About the property

Garden Apartment - 3 Bedrooms - 2 Baths - (Sleeps 2-5)

Our Southbank garden apartment, in the new heart of London, is 100 yards from The Thames behind The OXO Tower between Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge.

Our apartment is on the first and second floors of a small, modern block of 16 apartments. The first floor comprises of a living room and full kitchen. There are patio doors onto a beautiful, planted deck with a table and chairs for al fresco dining. There is also a double bedroom and shower room on this floor. There is also a a third bedroom with bunk beds suitable for two children or one adult.. On the second floor is an en suite master bedroom overlooking the garden deck. There is an elevator.

We are very close to the cultural heart of London including The National Theatre, Hayward Gallery, Royal Festival Hall, National Film Theatre, Tate Modern, Globe Theatre and The London Eye. There are lots of places nearby to eat and drink to cover all tastes and budgets.

Location: We are ten minutes from two tube stops (Waterloo and Blackfriars), which have 5 lines between them as well as British Rail services. For the most picturesque walk along The River, we use Embankment Station, which takes 15 to 20 minutes depending on how many photos you take!

Eating: We have plenty of places nearby to eat including two very good restaurants in The OXO Tower, which have great views. There are lots of less expensive restaurants within a short distance, many overlooking The River, and a couple of pubs on The River that serve food and drink throughout the day.It truly is the best location in London!

About David and Julia Batchelor-Walsh

David and Julia have always loved the culture of London's South Bank and when the opportunity arose to purchase an apartment they couldn't believe their luck.

They have an eight years' old son, Sebastian.

Julia is a professional, classical singer having trained at The Royal College of Music. Since the birth of Sebastian she has been a full time Mum fitting in the occasional concert.

David is a full time Dad and says it's the best thing he has ever done!

David and Julia Batchelor-Walsh purchased this apartment in 2005

Why David and Julia Batchelor-Walsh chose Lambeth

The South Bank is the vibrant cultural centre of London. Our apartment is near Tate Modern, the world's most visited modern art gallery and a host of other attractions including The Globe Theatre, St Paul's Cathedral, The National Theatre, The National Film Theatre, Hayward Gallery, The Royal Festival Hall, London Eye etc etc.

We are within walking distance of theatreland and Covent Garden and there are lots and lots of places to eat and drink to suit all tastes and budgets.

Public transport is fabulous particularly the RV1 bus which stops outside our apartment block and runs, mainly along The River, from Tower Hill to Covent Garden via Waterloo. It is a very frequent service. Taxis are abundant.

What makes this apartment unique

Garden apartment in the middle of London close to many of London's major tourist and cultural attractions and a short walk from The Thames.

Dear David,

I would like to tell you that we 4 really enjoyed our holidays in London.

Your flat is great. Thank you for all the breakfast-things in the refrigiator.

Even the weather was fantastic !!! So we had a wonderful view from the London Eye.

If we decide to come back to London your flat will be the first choice for us!!!

Best wishes

Wonderful apartment in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed for two weeks in David and Julia’s apartment. It was very well equipped with everything we needed and a great location. David was very responsive in answering our questions and was the perfect host. We purchased prepared food at the nearby outdoor markets and ate our dinners on the apartment patio with a bottle of wine from the supermarket. There were 5 adults in total and everyone had a very good time. We will definitely stay here next time we are in London! Thank you very much for making our vacation a huge success.

Thanks to David and Julia for letting us use their apartment. The apartment was large enough for my family of 6 and the location was perfect. London eye and train stations were within 10 minutes walk.

Perfect location for exploring London

  • 5 of 5

This flat is ideally located for visiting so many of London's attractions on foot. The outdoor patio area enhances the urban experience. The flat housed five of us very comfortably and is well appointed. The building is very secure. We enjoyed our stay very much and appreciated that we could make a cup of tea upon arrival! We would recommend this flat to friends planning a trip to London. There are plenty of restaurants, pubs, and cafes in the immediate neighborhood and a few small supermarkets close by. A more relaxing experience than staying in a hotel.

Great flat in a fantastic location.

  • 5 of 5

Dave and Julia were excellent hosts. We arrived a little late and they were there to meet us. The apartment was just as the pictures and description said. Location about a block from the river in a very nice part of London. Walked to the London bridge, tower bridge, London eye and many other places that are very close. Small grocery a couple of blocks away was very handy.

We felt like we were in the center of everything. Bus stops were withina block or two.

Fridge was stocked with cereal, milk, bread etc. etc. Apartment was clean and well furnished.

We stayed five days Loved it. Great people, great place.
