About Jessica Breazeale

Ski 5 is a family owned home. JC and Earline Edwards built the house with their four children and 10 grandchildren in mind. The Edwards' family has owned property on Lake Gaston for over 30 years. The entire family has enjoyed many summer memories at the house. A favorite memory is of JC and his 4 children all skiing behind their boat one summer. Trying to get 5 people up on skis at the same time can be quite a challenge!

Great water sports location

  • 4 of 5

We were looking for a place to enjoy the water (skiing, paddle boarding, etc.), and Ski 5 did not disappoint. It is located at the end of a long inlet and there was virtually zero boat traffic the whole weekend. It is relatively shallow, but as long as you don't go further north than the dock and stay toward the middle it will be at least 4 feet deep. There's are a few stumps near the dock, but if you come in straight you will miss them all. The house was odd (probably due to additions) and fairly dated, but perfectly suited for our needs. There weren't enough sheets for all of the beds, so come prepared with your own. There was a faint odor of cat litter on the first floor, perhaps the owner can take care of that. Overall, and especially for the price, we were pleased with the rental and had a great time. Btw, check out the Shady Shack waterfront restaurant near the bridge.

Nice big house

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we enjoyed staying at the house. One note, the lake is very shallow by the dock(3-4ft) with old stumps everywhere you cannot see. Be careful with your boat. Not much parking for a 6 bedroom house. Otherwise, house was Very nice for our family and friends.

Great Weekend Overall

  • 4 of 5

The property is very spacious it accommodate our group. Downside not the greatest cleaning job. So we thoroughly cleaned everything. Refigerator downstairs did not stay closed or keep things cold or completely frozen. Upside there was an additional refrigerator upstairs. There was a burn mark on the downstairs counter. Pool table is no longer there. Other than that it was a great weekend. We made it work. Good time, laughing and fun with the family all other things didn't matter. Lake view is awesome. Renting neighbors were friendly. There was conversation overall consensus we would book again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of the Ski 5 home. We have spoken with the cleaning lady about paying more attention to small details when cleaning the property. Unfortunately the pool table was damaged by renters beyond repair. It is being replaced with a ping pong table.

Nice Property for Large Group

  • 4 of 5

This was a very nice property for three parts of extended family to use as a central meeting point. It was good to have 4 bathrooms and 6 bedrooms with two living areas and two kitchens. We like to play board games, so we had ample table space to do so. I would describe the property as rustic, so as long as that is what you are expecting, you will not be disappointed. Our only complaint was the state of the bathrooms - we had to "re-clean" upon arrival. I agree with a previous reviewer that the cleaning crew needs to pay better attention to the bathrooms. However, I've had this problem in hotels before - so it wasn't a deal-breaker. We will certainly consider this property for future stays!

It was ok

  • 3 of 5

Stayed here over new years weekend. The house was big enough for our entire group. This house is in need of a good cleaning...Showers were dirty there were chips on the floor in the upstairs bedroom even had to clean the toilet when we got there. The upstairs oven was broken and the door to the fridge downstairs is also broken although there is a sign saying a repair order is in. 2 of the light fixtures were broken. Also the pool table is in need of repair..There was a rip in the felt and I would advise you to bring your own pool sticks because the ones there were missing tips excederia. I'm sure in the summer time this house would be awesome with the large deck and great views of the lake. It wasn't the worst but we probably would not book here again.
