Price wasn't too bad for this home.
Paul, was really nice. Whiling our stay there the dryer was not working but Paul willing to take out clothe to the dryer and dry for us. beside this home was close to everything. Especially the beach.
Large home in great location
Paul was super nice, laid back, and available for any questions we had before and during our stay to make us feel welcomed. The home is very large and we enjoyed it's close proximity to Whole Foods, the Dollar Store, the beach, the Main street with shopping and quick car service to the pier in Santa Monica and Venice Beach. I'd definitely stay here again : )

Definitely The Place To Be!
We spent a lovely month this summer staying at the magical top floor apartment in Santa Monica, close to Venice Beach and the super cool Abbot Kinney. The place has a relaxing quality, with comfy bedrooms, a long balcony graced with humming birds, and an excellent roof terrace which proved an added bonus on days when the beach was a little too windy (or just to relax in the hot tub at the end of the day with a glass of wine in hand). The place was spotless and slightly old school in character, which we love. There definitely is a 'happy feel' to the apartment – just what you need for a relaxing break. If you enjoy the vibe of the area (this was our third visit) and are happy walking around to really get to know a place, then this is the perfect location as everything is nearby. Equally, buses and car rental to travel further afield are easily accessible and downtown Santa Monica and Main Street shopping are a comfortable stroll. The beach is less than 10 minutes away, with plenty of sights to see and things to do. The area also abounds with high quality, but affordable restaurants for food lovers and if yoga is your thing, this is definitely the place to be! Kathleen, our host, could not have been more helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed on arrival and throughout our stay. I hope we will be back again next year, as despite the long journey from the UK we just love it here.

I agree with Jim C review. This place was a fire trap and very dangerous to people over 55 years old & young childred as the stairs were way to steep and narrow. It had a terrible smell when entering and I did ask her as she was showing us around if people smoke in there as it smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. She said no but had all the french doors (with now screens) open leading out to the decks as if trying to air it out.
The towels and sheets were so worn and sheets so thread bare and old moldy pillows that had a fowl odor. We turned on the oven to heat food and it had not been cleaned and started smoking and we opened it up and there was dried up meat product on the bottom of the oven that cause the whole apt to stink of rotting meat. When we opened the windows to air it out and opened up the french doors to the deck up pops squirrels trying run into the living room (not cute). The roof top Jacuzzi was a bit of a mess and the stairs leading up were covered in a plastic and nailed down with old rusty nails. I commented to her as she was showing us up to the top deck that the nails looked dangerous and if you cut your foot it would be a problem. I also asked her why they don't update the property calenders on the site and she gave no good response.
I would never recommend this place to anyone and do think that Home Away should be made aware of this as it does not meet the good quality of property they are renowned for as my family has stayed at many many properties for many years now and have never run into this situation before :(
This reviewer seemed to struggle from the start with the reservation, very confused about who was calling her and who was e-mailing her; could not use PayPal for payment, mailed personal checks; had to mail contracts. On arrival at the apartment seemed to be in a generally bad mood, made several negative statements and comments that were absolutely untrue.
*The issue from the oven had to be due to her food, no food was left in the oven! The apartment had been fully cleaned and was vacant for some time.
*In good weather, we always open windows for the ocean air and the views. There is no mold on the pillows, and they are covered with new zippered pillow case covers. This is a non-smoking apartment building and we do not allow smoking on the property
*There was ONE loose nail on the far left underside of one step (it is a dark metal, not rusty) nowhere near the footpath) leading to the roof deck. These stairs are carpeted with a cream colored Berber and have a clear plastic runner which covers the carpeting - the nail was on the underside of a stair tread where no foot could land, it holds down the clear plastic runner.
*The jacuzzi is not “a bit of a mess” - it is regularly maintained by a spa service and is thoroughly pristine.
*Sheets/ towels are not “threadbare “ and there were many additional towels and sheets in the linen chest.
*There is a tree near the balcony and rarely a squirrel runs across the branch (note: none have never tried to enter the building - we have a permanent tenant living in this building for the last 7 years who can vouch for this - and for the light, bright stairway that accommodates width of two people, has double glass french doors leading to it, has a large glass window half way up the stairs at the entrance to this apartment, for the light, bright, airy apartment and the lack of ‘any odor” in the building.
*We have had guests ranging from their 70’s to infants, couples, families with children with no complaints about anything, in fact the majority of reviews completely contradict this one.
*This seemed to be a person who is exaggerating in an over-obvious fashion,and was perhaps unhappy with other things. She was unfriendly and appeared to dislike “everyone and everything”. NOTE: did not sign name to the ‘review’, did not call the manager or comment or complain during the stay.
*It is very inappropriate when people slander another's business. We invite Homeaway to verify the property.
This property is in an excellent location, just three minutes from popular Santa Monica's Main Street. with restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, boutiques, Farmers Market. Nearby is trendy Abbot Kinney Blvd (with cafes, galleries,shops Third Street Promenade, the new Santa Monica Place Mall and the Santa Monica Pier are only a five minute drive; only ten minutes to Marina del Rey or Venice Beach Boardwalk Neighborhood children's park, Starbucks and two grocery stores within walking distance. Great residential neighborhood and very close to many entertainment and business areas as well. Los Angeles, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Westwood - with nearby freeway access. Just a five minute walk to the beach, with a bicycle, roller skate and footpath that goes from Santa Monica south to Manhattan Beach, north to Malibu There is surfing, boating, volley ball, kiddies park, of course swimming, bicycle rentals, cafes.....fun and sun! Other Activities: At beach there is bicycle, roller skate & footpath from Marina del Rey to Malibu, Santa Monica Pier with arcade, rides, restaurants . There is surfing, stand up paddle, boating, volley ball, kiddies park & entertainment.
