About Meghan Pope
Hi! We are a family of six from SE Washington. We run a couple of campgrounds/RV parks: Tamarack RV Park in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Beach RV Park in Benton City, Washington. We love traveling, camping, and sailing.
Meghan Pope purchased this House in 1999
Why Meghan Pope chose Coeur d'Alene
This house is on Government Way in Coeur d'Alene, in a prime location close to Costco, Black Sheep Warehouse, and Safeway. It's centrally located between Lake CDA and the town of Hayden Lake. We love the water of the lake, and the convenience of the surrounding shops and stores! We own and operate Tamarack RV Park just behind this house, so it was natural for us to offer this house to guests who enjoy the comforts of kitchen and couch and patio when traveling.
What makes this House unique
With this vacation home, you can enjoy the quaint, brickstone Camper Patio with picnic tables and flower planters, in the center of our Tamarack RV Park. It is a comfortable gathering place for your family or group. Enjoy cooking on the BBQ grill or watching our pond waterfall. Tamarack House is also a great jump-off location for exploring Silverwood 15 miles to the north. Or drive east to Kellogg, Idaho, to enjoy a gondola ride up the hill to silver mines and explore an old west town! Farragut State Park is also close by.

Started rough but ended smoothly.
Our stay started off in not a great way but ended in a memorable and lovely time. We will definitely come back next year. Thank you again for accommodating me and my family.
Great for families
Convenient location. House has old school charm
great place with lots of room
Older home perfect for families. Great location with grocery stores within walking distance. Easy drive to Silverwood. Kitchen is really well stocked.
Does not match the listing
The property is listed as a 4 bedroom which it is not, it's a 3 bedroom. They use multiple pictures of the same room to make it appear to be 4 rooms. There were clothes in the dressers that were not ours. There was only one roll of toilet paper for 7 people for 2 days. A stray cat tried to get in the house if we left the door open. We called the owner and received a message back the night before we left, good thing it wasn't an emergency. Overall it wasn't a great experience and would not recommend it for the money.
Nice house built in 1960
I stayed with my family in January, five of us in total, and we had a lovely time. The biggest problem we had was the gas fireplace, and that was because we didn't know how to operate it (duh). You have to open the yellow valve on the gas line, push the knob on the fake logs in to turn it, and hold the knob pressed in to the "Pilot" position for about 10 seconds before pressing the starter clicker (button on the left (but still front) side of the black box the knob is on). You should hear it hissing very quietly if you're doing it right. You should be able to see the pilot flame nestled between the "logs" if you get it started.
The kitchen is pretty fully equipped, but check to make sure the cookie sheet fits in the oven before you put cookies or scones or whatever on it, because the oven is pretty small. We made it work with a disposable foil baking tin. The oven runs a little cool, by the way.
I saw a review saying there were tents in the front yard when the RV park was full. Not a problem for us in January, but the RV park was (surprisingly) full. I didn't expect that.
If I'm ever in this area again in cold weather, I'd consider this house again.
Thank you for your thoughtful review. The fireplace is actually pretty straightforward. But you make a good point. We will place printed instructions beside the fireplace for the next guests. The oven dimensions are 17"x17" and 18 3/4" deep...it's adequate but not huge.
The property was as described, however overflow camping is the front yard of the house. If they are busy, be prepared to stare into the tents of others if the blinds are open. We ended up having to keep the blinds closed the entire stay.
Just remember it is an older property but it is convenient to everything.
Tamarack House is located at the front of our Tamarack RV Park. Guests often remark how quiet are the living quarters. The House is nestled among our pine trees and has a woodsy feel. It's walking distance to Safeway, Costco,
