About Alison Woods
We are a family of 5 who moved to the National Park 4 years ago. We love living here as we all take part in outdoor activities such as running, cycling, dog walking and hiking. We even enjoy open water loch swimming. We are on hand for a chat if you'd like to tell us about your Trossachs adventures at the end of a day, however we similarly respect those who wish the ultimate peace and tranquility. We look forward to welcoming you to Nether Glenny.

Stayed at buzzard for a long weekend, the cottage was very clean and tidy and the owners were also very nice people. The location is very good as you can be away from all one moment and the next in one of the villages close by if you need anything. We ordered food at the cottage that was very nice indeed and was worth the money. Overall a very good stay.
Beautiful location, stylishly furnished cottage
It it very stylishly furnished, like a boutique hotel. Lovely beds and bathrooms. The location is great for exploring Loch Katrine and Loch Lomond and not far from Stirling and the Glengoyne Distillery.
Do note that there are no views as such from Buzzard cottage but you only need to pop outside and you’ll have wonderful views. It is attached to the other cottage and you can hear some noise through the wall, not a huge issue but so you are aware.
Very friendly owners and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend.
Short weekend break
What a fantastic find this cottage was. Great location, lovely rural feel and it was only an hour from Strathaven. The cottage was extremely well equipped and everything in perfect working order.
Logs provided as requested. Superb meal delivered too. You must try their venison stew if you stay here!
We will definitely book again, though next time, we might book Kestrel as it is facing the lake.
If you want a quiet break a way from it all - look no further folks.
Thank you, Alison and Matthew.
Thank you Michael for this great review. Matthew will be delighted that you enjoyed the venison stew. It's been a really Autumn success. I am very glad to hear that you'd like to return and perhaps to try Kestrel cottage which overlooks the lake. So until next time we wish you all the very best and thank you again for choosing Nether Glenny for your quite break away from it all. Alison and Matt.
Wonderful winter break
We stayed at Buzzard with our 2 year old daughter, our friends and their 3 and 5 year old children. It was a perfect way to spend a weekend with children. Highland cows right outside the door, a wood burning fire and beautiful views!! The owners were so helpful and we would definitely recommend Buzzard to anyone :). We hope to come back!
Thank you for this great review. You've highlighted some of the best features of the cottages at Nether Glenny which I am sure will be of interest to those who are considering booking in the future.
Two of our cows are pregnant so the next time you come you mighe see some HIghland calves. You are lovely guests and we would be delighted to welcome you back some day.
Very best wishes from Matthew and I
A dramatic cottage in a beautiful setting
This spacious cottage is a fabulous redo of an old stone building. Every detail was special from the lovely decorating to the very high end kitchen. The property is up a long single track drive and offers a panoramic view. The space is actually huge as there are two large bedrooms upstairs with lovely wood walls and ceilings. The roof slopes but there is adequate height and excellent operable skylights. Some details that make the property first rate include a heated stone floor on the first level. The building includes two other units but there is total separation and privacy. It's rare to find an accommodation that is part of the destination. The owners were there to greet us as planned. They live in an adjacent house and were friendly but left us our privacy. The internet was a little fussy but worked. We think this place was very fairly priced and deserves top ratings.
Hello and thank you for this wonderful review.
You've pointed out so many features of Nether Glenny and of Buzzard cottage in particular. I am sure that future guests will find your review very useful. In addition, Matthew and I were delighted with your presentation of the comments that you left in the guests book. I wondered if the style of writing is calligraphy. You also gave future guests some handy recommendations. Thank you for this. It was a pleasure to meet you both and Matthew and I are genuinely pleased that you enjoyed your stay here. It sounds like all in all you had a lovely holiday in Scotland. Very best wishes to you both. Alison and Matthew Woods.
