Heaven on earth
We just spent a long weekend here. It is heavenly. The location is amazing; walking around the island was dreamy. And just spending time in the great room with all the sliding doors open to the chipmunks and at least one red tail hawk; people who are tracking the terrapins; the leaves in the trees +++
The outdoor shower was fun - hot water made a mid-October shower outdoors just fine.
The tides and the bridge crossing were an interesting part of the visit too. Timing our arrival around that was no problem at all.
The kitchen is well equipped; there is a nice dining area in the great room for six people which was very nice too. The owner is "just right" - checking in just enough to be sure all was well as indeed it was.
Magical Marsh House
We just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks and miss it already! David was a great host/communicator and told us about the turtles. The living room was our favorite place to hang out because the view was gorgeous. We had fun chasing the tides and being "stuck" on the island during extra high tides. We got a super homey feeling, which we really enjoyed. Can't wait to go back.
Our favorite place on the cape
We have rented this property from David and Sharon for many years. We love everything about the place, from the setting on the marsh, the view of the bridge, the short walk to the secluded beach, and the well appointed kitchen. I have cooked everything from paella to homemade pies in the kitchen and entertained family, friends, and neighbors on the expansive deck. We especially love reading a book on the deck and watching the birds from the nearby audubon sanctuary.
Shopping is easily accessible by bike in South Wellfleet, as are ocean beaches and restaurants. If you have children, they will love jumping from the bridge at high tide, as ours have over the many years we have come to the Marsh House.
Beautiful Views, tranquil house
We've rented on Lt. Island several years in a row and this house was really special. The views and the ever changing tides are so pretty, and the surroundings are really quiet. The bedrooms were comfortable and there was plenty of room to spread out. There is a closet full of games if you have kids. The guest house is nice for privacy. The kitchen had everything we needed, we grilled quite a few nights and spent a lot of time on the deck. Really pay attention to the tides, we even went out one night knowing it would be too high on our return, parked on the other side, brought our bathing suits and walked/swam our way home through the tides. There was AC in 2 of the bedrooms but all of the screen doors in the rest of the house let in a nice breeze off the marshes. Highly recommend, would definitely rent again!
Perfect Lt. Island getaway
We spent several weeks in this very well provisioned and cared for beach home and have stayed here at least 3 or 4 other times. It is accurately represented on the site with a fantastic, large and light family room and very workable bedroom/bathrooms. The detached cottage and roof deck provide privacy and various relaxation options. The kitchen is well supplied and adequate. The ever-changing marsh view/setting makes this spot particularly special.
The owners take great care of the property, have thought of everything a visitor might need and are extremely responsive to anything that comes up. I would definitely return!
What an amazing house!
We spend the weekend of Sept. 25, 2009, in this fantastic house. The views of the marsh and water are unbelievable and the beauty of Lt. Island itself is so much fun to explore. We hiked the trails and beaches on the island itself. There are many more trails just off the island, too, that sound inviting and downtown Wellfleet is only about 10 minutes (and another world) away. This house is lovely. There are sliding glass doors everywhere which let you take in the amazing view. In the summer I would imagine the entire house can be opened up to the breeze because there were screens in all of them. The king bed we slept in was incredibly comfortable, the kitchen was well outfitted, the bathrooms clean and there was lots of open space to just hang out in. The house was spotless and very comfortable, with several couches and chairs and a fireplace in the kitchen/sitting room area. The outside decks were great, too; casual but comfortable chairs and several nooks on the front and back of the house to sit in and find privacy for reading a book or just gazing at the water. All in all, a wonderful rental house and David was a gracious and generous host.
