were bugs after a night of sleeping. Despite a provided wifi password, there is no wifi in the house and there are plenty of TVs but nothing to watch. If there was a way to do that, there were no instructions provided. The outside area is completely unusable. No chairs, tools-leaves-random cinder blocks laying about. The outside of the house has not been cared for in many seasons which was disappointing as we were unable to sit around the firepit in the evenings. Once we figured out the water turn on and how to rotate showering so water didn't run out completely, we were busy enough with nearby activities that the house was comfortable enough to sleep in, but we did leave a night early and as mentioned by another renter, despite the promise, the owner did not apply the public servant discount. This house would be fine for young adults in the area to ski, but not for a family, and the communication from the owner is poor. We would not rent this house again.

Nice place with fun atmosphere, but poor communication from owner...scammed the 15% discount!

  • 2 of 5

Owner advertised a 15% discount for Teachers, military, police, and fire but never honored it...put a real damper on an enjoyable weekend, and never responded to follow-up inquiries regarding the refund.

House was fun though: good fire pit, gaming console, shuffleboard, nice kitchen and sleeping arrangements, and an easy walk to the lake and "town" area. Good stay, just make sure you get your discount first, rather than a rebate/post-payment deal.

Great for big groups

  • 5 of 5

We had a GREAT time! When looking at the pictures we were nervous that the place would be a little small and we were totally wrong! We had 10 people (4 guys and 6 ladies between 27-30) sleep comfortably in the house and we could have fit at least another two people. The first night we had SO much fun in the game room and than walked to Nick's Lake House for dinner (since it was snowing and the roads were bad). It took us about 10 mins to walk there and we all had fun playing in the snow on the way. The next day we went tubing and cooked at the house. It was the perfect spot for us to spend the weekend. Thank you Chris!

New Years at Lake Harmony

  • 5 of 5

My family, friends and I had a great stay at Christopher's house. The location was great. We were able to get picked up by a car service and go snow tubing! It is also walkable to Piggys and Shenanigans, but we never made it there. Every room had a nice TV and the game room was awesome. Overall, a great stay!

Clean and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

The owner Chris is very accommodating. Renovations are being done overall and what has been done so far is really really nice. The house is clean, spacious (room for many) and comfortable. It has a perfect lakehouse/ski cabin vibe. We had 7 ( 4 adults, 3 teens) and there was plenty of room to spread out. You enter house into a huge breezeway that is perfect for keeping ski gear or lake/fishing gear. The game room is a huge plus and fun place to hang out. The guys had an ongoing arcade video game tournament all weekend. We had a small frozen pipe issue, (Temps were below normal, close to zero) but that was resolved quickly. There is a big fireplace and a well stocked wood pile. The place is very close to the main restaurant area and conveniently situated between BB and Jack Frost. The courtyard looks like it is a cool Spring/ Summer hangout with a large fire pit and nice grill. We will defintely rent again as long as Chris is owner. No matter how nice a place might or even might not be, the owner / property manager must be nice and also available...Chris is both. Thanks for sharing your lake house! We had a great time!
