**We have a few nights open in August and for bookings made by the end of July we're offering those nights at a discounted rate of $275. Minimum 3-night stay. Please click REQUEST TO BOOK if you're ready or CONTACT OWNER for more information. Thank you!!**

Enjoy your vacation at our peaceful home on the Big Thompson River, just a short walk from Rocky Mountain National Park. You'll have access to 12 acres of shared wooded grounds, a playground and picnic area, plus a quarter-mile of private river frontage!

Our home is light, bright, and spacious, with vaulted ceilings and lots of windows to enjoy the views. The Wind River cabin is fifty yards from the river and offers mountain views as well.

On the main level you'll find a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and a comfortable living room where you can watch cable TV or build a fire in the moss rock fireplace. This level has BEDROOM 1, with a king bed and adjoining full bathroom.

Upstairs are Bedrooms 2 and 3, both with vaulted ceilings for a spacious feel. Both bedrooms have doors to a connecting bathroom with double sinks and an oversized walk-in shower. BEDROOM 2 has a queen bed and views of Eagle Cliff Mountain. BEDROOM 3 is quite large and decorated with a bear theme. It can sleep up to four in one queen bed, one twin bed, and a twin-size trundle that pulls out from under the twin bed. The trundle is a great option for young children who aren't quite ready for a 'big bed.' This room has its own TV with DVD player. We also have a booster high chair and pack-and-play available for your use.

What's a day like at the Wind River cabin? Start with morning coffee on the deck as you watch the hummingbirds. Then put on your hiking shoes and walk along the river and into Rocky Mountain National Park. A short walk takes you to Moraine Park, one of the prime wildlife viewing areas in the national park. In summer, you can avoid traffic altogether – walk 1 mile to the Moraine Park Museum, catch the shuttle bus, and ride to any trailhead on Bear Lake Road.

If you fish, you'll enjoy the quarter-mile of private river frontage just steps away. Cook up your trout on the grill and dine outside at the picnic table on the deck. Our kitchen has bakeware, pots and pans, and a full complement of utensils. When you don't feel like cooking, you can walk across the street to the Dunraven Inn, a family-friendly Italian restaurant. Or, downtown Estes Park is only 2.5 miles away.

Stay at least a week if you can – you'll find lots to do. Thanks for visiting us. We look forward to hearing from you!

ANSWERS TO FAQs ABOUT OUR HOUSE AND LOCATION:

We affectionately call our home the 'Wind River Cabin,' but it is a fully modern house built in 1998. It is one of about 25 houses in a small, covenant-protected community spread across 12 private acres. As our guest you have full access to the shared grounds, including the large picnic area and playground by the river. We do have neighboring homes on either side, about 30 feet away, but NO homes in front of or behind our house. We have incredible views! Our home sits up above the Big Thompson River, and your view down to the river is unobstructed except for a few beautiful Ponderosa pine trees. You can see and hear the river from almost every window in the house, and it is a very short walk to the water. You can fish on the property. Our community is a mix of vacation rentals, second homes, and full-time residences. The location is private and quiet yet only a 5-minute drive to town. Our deck has an outdoor grill. There is no hot tub.

**Although our minimum stay is either 3 or 4 nights, you can book a shorter opening if available between other reservations,, even if the VRBO calendar does not show an available check-in date. Contact us directly to book or with any questions you may have at 303-596-6362.**

About The Owner

This is not just a rental property, it's our second home, and because we live nearby we can ensure that our home is always in top condition for our guests. After a long search we found the perfect blend of wilderness and convenience, adventure and amenities. We enjoy sharing with our guests what we love about this special place.

The Owner purchased this house in 2007

Why The Owner chose Estes Park

We can walk out our front door and sit by the water, or stroll up the river to watch elk and other wildlife - no car needed! Nearby trails take us to some of the wildest and most scenic areas in the country, yet we can walk to a restaurant or drive to town in less than 5 minutes.

What makes this house unique

We love sitting on the deck and looking down to the river and up to great views of Colorado's snow-capped peaks!

Great property in a great location

  • 5 of 5

The house was literally within walking distance of RMNP. It was really nice to be able to walk outside and access hiking trails without having to hop into a car first. Even better, the house itself was spacious and well-equipped. It had plenty of room for our extended family. We liked having our space upstairs while the grandparents took the main floor bedroom. There were even extra lightbulbs (which we needed for the kitchen) and a good selection of kitchen staples (oil, salt, plastic wrap, etc). My mom is not easy to please and she said it was the best vacation rental she has stayed in yet. The house was situated in such a way that it stayed cool pretty much the whole day with the windows open. We would definitely stay here again if visiting Estes Park.

Beautiful views with plenty of room

  • 5 of 5

We chose this cabin over the others because of the river in front of the cabin and we did not choose wrong. It was so beautiful and peaceful. We had 6 adults in our group and we had plenty of room to move around, cook, eat and play. We were very pleased. The kitchen is stocked with all the essentials for you to cook on the gas grill or on the stove. The owner answered our calls and texts quickly for any questions we had. Overall, this cabin was perfect to make our trip to Estes a great one.

Awesome home. Very clean. Spectacular view.

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this home. Had everything we needed to where we just needed to bring our clothes and groceries from the nearby local stores. Extremely convenient location to where we were able to go into RMNP every day we stayed. Highly recommend. Perfect for families. Had our three year old with us. He loved going to the neighborhood playground, and having Netflix for him while we prepared dinner in the evening was a nice little extra I'm glad the owner provided. When we come back to Estes Park, we will absolutely be staying at Wind River Cabin again. Could really tell the owner put a lot of care and thought into their home. Thank you so much.

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

Had more than everything we needed including being wonderfully comfortable. The view and the stream are added bonuses. Listening to the stream in the morning was peaceful. We also were visited by 3 elk no more han 20 ft from the front door. Amazing

Overall good stay

  • 4 of 5

Pros: This cabin is off the beaten path and away from town. You can see the river/creek from the front window and are with walking distance to the playground which is best for younger kids. Close proximity to YMCA of Rockies. We were able to see a bull elk, deer and turkeys out the front windows. Trundle bed was great for our toddler. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils and equipment.

Cons: Discomfort of the beds (master bed on main floor & queen in room with twin bed), no dish cloths.

Owner's Response: We're very sorry that some things that didn't work for you during your stay. Our cleaners leave a clean sponge and dishcloths under the sink; if additional supplies are needed we encourage guests to contact us right away. We haven't had complaints about any of our beds being uncomfortable, so we followed up with several previous guests to find out if they had the same experience and did not receive any additional feedback that the beds were uncomfortable. We do regret that some of our beds were not to your liking.
