About George Amos

George & Donna Amos, former teachers, now Realtors, have lived in Santa Fe for 39 years and enjoy welcoming people to their guest house from all over the world. We gladly provide suggestions for enjoying the mountains, mesas, opera, concerts, shopping, distinctive restaurants, museums, historic places, Anasazi ruins, pueblo ceremonies, skiing, hikes, and trips to little-known places in Northern New Mexico.

George was Chairman of the English Department at Louisiana College from 1970 to 1978. He also taught at Louisiana Tech and Arkansas Central University. He was Realtor of the Year in Santa Fe in 1998.

Donna was Teacher of the Year in 1976 in central Louisiana and taught there, at Santa Clara Pueblo and in Santa Fe.

George Amos purchased this cottage in 1979

Why George Amos chose New Mexico

Views, country setting in Tesuque yet convenient to town, cozy adobe-style casita.

What makes this cottage unique

Country quiet yet convenience to town, authentic Santa Fe adobe-style home with vigas (log beams), kiva fireplaces, patio with views.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The highlight of our trip was George's recommended trip to the Jemez Mountains - spectacular scenery, Anasazi ruins, and especially lunch at Los Ojos Bar and Grill, an authentic Old West saloon, with juke box, pool table, cowboys, Indians, elk and bear skins on the wall, and great buffalo burgers.

charming and comfortable with wonderful views

  • 5 of 5

I loved this little cottage. The views were wonderful and the cottage was so charming..just what you would imagine a casita in Santa Fe would be. The house had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. We were greeted with music , a bottle of wine, and delicious brownies (thank you Donna!) Our dogs also loved the cottage and were even provided with toys to play with. All of the rooms are nicely decorated with items collected over the years. We ate at the Tesuque village market and the food was good, but if you need groceries go into Santa Fe. The owners are very nice but give you privacy. We had a great time, would highly recommend, and would stay here again.

Adobe style, mountain views, short drive to Sante Fe

  • 5 of 5

We were specifically looking for something that looked and felt old style Santa Fe and this guesthouse delivered. It looks exactly like the pictures: adobe style walls, kiva fireplace in the living room and master bedroom, wooden beams, wooden floors, tons of NM tapestry and very cosy. There is an abundance of books/games and information. The bottle of red wine and phone call to ask if there was anything we needed was a nice touch. The beds were comfortable, the towels fluffy and the mountain views from the living room and master bedroom were breathtaking. We loved that there was a washer and dryer ( plus detergent!) and a cooler to use for day trips. The place is a little older, so if you are looking for pristine and sparkly new with state of the art things, it's not for you. And yes, there is a lot of decoration on all surfaces and not a lot of empty drawers and closets. But for us it was a non issue , because this place oozes New Mexico charm and it feels like you are staying at a friends house !

We were here with cool weather so had no opportunity to use the patio, but I can imagine it would have been awesome to sit on it and take in even more of the view.

We would recommend this place and hope to be able to come again. It is most definitely good value for money in the Santa Fe area. No cleaning fees!

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed staying at the guest house! Mr. Amos was very attentive. He brought candy to our children and he put out lanterns for Christmas Eve; we truly appreciate it. This is an older building, exactly what you would expect when visiting Santa Fe and my wife loved the decoration and the style of the house. The town is only a short drive and it is also very easy to access the ski area which was important to us. If it will be available at our next visit we'll be back!

5th Visit

  • 5 of 5

Bottom Line: (For all renters with issues) We have been returning to Santa Fe on a yearly basis for nearly 20 years and this guesthouse is definitely the best price( no cleaning fees, pet fees, etc to run up the daily cost) and, without a doubt, a superior mountain view. Price, pets, location....you cannot beat it.

adobe heaven

  • 5 of 5

I was in Santa Fe 60 years ago. this house reminds me of that time period. great view of the mountains. plenty of room for two couples. far enough away from Santa Fe. read one of Dorothy l. Pillsbury books on early Santa Fe, this will give you a good idea what this house is like. very, very relaxing. the décor is very impressive. good kitchen. washer and dryer. had a bird feeder on the patio. saw a lot of birds. this would be a great retreat for newly wed, or anyone just wanting to get away for a while. We took day trips to Taos, Acoma, and several other places. there was a folder on the table as you go into the house listing the things to see and recommended places to eat. good recommendations. We plan to stay here again the next time we are in Santa Fe.
