Margherita and Gilberto
Pozzillo and our Villa
Pozzillo is a small charming and authentic fishing village with a couple of places to eat and a local small Sicilian grocery shop.
We were met by Gilberto who was very helpful and kind to us, who gave us some tips about where to visit and explained everything about the villa to us (fortunately I spoke Italian so it was easy for us).
The best thing about the villa is that it has an amazing view from both the spacious terraces available to us and this made our stay very enjoyable, as we could see locals fishing and swimming and even had sight of dolphins - wonderful.
However, the villa is a bit tired and could do with some refurbishment, particularly very important is to have some air-conditioning, really important on such a hot island. There is a ceiling fan in each bedroom, but one did not work and the other did not provide any respite from the hot weather - so we were all very hot.
Although there were mosquito nets on each bed, this did not prevent all of us getting bitten all over - so please do something to protect guests!
Thanks for your advice. I will provide in order to give my guests more confort.
This is very clean comfortable villa. Great views. We were family of 5 and were enjoying the space. There is not easy beach access. Just rocks in front of the property. To go to an easy sandy beach you need to drive 25 min north.
The beds were very hard. Only one of the tween beds had a acceptably comfortable mattress. Owners are very nice and accommodating. There is no walking to restaurants or coffees. You will need a car to be enjoying this property.
Thanks for beautiful review and for your hint.
Maybe you did not notice but there is a bar/pizzeria " Santa Margherita" in the square of harbour at 100 meters from the house and a good restaurant of fish.
BEAUTIFUL AND PEACEFUL VILLA
Villa del Sole is the picture perfect water front property in Acireale, Sicily. Our host met us upon arrival and gave us a tour of their beautiful villa. Even though our stay was for only three nights, we settled in quickly and relaxed from our long journey. All three bedroom suites are clean, bright and cheery and open to the terrace and the gorgeous views of the Ionian Sea. Each level has terrace seating to enjoy the sun or shade. We enjoyed afternoon breezes made possible by opening the french doors and shutters to each room. We were lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves lapping the shore. Our first morning there we discovered our hosts had provided tea, coffee, croissants and citrus fruits in the charming breakfast area. The garden was lovely and inviting and led to the perfect cove surrounded by lava rock to swim and snorkel in the refreshing sea. I can definitely see another stay at this lovely property in our future!
Thanks Leigh Ann,
You are wonderful guests and I hope to welcome you again.
Wonderful location...a little remote without a car. The views were spectacular...the townspeople were very friendly and helpful although we did not speak Italian. Was a little shocked not to see the wooden deck out over the sea. I believe that photo should be removed.
Dear Carolann. Thanks for your review. Unfortunately the wooden deck is only in summer season. You are wonderful hosts I hope to welcome you again.
Marguerita's place is wonderful! the terraces, garden, and sea views are stunning. Every bedroom overlooks the sea so you can hear the sound of the waves as you fall asleep. The wooden platform pictured is literally right in front of the house and so you can go swimming there. Locals come to swim there too during the day. You can bbq and cook, and the kitchen is well equiped. Marguerita is a wonderful and easy going host. I could not recommend this place more highly.
You are wonderful people. I'm always happy to welcome you. Thanks
